Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

ANY suggestions about great encounter decks

Well, short of Togekiss, the Legendary Pokemon LV.X (Darkrai, Dialga, etc.) and Porygon Z, we don't know much of anything about what's actually :/

We know Eevee's evolutions are good, but they aren't coming out in Great Encounters

We don't know for certain what the best partners for the LV.X pokemon are (though Cresselia with Gardevoir has been praised as a good combo, and Dialga and Blastoise looks fun)

Togekiss looks like it could work with a lot of pokemon (Garchomp comes to mind), though it's power relys a lot on top-decking.

Sceptile has been talked about, and will most likely be in Great Encounters. But with it's best friend Leafeon gone, we'll have to come up with something inventive to abuse it's body.

Swampert looks fairly cool as well, and would be interesting to see work, but do we even have water or fighting pokemon worth using it's power on? Gallade doesn't care if energy are moved around... Hm...

Anyway: does anyone have a solid deck list or even a known combo that's that great out of Great Encounters? Not yet, as far as I know. I don't think we'll find another Gardevoir/Gallade really obvious combo out of this set, but I could be wrong. Try looking at the stage 2 and 1s in the Diamond and Pearl spoilers (looks like mostly stage 2s, this time around), and see if you can come up with something cool?

1. This should be in Single Cards.
2. Gardilade with Cresselia?
Hurricane with Phione?
I guess some of the new starters (Blaziken, Swampert and Sceptile)?
Dark Wing Duck with Darkrai Lv.X?

And the best deck of all...

7 & under metagame: Palkia Lv.X-Dialga Lv.X-Darkrai Lv.X-Cresselia Lv.X-Wailord-Weavile!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're missing the Weavile. ;)

Okay, Dialga LV.X, you don't get a turn... Palkia LV.X, I bring up whomever I want... Weavile Power if I have the wrong pokemon active ('cause then Moonlight Stadium gives you free retreat), Darkrai LV.X increases power, Cresselia then knocks you out for 2 prize. Thanks for playing~

...Actually, Weavile + Moonlight Stadium seems like a very interesting way to counter Palkia LV.X's side effects if you don't play other ways to free retreat. Hm.

I think Sceptile + Wormadam Plant Cloak could be sweet. 1 Grass energy and Wormadam is already at 120 HP Stage 1, and then a second one will allow him to attack.

Togekiss + a lot of stuff is just plain cool, even if Togekiss is a Stage 2.

Cresselia and its Lv X form would be better if Gardy wasn't so popular now, as taking 2 prizes for KOing a Pokemon is fun.

PorygonZ is overhyped imo, being able to transform into different types for a turn is cool, but its attack is way too inconsistent and still fails to OHKO most things (max is 120 damage without using the Power, which is short of all these 130 HP Stage 2s running around). Not to mention that Z is underpowered at 110 HP...Porygon2 is better imo for its Power.

Darkrai of course is weak to G&G, but if you can spam out the Dark Energy fast enough with him in play, I think you could stand a chance. Moonlight Stadium gives a boost to Dark (and Psychic) Pokemon in general.

And of course, if Omastar should arrive...well, that just hurts.

I have do admit that in my opinion non of the lv. xs in this set are good. They are all cards that you would want to sit on your bench. Especialy darkrai. I does have a good attack but the darkrai wevil combo is too slow. PorygonZ is bad also because it's attack is bad but Porygon2 is very good. I can speed up your set up. Pachirisu and phione will change the game back to almost how it was before diamond and pearl. Togekiss is fun but with the amount of energy played in decks these days you have to be pretty lucky to get 3 or more energy in 10 cards. The starters will be fun. Sceptile will be used a lot and swampert I think wont be used because I don't think it will be fast enough because it will need a nother pokemon to combo with and it would probaly be a S2 because all of the stage 1 dont need energy exeleration. Blaziken will bring heavy bench damage back and it combos greatly with itself. Cressilia would be used a lot I think. I don't think the fossils will be coming in the set. And also hand disruption also will die with the set.

Togekiss is nice. And so is Blaziken.
Togekiss can work well with Blissey, Magmortar basically anything that needs lots of energys to do lots of damage.
Blaziken can snipe :D

Oh, yeah, well... yeah, the Weavile. But just imagine if this deck showed up at States!

And you're right. Weavile + Moonlight Stadium could be a counter to Palkia. And it will help with any high-Retreat Pokemon down to 0 (Blissey anyone?) that isn't a Stage 2 Lv.X (Gardevoir). Hm... when it gets released, I'll put it in my Tyranitar MT deck.

I've been testing that out and BOY is it fun, and fast. It's actually kinda scarry how fast it can move with Phione....

T1 Delcatty FTW!!

Blaziken can snipe :D

Oh good! More fire pkmn for me to pwn. lol

Assuming the Eeveeltuions and all the fossils are being moved into the set after GE; the cards that stand out quickly are Wailord, Togekiss, Sceptile, Mewtwo, Claydol, Blaziken, Phione, Slowking, Unown G, Mawile, Darkrai, and the 4 Lvl X's. Most of these cards will more than likely be incorporated into decks in the current metagame. Blaziken might find it's way into a Magmortar deck in place of Typlosion, Mewtwo or Cressalia Lvl X could be teched into G&G, Blissey could find new partners in Darkrai/Darkrai Lvl X or Togekiss. Some of the other cards I listed can fill tech spaces in decks to make them stronger, more consistant, or faster. Phione, and Slowking can both do pretty amazing things and could put some decks that just weren't good enough over the top to make a challenge to the 3 big decks. Claydol, Unown G, and Mawile counters to cards running rampant right now (Absol and Gallade), and will more than likely make a big difference at States. Wailord, Sceptile, and Blaziken (and maybe Swampert) look to be the cards that could spawn decks around them.

I also forgot to mention Pachirisu and Lapras. If either, or both, of these are in GE they add even more great starters into the mix, which never hurts.
