Excellent card here. Great HP, exceptional attacks, decent retreat cost. One more added bonus is that both attacks only need a colorless energy, so it can basically fit into any deck! Definitely the best of its class.

I am sure Blissey variants and Honchkrow, and probably every Lucario/Banette variant out there will not play Pachirisu.

I think that this could help alot in honchkrow, it gets you 3 murkrow to use with your honchkrow, AND kills tools. IMO pachirisu is the besst starter out there. 9.5/10, because of the weakness:)

Since it's the card of the day, does anybody have them for trade/sale? Me and my family need around 16. As for rating 10/10.

The only problem I have had with the weakness is that Gallade can OHKO it without flipping any prizes. This is annoying when you're trying to sacrifice it to make a comeback by stalling.

^Well, a perfect card to me means that it does it job perfectly, not that it is perfect at every moment during the game. I get what you're saying about not being able to build a deck around Pachirisu, but it still does its job almost to perfection. However, I have a few things to say about this Pikasquirrel...

I'm quite surprised at all the hype this card has gotten. I mean, I recognize it as a great card, but most of its comparisons are to SS Dunsparce. Let's look at the history of "Basic-grabbing Basics" with this game. Dunsparce was an amazing card that found its way into nearly every deck. If you didn't have 4 slots open for it in your deck, many would say that you didn't have a deck. When Dunsparce rotated, everyone turned their eye to DX Plusle, another Basic that could grab you more Basics with a second attack that was amazing. However, the entire strategy for getting Basic Pokemon into play soon changed with the addition of one particular card: Holon Mentor. With Holon Mentor essentially doing what Dunsparce could do, who wouldn't run it? Why risk running Plusle if you could just throw in Mentor and get started with your main Pokemon (or something else to set you up)? Look at the typical MetaNite build of last season. Did you see any Plusle in those decks? Any Lanette's Net Search (the "Corsola" of Basic-grabbing Supporters)? Nope, you saw Mentor with a good starter that didn't get Basic Pokemon -- Holon's Castform.

The thing is, Pachirisu is overshadowed by the existence of Holon Mentor. Yes, it's true that Mentor isn't as powerful without Holon Transceiver, but with 4 in your deck you're still leaving yourself with plenty of room to focus on Basic Pokemon that can help you set up in different ways... Pokemon such as SW Mew, Stantler, Baltoy, etc. The reason I'll put Pachirisu in my deck, however, is because of its second attack. Smash Short is basically a Windstorm in the form of a Basic Pokemon (with the exception of not being able to get rid of Unown G). With the absence of such things as Cessation Crystal, I've wanted to drop Windstorm from my deck altogether. Pachirisu lets me do that, since I can always rely on it to knock off those pesky Cessation Crystals if I need to. Since it's a card that can be recycled back into my deck, it's great both early game and late game. So though Pachirisu's first attack isn't all that much to look at, its second attack certainly is, warranting at least 1 spot in most decks as a tech.

I'll give it a 7 out of 10 in the current modified format. Not all decks will even use Pachirisu, but most decks will tech at least 1 in because of its second attack. If you don't go up against any Pokemon Tools that need to be done away with, however, Pachirisu probably won't even hit the field.

IMO Pachirisu is a far superior play to Holon Mentor. With Mentor not only are you using your supporter for the turn (and you can't even play supporters T1 going 1st), but you're potentially having to sacrifice something unless you're running 4 Stantler or something else. So, not only do you need the Mentor RIGHT away, but you also need an energy to retreat whoever you start with. Pachirisu is card advantage. Yes, you don't start with it every game, but the times you do, it is definitely worth it. 4 Pachy and 2 Research is a great play right now in a lot of decks.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

To add on to what I said, Holon's Castform is nowhere near what it was and it was the reason Holon Mentor was a great card. Take a look at the past: We had Delcatty, and we ran Dunsparce with it and then our main attacker. We now have Claydol, Delcatty AND Porygon 2. I would rather start with Pachy 40-50% of my games and just have to get one Celio, rather than have to start with Mentor (lower chance as well due to pokemon mulligans for Pachy), potentially lose whoever I start with because I have to use a Celio in addition to Mentor the next turn (this could already be T3.....), and THEN still have to run Windstorm and a Stantler or two just for insurance. You're talking about 2-4 EXTRA cards. JMO.

All you had to say was that I should play Pachirisu because it's cute. I would've bought it.

Seriously though, great response. I think the main reason I haven't been using Pachirisu is because I've been experimenting more with some of the other interesting starters we have. Sableye plus the Pokeball system is great, and the SW Mew is an incredible 1-card answer to getting set up since I can use its attack on the first turn even if I don't start with it. Plus, other choices I've been working on for States simply cannot fit 4 (or even 2 or 3) Pachirisu in the deck.

But I agree with what you said in terms of decks that can effectively use Pachirisu. Sometimes the build of the deck requires a lot of Basic Pokemon or a quick set up. For decks like Magmortar varients (Typhlosion/Blaziken), Hurricane, and others, Pachirisu is the superior play. But think about G&G decks -- is Pachirisu worth playing over Sentret/Furret? Though most decks can gain strength from using Pachirisu, others simply don't need it.

I still think Pachirisu's second attack is awesome though.

Yeay Dunsparce from SS has a friend that has the same first attack!!! Hopefully it will be gone t3 after that its a dud!
10/10 if you open with it

Goodness people hype gallade up so much, you would think it was the strongest card out there now. But 10/10 (even though I give more props to lapras because it's my baby).

Ladies and gentlemen, please meet the next SS Dunsparce!

Call for Family is a vital attack to readily retrieve three Basic Pokémon in your deck onto your bench. This sets you up for your next turn to evolve Pokémon to enhance your side of the battle.

Fighting types are in the game, possibly Gallade and Lucario. I do not see them being a problem as Pachirisu will not stay out the entire game.

Unlimited: 9/10

Pachirisu is a great card, but not worth a 10. It is just too over-hyped. to the guy who says mentor is inferior to the squirrel, i would have to disagree. To use pachi, you need 2 cards, not 1(you need an energy!!!). Mentor is not card specific in discarding, while pachi needs an energy card attachable to basics(cannot use evolution requiring energy, so no dre or boost Q.Q). Even though using mentor is using your supporter for the turn, Pachi uses your energy attach for the turn. Pachi is just some tool-crushing tech to put into poke-power/body heavy decks. Mentor can also be used mid-game without needing bench space. Casty is not dead either. the only reason why it was supposedly "dead" was because of t1 KO with riolu/cario, but cario decks are starting to dissapear (t2 blissey, t2 kricket, honchie, and fire TRUK are rising in popularity). Delta decks have the potential to come back, if only people would stop worrying about getting t1'ed.

Now to pachirisu itself. Its got 70 hp, great for basics, but its +20 weakness may get it killed faster. Resistance is pointless, considering it is very rare to find metal decks in the current metagame. It is electric, but not many things in the format are weak to it that are going to be played. Its retreat cost means wasting an energy(unless you play trainers like switch). First attack gets 3 basics for one colorless so it is useful to some decks regardless of colors. Good, but not the best(IMO). Pachi is just a one hit (maybe two)wonder, considering you fill your bench with two of this attack. Second attack is actually the best part about pach(again, IMO). One colorless for 10 is common, but the effect is what makes it a great card. Taking out a tool for 1 energy is good, and adding 30 dmg when you do it is better.

The rarity is holo rare, which means it is harder to pull from a pack and is worth more $$$. The are is beautiful, one of the best pictures in the tcg. The set is great encounters, which just recently came out so it may be harder to find due to this as well as rarity.

Pachirisu is a good card, but not 10/10 quality.
I give the squirrel 7/10 (modified, or whatever the main event tournaments' format is called) because it is not as useful as everyone thinks it is and there are other options that can be more efficient based on the deck.
