Yeah, I'm BSing you. That was one HECK of a release week. Four games over 100k, but Brawl, WTH. 819,647. That's all that needs to be said. This will sell through like Wii Sports and Melee for the GCN.

As expected of a huge release week, Wii is tops in hardware sales. This is expected. And I'll expect it to stay there for at least the next 2-3 weeks b/c of Brawl.

How can the PSP have the second worst SW sales and still have the 2nd most HW sales? This is insane. I don't know how much longer this system can keep it up. I almost expect it to drop off at some point. In another couple of weeks, it will likely become the NDS of 2007.

DS sales dropped. Still, those are good sales. Apparantly, 22 million isn't the satuation point for a handheld in a country of around 100million. That's some insane sellthrough rate.

PS3 rode the coattails of Devil May Cry 4 and Disgaea 3. I don't see it maintaining 40k+ over the next few weeks, cuz DMC isn't exactly the top tier killer app that Sony has been looking for. Still, it's a solid franchise that's gotten some good games over the last few systems.

Devil May Cry series has fallen since 2, first one will always be the best, 2 and 3 were jokes and only reason I am not surprised its at #2 is the fact that aside from Brawl being released, its really the only notable game for the PS3 to buy.

I dont know what the heck Disgaea 3 is.
 
I think it sold more than the entire 2-10, much less the 11-XX...
 
2-10 sold 692,489 units combined. That leaves a 127,158 unit gap. It outsold at least 2-15 combined. It's unknown how close 11-20 are, but since sales seem to drop off exponentially, it's probably a safe--and conservative--bet to say Brawl outsold 2-20 combined. Had DMC4 not been released this week it probably would have beat 2-50.
 
Even more reason to watch Haruhi, but let's not get off track here, Chris.
 
Well, I felt it was at least related to the topic at hand since the game in question launched last week (the 31st I believe) at the #4 spot.

That being said, the amount of PS3 software in the top 10 is actually suprising. Especially Disgaea 3 charting.
 
Well seeing Disgaea 3 up there, whatever the heck that is, only reason its not surprising is for the fact that game sells are dependent on what released within that week or month.

I remember looking Guiness Book of Records about the fastest selling game ever, oddly enough the answer was just a shock, it was Diddy Kong Racing on the N64, well if your a gamer and you frequently buy games like alot of people with a console do every week or 2 weeks or every month, and if the only good game or descent game that might be coming out is in that time frame of a month, then its probably going to be the best selling game as nothing can compete with it. So I am guessing people who dont have a Wii is probably the same people who bought Disgaea 3 and Devil May Cry 4. I am kind of certain the Sony Fanboys got DMC4 because its Devil May Cry. But thats the reasoning behind it.

Disgaea is an incredibly niche SRPG series.

The real question is why did they release this on the PS3 instead of the PS2 or Wii.
