Why isn't there 5 damage or 15 damage and so on?

I've been wondering, why havn't there been attacks that did 5 damage or 15 or 25 damage and so on?
It would greatly improve a person's math and there would be harder decisions being made when spreading damage.

It is most likely to SIMPLIFY the game a little bit. POP doesn't want the game TOO complicated just for making damage counters.

I know this sounds a little dumb, but why is all damage in multiples of 10. E.g. why doesn't a pokémon with 120HP instead have 12HP and attacks that do 50 instead do 5? The game would work no differently.

Yeah, but everyone who played the game would probably die of laughter upon seeing a fully evolved Charizard with 12 HP - I know I would, Granted, the HP numbers are still off somewhat for most of the Pokémon, but this way, it's much closer to the game than 12 HP would be.

I knew it. It was a marketing ploy. Charizards that did 10 damage and had 12 hp wouldnt attract little kids.
Nice thinking Nevermore.

Not to mention that it would be way too complicated for people who keep track of damage and HP in their heads. That's how almost everyone I know keeps track of them. Plus it would change how the game would be played (think about the cards that have "this attack does 10x the no. of heads).

:lol::lol::lol: Great point!

But then, 15 damage? that's complicated ...*dizzy

^Huh?

Anyway, it's so that you don't get confused. The math would be harder; thus making little kids confused; less sales.

I usually write other numbers like 50 and 100 on the backs of my damage counters, so I don't use too many (helpful if I'm sharing them). This last batch I got (from the DP1 Torterra deck I just bought) I wrote numbers like 20, 30, 15 and 5 on them, just to mess with my buddies.

You guys know what? I actually wrote 70 or 80 or 100 on the back of the poison and burned marker. By doing that, U don't need that much counters.

I thought the back of Poison was for Toxic (place 2 damage counters, not 1), and the back of Burn was for Super Burn (Magmortar LV.X)? :/

As for damage being in multiples of ten... Look at the HP of pokemon in the Gameboy Games about at the level that they appear in the card game (LV.50 or lower, usually). It's... Actually not that far off [del]for people who don't EV train[/del]. Clearly weakness now is off, as in the gameboy games, you'd usually be able to type match then get OHKOs all over the place, but that's irrelevant.

think to yugioh....

8000 life points... LOL

That's not a good comparison at all because life points can be damaged even by a single point, the more digits the more options you have, while in Pokemon you can only do it in multiples of 10.
