TheDarkTwins NJ States Report - I HATE STALLING!!

So, I decide to play my GG deck that I have tested. I feel confident about it.

R1 - Brian C. (Mirror)

I get a Pachirisu start and I get setup. I start using my "tech" to mess up him up. He ends up taking the first prize, but I take 6 of the next 7 to win.

Win

1-0

R2 - Josef Bolten (Banette/Blissey)

I start with Pachirisu again and find out that my Sableye is prized, that doesnt help me out. Anyways, we trade prized with him taking the first prize. I end up having only 2 Ralts in play with my Cresselia Lv. X and some other non-helpful pokemon. So, his active Banette has only 20 on it. So, I am trying to figure out how to knock it out with out losing next turn since I had 2 prizes to his 1. I decide to candy into my active Ralts to Gardy SW, and use his Celio's (as I used mine supporter already). I then candy to the Gardy PK on my bench. I attach a DRE to Gardy SW, and then Psy Shadow to it also. I move 1 to Banette to ko it. He brings up Chansey and Evolves to Blissey, however he cannot do enough damage to ko Gardy and I Level up next turn and win.

Win

2-0

R3 - Peter O. (Mirror)

I start with Sableye for this game. I get a quick setup and use my "tech" to mess with his. I then proceed to set him up to ko his pokemon. I win on time as I have taken 5 prizes to 4. I think I had him on my next turn or 2.

Win

3-0

Lunch Break - I get a slice of Pizza

R4 - Eric (Magmortar/Claydol/Arcanine)

I feel good about this matchup and I should, let just say the Judges were up to snuff on this round. They starter waaaaay before anyone was ready and that wasted like 5 min off the round because we didnt know we started. This is everyone not just me. I ended up only getting like 6 turns this whole game because my opponent was taking about 3 1/2 minute turns. When time is called I though we still had about 10 min left in the round since it felt like we only had 20 min. to play. I was furious as next turn I ko his active and he is left with pretty much Claydol and no energies and I would of procced to take the next 2-3 prizes and most likely of won the game. I also started with Pachirisu this game. But my opponent stalled so much it isnt funny. I was very very upset.

Loss

3-1

R5 - Darrell (Magmortar/Claydol/Arcanine)

I get a Cresselia start and I proceed to screw up and play Ralts down after attach to my active Cresselia. I could of not played it cuz I could of gotten Pachy next turn. I then proceed to make a huge mistake in the middle of the game and he wins on time. I wasnt too happy. I was so upset about the last game I made a few mistakes. I really did myself in on this game.

Loss

3-2

R6- John Conti - (Rogue Water)

I start with Pachirisu and find out that 3 Ralts and my Gardy Lv. X were prized, My start was amazing if it wasnt. I had in my hand - Pachy, Energy, Celio's, RC, Kirlia x2, Gallade. I end up winning as he has an energy drought pretty much the whole game.

Win

4-2

10th.

I would of been 4-0 if it wasnt for the judges messing up the time and my opponent stalling like mad.

Sorry to say Drew, but even reading just your side of it, I don't see stalling.
Maybe slow play throughout the match, but if that was the case, you have to bring that to the judge's attention early.

I was taking 1 1/2 min turns. Lets say we only got 25 min in the round. That means I took up 9 minutes compared to 16. I think that is stalling wouldnt you?

JMO,
Drew

No, that's slow play, as I said.
Not saying that it's not something to have brought up to the judge.
But it's different than stalling, especially if he was doing it from turn one.

I was going to but when you start a round 5 min before everyone is ready and then not call out the under 10 min I cant do much. I was about to call over a judge when time was called and I was absolutely suprised that time was called when it was.

i wasnt there drew but the kid u faced is new to the game and it was just 1 game >.> he took his time cause it was his first tourney relax lolz u were still 3-1 and should have made top cut, it happens

That isnt a valid point, if you new you should still play in a timely manner, you should have to ask so many questions. While I can see your point, the judges should of done a better job overall, just because he is new doesnt mean he gets extra long turns.

Drew

i agree it seems the judges messed up but you shouldnt expect a first timer to play in a timely manner. **** in my first tourney my biggest problem was playing faster myself cause i was use to taking my time and thinking things ova. The judges may have messed up but dont call the kid who i never even met a staller or anything i heard it was his first tourney give him a chance

drew who ended up winning?

srry about what happend

I dont know, I know who was still playing in T4 though.

It was Diaz (GG) vs Darrell (Magmortar) and Durso (GG) vs Jimmy O. (GG). I know that Diaz had a 1-0-1 Empoleon line in his deck for the Magmortar Matchup.

Thanks for your comments.

Drew, everyone hates stalling but you just have to deal with itI could have some sympathy for you but I'm not going to since you give an excuse for pretty much every match you lose.

srry but it is the truth

Ps- read the 2nd quote of pokepop's signature

Did you actually read my report? I said I lost because I made mistakes in R5, I blamed myself, way to be arguementative about this. I dont see why I am getting bash to all heck because I feel that I got stalled out in a hugh premier event.

King - So I heard.

because you put in huge letters and I quote

"I HATE STALLING"

Drew, I had a similar situation like this happen to me at Worlds in 2006 when I was actually told by a judge that I had about 3 minutes left in the round and time was called not but 30 seconds later. I needed one more turn to win, but oh well...

I do agree that it sounds more like slow play to me than stalling, as the guy was a beginner, but I just wanted to say that either way, I'm sorry for what happened. Even though you should have called a judge, I can see where you had trouble with the whole time thing.

Time +5 turns for the win...

I had that happen in T32 at 2006 worlds, and I was trying to call over the judge. I agree with you that +X turns solve this. I guess it could be consider slow play but even so, I think there should of been a time extension. Thanks for you imput. :thumb:

JMO,
Drew

I've always though that time restrictions within the Pokemon TCG need a lot of shaping up; it's just sad to see the issue pop up time and time again (no pun intended). I lost 4 matches total at Worlds, 3 of which I would have won with one more turn... just one more turn...

Anyways, just know that you're not alone. Anyone who's bold enough to say "just deal with it" has probably never had the issue come up against them. It's very frustrating to say the least.

I asked one of my opponents today if he wouldn't mind speeding up, simply because it was coming down to time and he was just sitting there doing nothing for about a minute (he was ahead at the time). He got offended at my request and seemed very irritated, and this was without me even calling the judge over. We finished on time, but it's still kind of a tricky issue.

Drew. Wasn't there. Two things.

1. Raise your hand
2. Bad form calling out a judge in public.

Good luck next weekend.

Hey Steve,

I would have but I thought there was 5-10 minutes left in the round so I thought I wouldnt need to since next turn I tie the game up and the following I would of taken the lead. However, I was just about to when time was called. Our 4th round was incredibly short you have no idea.

On number 2, normally I would agree with you, but this is like the 20th+ time that I have had a problem with THE SAME JUDGE, and I can promise you that I am not the only one that feels that way. In cities in T4 the same judge made a crucial judging error by letting my opponent attach to his active after he attacked so he could ko my active. I wouldnt of let him, but of course I was overruled even though it should of been my choice whether to let him attach of not. I just have certian things like this plus more about this 1 jugde. I really dont want to go into it anymore, however if you want to talk, I can give you a call to talk about it.

Erik - Yeh, I agree with you. Thanks again.
