Hello Everyone!

I have been trying to make MagSol for quite a while now, but it just dosent seem to be working for me. Is there a secret to it or something? How come it is winning so many citys but has not won a single game for me?

If you want an example, here is a SAMPLE DECKLIST that i made:

please tell me what is wrong. [not specific cards but rather strategy and synergy behing magsol] is it the pokemon, the trainers or the energy that win the game?

[Wont contain 60 cards - it is just a sample and i dont want it to be moved to deck building]

SAMPLE [NOT ACTUAL] DECKLIST

4 Absol SW

3 Magmortar SW

1 Magmortar Level X MT

1 - 1 Arcanine SW

8 Drawers

2 Recyclers

5 Basic Pokemon Searchers [roseannes / balls ]

4 celios / pemt / bebe

4 Team Galactics Mars

3 - 4 DRE

1 Scramble

10 Fire

1 holon energy FF

is a deck list like this the one that wins a city? or is there a secret behind this deck?

help would be GREATLY APPRECTIARED.

thank you very much in advanced !

happy 2008 to every one!

There is no secret. It just relies on Donking (Magmortar) or Disruption and THEN donking (Absol followed up by Magmortar). The speed in which you use it makes or breaks the deck.

That's a pretty vague question. Does a decklist like that win tournaments? Many people would suggest that the decklist is just part of the formula for winning tournaments. The other parts might include the skill of the player playing the deck, the matchups that player has the day of the tournament, and the luck of the player that day.

You want people to answer whether your sample decklist is city championship material, but you don't want to actually complete the decklist by adding in real cards. You feel one certain style of decklist might be championship material while another isn't. I feel you are seeing the situation from a black or white point of view when there is really many shades of gray.

There isn't just one template decklist that everyone works off of. Many times, players will have similar decklists, but with a few certain cards different between them. That happens a lot since players tend to playtest in different environments and that leads to different resulting techs and strategies for certain obstacles. Many player's decklists might be championship material, and some might not look anything like the rest of them.

If you are looking for someone to critique your deck, then make a topic in the deck help section. if you are looking for a strategy for "MagSol", then remove the decklist and ask about the strategy for "MagSol". If you are wondering what makes up a championship decklist, you might want to make a new topic asking that question.

Why would you play Bebe or PETM in this format over Celio makes no sense at all, especially when you don't play any exes...

You dont need Arcanine, and if dont see any help with Absol, try Stantler, I am running Stantmortar, it does well especially if you dont get that needed supporter on turn 1. I have ran both, but absol only really works at the beginning, but Stantler helps to set YOU up. I havent played long but, Stantler is one of the best pokemon to start with!

Yeah, but your opponent gets set up too then. That plus Magmortar being a terrible stand alone pokemon, the deck won't have a chance against something like Gardylade if they set up.

The deck needs Absol to have a chance to beat the opponent.

Got a few CC winners who'd like a word with you.

If you go into a tournament with a 4-4 Magmortar and 4 Stantler, your not going to win.
If you go in with 4-4 Magmortar and 4 Absol, or Magmortar/Typhlosion, you've got a legitimate shot.

4 - 4 magmortar or 4 - 3 - 1 magmortar?

sorry - what i really meant was "what is the secret behind MagSol?" Becuase it seems to me that absol can go with anyone...so why Magmortar?

-4 anything

+4 magmar (MT off course).

that will rise your chance 900%

Maybe even 9,000%

Magmortar is a dern good pokemon. He's hardy, does good damage, and has versatility (damage spread, sniping, direct damage) with a good body.

He's definitely a great pokemon, especially for a stage 1.
