Didn't see anyone post this, it's been up since the 10th. Thought this part was interesting:

*Minimum invites per division. The maximum number of invites awarded at the Last Chance Qualifier is determined by the maximum event size of the World Championships, not by total attendance of the Last Chance Qualifier. Players who earn invitations without Travel Awards must send travel verification in the form of airline itineraries, hotel booking receipts, or other proof of planned travel to [email protected] no later than 7/14/2008 or forfeit their seat into the event. Seats not claimed may be rolled into the Last Chance Qualifier.

So, you are required to check in beforehand if you earn an invite. This means we should know the amount of seats available from the Grinder before it actually occurs. I think this is great.

That's the plan. Ideally we'll update the FAQ far enough in advance that players will know exactly how many invites are available via the grinder about a month before the event. Obviously that number could change due to extenuating circumstances, but it should give plenty of advance warning to players so that they know what to expect. It's our first year trying this, so I can't guarantee that it'll come out perfect, but its worth a shot.

Eh, we don't ask for perfect, Mike: we ask for the attempt at perfect, so major kudos to you guys. I think this is GREAT :thumb:

Yea Grinder!!

This is a fantastic idea. I am so looking foreword to participating in the LCQ again this year. The Last two I did were incredibly fun to be in. This has been an outstanding year for Organized play so far, and I am looking foreword to an even better half to come. Thanks for all of your hard work to everyone at POP and PUI

LCQ: either Prozac or ProPlus for the staff :D

Florida is going to be BIG

( hope I've got the Pro-Plus reference to translate into 'American')

Not all of us do, there's still those parties out there who say nothing is wrong with the current system, and it's the players' fault for not trying harder. I say nuts to them.

Kudos to POP for listening!!!

Just curious is there any new news on any special rates at the Hilton yet?

Just Wondering,
Drew

Great question! I just picked up tons of Disney travel info and wondered the same thing.

Also, for all of you experienced Worlds players - can you give me an idea of how busy the weekend is for attendees? I know that Saturday is full of tournament but what about Sunday? Is it a long day? Thanks!

In Worlds 96 we were two blocks from Disney and all the kid wanted to do was pokemon.

I find that I never leave the hotel really. It is kind a scary. Going on vacation and never leaving except to eat. In the 3 years I have been going to worlds. The only time I left the hotel during worlds is when I had lunch in the R3/R4 break in Anheim. I then proceed to spill my drink and almost got it all on Kettler. However, if you want to leave the hotel to see the sites, I would be an xtra few days before or after worlds.

Thats JMO,
Drew

It could be worse Drew, you could be mistaken for a foot locker employee at Disney :p

Would that have been with those referee vests they had us wear the first year?
