Long story short, we've lost two presidential candidates in a mere two days...One of which was the national frontrunner only a year ago or so!

So yeah, my intent for this topic is to continue general political discussion. Yayz. However, the most important question is...Just who is left?!

~~~Democratic Primary~~~
Hillary Clinton (Junior New York Senator)
Maurice ("Mike") Gravel (former Alaska Senator)
Barack Obama (Junior Illinois Senator)
~~~Republican Primary~~~

Mike Huckabee, former Arkansas Governor

John McCain, Senior Arizona Senator

Ron Paul, Texas representative

Willard ("Mitt") Romney, former Mass. governor

Discuss...

2/6/2008 Update: Mccain wins big in the West and Northeast, while Clinton and Obama struggle to overcome one-another. Huckabee and Romney split the "hardcore conservative" vote, and allow McCain the room he needs to _almost_ clinch the nomination.

Eh, I feel the same way. Although he has no realistic shot at the nomination, Ron Paul is "generally" (I have my reservations about the man) a solid alternative to the other three.

As for the general election, I predict that I will be voting-and campaigning for-John McCain.

now that edwards has been KO'd, hilary might put up a fight in the next primary by getting all the white votes that edwards wouldve gotten.

who the heck is maurice graveler

It's interesting, though. On the AOL straw poll, Edwards dropping out led directly to Obama gaining about 6 states. I get the feeling that the Edwards supporters are generally people who hate Hilary, but liked Edwards better than Obama.

Did Alan Keyes and gravel officially drop out?

Alan Keyes was "never" in it. Gravel is still listed.

RE Clay: it's interesting to compare Giuliani's strategy to Edwards. BOTH of them in my opinion want positions as Attorney General, but here's how they're handling it...

Edwards: is NOT endorsing anyone because he really wants to _force_ one of them to give him a cabinet position.

Giuliani: immediately endorsed McCain due to his inevitability; Rudy "knows" he'll get the position if McCain wins the general election.

"Willard"? His name is Willard? Ewwwww.

I had to misforture of hearing Keyes speak years ago.
He definitely was never "in it"

Yeah, but he practically dropped it at a very young age. He DOESN'T like the name. ;P

Interesting indeed...Id do like Guliani, and endorse straight out (Remember Henry Clay's Support for...man whats his name...ummm). Anyways..!

lol, rule, as if the President has enough power to warrant usage of that word.

I meant like rule as in do what ever the mess presidents do :tongue:
but think about... if a female pres. had a mood swing or something she might do something bad - oh,I dunno -declare war? Blow up EARTH!?!?!? :lol: I think I'm carrying it out of proportion (just a little)
