Other Information:
Your deck must comply with the Modified Format as outlined in the Pokémon Organized Play Tournament Formats document.
Bring a list of all cards in your deck (otherwise known as a decklist). This will be reviewed at registration.
Bring your POP ID card, if you have one. If you don't have a POP ID, one will be given to you at the event.
Every qualified player must have an updated "My Pokémon" account in order to be eligible for the Travel Award.
See the Pokémon Tournament Rules here for more information about what to bring to an event.
Make sure you arrive on time. If you are late for registration, you will be entered with a first-round loss. You must bring your Origins event ticket. Players without a ticket will not be registered.
To participate in the event, you must be a player in good standing and abide by the Pokémon Tournament Rules and all other applicable event rules.
See the Legal Notices for certain eligibility requirements and other information, including information concerning limitations on Pokémon USA, Inc.'s liability.

What is the tournament structure?
The tournament is run using the Modified (HP-on) Format and Swiss plus Single Elimination.

The National Championships will be broken into groups by age divisions and will be run using Swiss Pairings. Because Swiss rounds are dependent upon total attendance of each age division, Swiss rounds will be announced on site. Swiss rounds will feature one-game matches.

After the final round of Swiss, the top players from each age division (depending on attendance levels) will move into a single-elimination round. Single-elimination rounds will be a best-of-three game format and will have a 60-minute time limit per match.

National Championships events have a K-Value of 44. For more information on K-Value and Ratings and Rankings, click here.

I'm assuming no invite mention for 5th-8th is a mistake, because it clearly said on the Worlds FAQs that they were getting invites w/o paid trips. We also won't hit 512 in 15+, maybe close, dunno about other divisions.

I wonder if by not capping while they will top cut, if they would consider a cut of 64 for the Masters division if we hit a number of 500+ participants. That would be great, and I know I would plan accordingly since they didn't set a cap at top 32. I can see the advantages far out-weighing the negatives to adding the extra round, which was discussed heavily at one point on these boards.

If you look at the Origins Website under the event, I am going to be proven wrong.

Since this morning, 490 of the masters spots have been filled! That leaves only 22 spots left, so, get going kiddies!

I know PUI have probably locked a block of these for the Regionals and States Winners (since I see that 77 of the Juniors and Seniors places are taken), but this amount of rush for Masters! Whoa!

Glad I got in already!

LOL - gotcha (at least a little bit)

If they pull 1024 Masters before Origins starts, I don't know how they'll be able to keep tying Nats to a gaming convention. They might have to break free.

I know of a pretty large hall in Chicago, if they're interested :D

You need to wait until the Origins events get posted and event registration is activated. Expect that to be early May.

Relax.

First of all, the 1024 is all age groups, not just MAs. Reread the post, it is 512 MA cap and 256 each on JRs and SRs for a total event cap of 1024.

You preregister for the Pokemon events via the Origins website, once the Pokemon events are loaded in. You can do this when you purchase your badge. If you purchased your badge early, to save money (and before the Pokemon info was added to events), you can email them after it goes up to get your registration. You can also wait until Origins and register in person, Weds, Thurs. Friday and presumably even saturday morning. I wouldnt wait until Sat. A.M. myself, bc the lines can be long.

Drew, I never claimed to be nice, did I?

Love ya guys!

See ya at Nats.

Jimmy, I do need a GRINCH shirt made up!

Vince

Keith, I understand that. I was referencing the post directly above mine, which (to me, at least) seemed to implicate that we could pull 1024 Masters.

I can actually revise my post above. If we pull 1024 PEOPLE for Nationals, I can't see the event staying tied down to a gaming convention. Either it will move to its own location (I know a GOOD one near Chicago, Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont), or it will be Invite only. I REALLY hope they don't go the latter route, cuz it's nice to state that we've gotten the highest single tournament attendance out of all the games out there.

If Nationals cost $10 to play in, and we had 1024 players total, there would be enough money for another inflatable pokemon!!!

XD I had to do it!
