I was looking at the scans then I realized how amazing Houndoom was. When I first saw the translations for Great Encounters, I immediatly thought of Houndoom, so here's the list.

Pokemon: 15

4-4 houndoom (GE)
3-3 blissy
1 sableye (CG)

Trainers: 27

4 celios network
4 plus power
3 mentor
3 TGW
3 Tv reporter
3 cessation crystal
2 castaway
2 night maintnence
2 stevens advice
1 strength charm

Energy: 18

4 boost
4 Special dark
5 fire
3 holon ff
2 basic dark

The Strategy

Ok then, so the strategy to this deck is very simple, get turn one houndoor, attach a fire energy. Next turn get out a houndoom and attack for t2 80-110 or 40-70 with burn, or 20-50 (im including the pluspowers and strength charms for the dmg.) and discard a card from there hand... (i know its amazing!:thumb:) The sableye tech is for good top decks, and disable for blissy match-ups and it's a very good card in the format. The Blissy's are for beatdown after your first houndoom dies, bring one up with a holon ff and an energy or 2 hopefully, and just pound them get a fire from your discard and your not fish bait for gallade any more.. (well at least not as much.)

The Scans

Houndour L.13 – Fire – HP50
Basic Pokemon

[R] Ember: 20 damage. Flip a coin, if tails discard 1 Fire Energy attached to Houndour.
[C][C] Kick: 20 damage.

Weakness: Water (+10)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1

Houndoom L.41 – Darkness – HP90
Stage 1 – Evolves from Houndour

[D] Darkness Fang: 20 damage. Choose 1 card from your opponent’s hand without looking and discard it.
[R][C] Dark Flame: 40 damage. You may discard either 1 Fire Energy or 1 Darkness Energy attached to Houndoom. If you discarded a Fire Energy, the Defending Pokemon is now Burned. If you discarded a Darkness Energy, this attack does an additional 30 damage.

Weakness: Water (+20)
Resistance: Psychic (-20)
Retreat: 1

Comments and suggestions would be great, enjoy!

More Fire Energy. Houndour requires it to attack T1 (which is vital for a quick damage deck), and Houndoom requires it for its highest damaging attack. I would say add at least 2 more.

If you take out the Honchkrows (I don't know, I just don't seem them here...), you could take out the DRE and Scramble and add Crystal Beach (a good card in today's metagame). Not to mention Cessation Crystal. If you go this route, Castaway would be a MUST. Castaway would be good no matter what in a Houndoom deck, I think (get the specific kind of Energy you want, Fire or Dark, and also the Strength Charm you need for the KO, etc.).

I don't think Houndoom's partner is Honchkrow...but what...? Maybe Blissey (I know, Blissey is dead, but why not). Start by attacking with Houndour/doom (discarding Energies along the way), and then bring up Blissey (which you've hopefully attached a Holon FF to). But then Crystal Beach wouldn't work unless you didn't play Boost, which Blissey and Boost are sort of married to each other.

Aade8, Blissey is NOT dead. In my area, it and Empoleon are like the most used cards. And NO one plays Gardylade!

Anyway, have you tested Honchkrow? 'Cause I don't see any synergy between Houdoom and Honchkrow.

aade8, thanks for the comment, blissey seems like a great possiblity with this deck, I'll build it both ways and see which works better. Thanks for the input.

arceus999 Blissy is not dead in my area either, its gallade and blissy all the way. But the synenergy between the 2 were the discard card from hand, and good dmg output.

kd9229437, what does no mean?

I will probaly end up playing blissey with the houndoom, seems like a great idea, thanks agian aade8.

Updated list.

i really like this deck idea! :thumb: but i think that a 1-1 darkrai X and a 1-1 weavile would be REALLY good in this deck. if you play a moonlight stadium or 2 then after your houndooms have done their damage, you send up darkrai, lv up, and retreat for a blissey, waevile for blissey to be a dark type, and then get back a basic dark for an additional 20  or if not i would go total lockdown playing like 3 cess crystals and 3 crystal beach. it would give you a huge advantage.

Kristi, would a 1-1 line of weavile and darkria do much? You have to have weavile as your starter for it to work (pretty much.) Right now it is kind of like, bannete/blissy or lucario blissy, just 2 4-4 lines. Although I was thinking about making blissy 3-3 and give more room for trainers.

tc19930815, Absol would be a good starter, but it kind of slows the deck down.. With this deck I would want to be hitting for a tun of dmg by turn 2, rather then disrupting your oppenent with absol and trying to set up, the deck has to be quick and be able to beat down.

Personally, I think
4 Absol
4-4 Houndoom
4 special dark
8 basic dark
4 basic fire
is best.
That way you get early disruption and can keep it up w/ Houndoom who can hit for 20+ also.
Then you can start dishing out heavy damage w/ Houndoom 70+ for 2.

yeah, i guess your rite but i still think that the total lockdown situation is really good in this deck. you could shut down magmortar and GG and most other stuff too. they wouldnt be able to setup or function as well with crystal beach and Cess Crystal in play. you should try it

If I play crystal beach, then blissy wont be as good with boost, cause beach kills it. Unless I wanted to take out boosts.. Ya im going to change blissy to 3-3.

I kinda liked the blissy idea because houndoom discarded the energy then after pounding on them with houndoom, bring a a blissy and pound some more. But after seeing peoples ideas and suggestions with 4-4 doom and 4 absol, im not sure what ill end up running. Ill test both decks and see how they work.

Well, multi does only provide ONE

of EVERY type of energy at the same time.

70+burn. Suh-weet!
