Have you ever been hated for winning?

Eh, people hold grudges for anything. You can get yourself hated for winning too much, losing too much, speaking your mind too much, and pretty much anything else imaginable. It almost seems like people purposely try to start beef with other people, especially online.

And then there is the league experience, where you have really good decks, and people grow accustomed to losing to your deck, and thus don't want to play you in the future. Not really hate, but more of a technique to avoid playing you.
 
When I was in Juniors i won alot of tournys and a few kids got mad because they used to win and one time a kid even sat on his ranking BECAUSE i was playing.
 
I think you kind of just have to take it in stride. The majority of the people in this country are simply ignorant. Back when I played and won a decent amount of time, I had some of that negative air thrown my way. It's like Matt said, people find a way to get mad about something as illegit as a _card game_. There's so much more to life to be stressed or upset about.

I think a lot of the players that play this game now have a lot of growing up to do, and I am not just talking in the Junior and Senior divisions. I hate to be negative - but I am offering you my thoughts. There really are a good amount of people who play this game who take away from the enjoyment.

Everyone, and I mean everyone, is hated on for success. Unless it's success in becoming a saint or something, people will be jealous or hate you for a plethora of other reasons.
 
Being hated for winning is very different to being hated because you stopped someone from winning. The latter being the actual reason because unless people want them or someone to win, why should they have a problem?

I tend to find losing more satisfying than winning. Seeing players with better decks and/or skill makes me feel priviliged that I was the closest to that in reflecting on the tourney.

As for ratings, how sitting on a rating and avoiding playing people is SOt/g is beyond me. Sure, you don't have to go to tournies but face people and losses like a true player, learn and improve!
 
Sometimes people get upset with me when I defeat them at league, but it is mainly the kids. Sometimes adults at tournaments are really steaming when they leave the battle scene after a loss. It is pretty annoying, because whenever I loose, I always try to congratulate them and say good game.

So true; I know a couple of one track minded people who accused me of wrong doing after winning a tournament, but know nothing of the matter. Some people just like drama, so my philosophy on this matter is to just do what you do best; and that is to WIN.
 
You should try getting the triple Price of Progress draw against someone who routinely has four or five dual lands out at once. That'll make your opponent downright loathe you for winning.

That or swinging with a 5/4 on turn 2, followed by a 6/5 on turn 3, in sealed deck. I've never seen someone throw their hand onto the table and say "**** it" in a game, before I pulled off that win.
 
A few times I think I've recieved not-so-pleasent looks, but I usually ignore it. I mean, whenever I lose, I don't hold grudges or anything, it's just part of the game.
