Kingdra EX Swarm: Over Looked; or Under Achieving?

At the end of last season, a huge debate came over my favorite card, Kingdra EX. We discussed and proved why and how Kingdra EX Swarm could be the BDIF coming into the next season. At the time, MT was the last set released. I still believe that this could be the BDIF IF played right. I also believe that it could easily win some states. Heres my reasoning:

1) Kingdra EX can be easily swarmed and his Body be abused.
2) Nothing(Outside of Gallade) can OHKO it, and I believe most things cant 2HKO it.
3) It has Energy Accel. Built in.
4) It can 2HKO eveything in the format(Except Wailord, but you know..)
5) It practiclly has no weakness.

Those are just 5 of the reasons that I believe that Kingdra EX could be a contender in this format.

Please discuss.
 
If you do use it, you better be packing Unown G's. Sonic Blade is still just as evil as before.
Honestly, The problem I see with Kingdra ex is he doesn't reduce damage by enough. The max you can do is -40. Bieng Realistic, 4/5 games you will only be able to pull out 3 kingdra (due to a horsea or kingdra bieng prized), so -30 is more realistic. -30 is nothing to Magmortar, it won't be enough to prevent immeadate death from a Sonic Blade after a windstorm then being nailed by a Psychic Cut, and those two prizes will add up quickly.

Now if you put him with a healing pokemon like Cresselia, who can not only move counters away from Kingdra, he cna also fully heal in case of emergency.

the thing i like about kingdra is that you don't have to discard anything from your hand unlike flygon and like he mentioned it self powers and pretty much has no weakness, which probably isn't a big deal anyway. Unless i can get my Charizard D/Togekiss to work more efficiently, and I can tech in a warp point in or two.:thumb:
 
The BDIFs have all either been insanely fast or capable of OHKOs on demand. Some could even manage both! Kingdra EX swarm is good but is not fast nor can it deliver a OHKO when required. If Kingdra EX could hunt then it would be a candidate 'bdif'. Energy link for :fighting: might be enough to make it fast but :fighting::colorless is too slow.

Its not a hard deck to setup but when they warp you then it sucks and this would people play Vire more which OHKO and vire plays warps. It has great matchups against mostly every deck except Vire.
 
how can magmortan ko it without 9 energy? who would put that on magmortar?
it is a good deck, but who to start? pachi? casty?

Fire starter to it three times, and have two scrambles on. I'll simply send up a few Pacharisus and let you ko them til I'm 3 prizes behind, at which point I fry your Kingdra, and still have enough power to wipe out another.

I noticed you didn't even attempt to say how you would counter such a strategy. But just to make it quite clear, I will give you an answer, after I flamebroil your giant sea horse, you send up a non ex pokemon, so that when I ko it, the prize count will be even, and I will not be able to easily shoot another one down.

Allow me to immeadiatly kill this option for you. I level up, drop another fire, and spank one of your kingdra ex's. Next turn, if you send a Kingdra out, I can attach an energy, and still be doing enough damage to take you down. If you do not, I can either have Magmortar stay active and rough up your active a little, I can Warp Point, fire starter(s), retreat, and nail another kingdra, or I can simply power up another Magmortar and smile at you as I mockingly end my turn, putting my hands behind my head and leaning back in chair.

I can deal bench damage, you cannot. I can take you down in one shot, you cannot do the same. I can easily replace my main attacker in a few turns every time he goes down, you cannot. I am faster, stronger, and have more options than you do. In short, you can NEVER win if I setup.

Sorry if thats harsh, but its true.
 
well spreading isn't much of an option against kingdra and i think anyone would see that, and would set up flame blast. and you, are limited to attacking and knocking out the pokemon of the mag players choice, you can take advantage of kingdras first attack, but getting two scrambles in my hand isn't even a problem, you have to be really patient though but it's a pretty safe strat

gallade is really only a problem at all, if they can sonic blade, or if they psychic lock your ferow LOL, unkown g has to stick during their turn so i don't know how you can realisticly prevent it
 
gallade pretty much killed kingdra by being printed, and we all had high expectations of unkown g ruining sonic blade, but the only thing that ruins sonic blade is wp and water and unkown g on a draggy ex d with sceptile but mag ruins that soo... kingdra isn't bad at all, i just think the standard is high, if it were a dp card it would be broken
 
i thought they ruled magmortars text as energy cards?
scramble doesnt even work for magmortars first attack it will take 9 energy cards
 
I played kingdra this year. After 2 tournaments, I stopped. A BDIF can turn a one sided game into an Auto-Win with ONE CARD. Kingdra... cant. It's incredibly slow and just BAD/
