What will come after Lv. X?

This is something I was thinking about today.

In the current format we have EX's and Lv. X's, both of which have their advantages and disadvantages. As you all know though after Worlds in August EX's will no longer be legal and Lv. X will be 'the' strong card.

I was just wondering about what people thought about the following things;


1. What will be the next 'strong' thing after Lv. X?

2. Will EX's ever make a return?



I personally don't think there will be a new thing after Lv. X. I am guessing that it will continue for many years to come, or after it gets rotated out they will just have strong cards. I do like the idea of it though.

And as far as EX's go, I honestly don't think we have seen the last of them. I could be completely wrong, but I have the feeling someday they might make a return, at least in some capacity. I don't know if Lv. X's and EX's could both be released together in a set though. I had this idea though;

A Pokemon Lv. EX

Imagine it. It would be a Lv. X, but a small bit stronger, however it would allow the opponent to draw 2 prizes when knocked out. Could this work?



What do you guys reckon about the future of EX and Lv. X?
 
The demise of ex's after world's is by no means certain, though the chances are good for that to happen. Since we can see no other set info past DP5 from Japan, right now it's just a matter of waiting to see what happens. Speculation is rather silly at this point.
 
it isn't likely that we'll see ex's again. what i'd like to see is a team galactic's set. we've had 2 team rocket set with team rocket's pokemon and a set with aqua's and magma's pokemon. I want Team Galactic!! (and while they're at it, how about "here comes team galactic," where i flip all my prizes face down)

I hope so, and I think they should! While Pokémon ex weren't based on the GBA games and didn't have any natural place in the world of Pokémon, * Pokémon definitely did. The same holds true for the DS generation of games, which the DP TCG is based so closely on.
 
what about a:

Dark Lv. Ex * Delta Species Pokemon?

It could happen.

I'm not being sarcastic either.

Or they could introduce another theme like Delta Species pokemon. And have Pokemon Lv. "w/e they come up with" Pokemon. Like when they combined Ex and Delta Species. Flygon Ex D, anyone?
 
We did well BS till Skyridge with no Exs or Lv.X (we had Shining and Crystal though) so I think we can manage them after DP is done. Team's or Gym's sets are definitely coming.. I dont see the reason why not. There are so many options available now that they could easily do at least 5 sets with that subtheme.
 
Think about it.... First we had ex's, Then *'s came along. We only have Lv.X right now. Hopefully they'll go back to at least stars or make some kind of card to replace them. Hopefully they will also make more sets w/ cards like deltas and gym leaders. Those were always fun!
 
Maybe the Dark and Light Pokemon will come back. Or how about the Gym Leaders coming back. What ever is next we are all in for a grand surprise!! HAVE A NICE DAY!!!
 
I really like Delta to...... their really fun.

I hope they bring back the Holon Engine..... it was so good.......... you could make a good comeback with it and it's kinda better than Castaway.
 
Personally, I think the game was much funner back in the old days when it was basic stuff.
None of thes ex's, lv. x's, supporters, etc.

I would love to see the end of Supporter draw engines and X cards.
Although, the game would either be extremely broken without supporters (ie. they remake cards like Bill, Oak etc.) OR it would be really hard to get good hands (ie. They don't make any really good non-supporter cards cept for Pokedex/Ball engine so it's hard to setup and slow paced)

I guess the game's pretty good righ now cept for lack of diversity.
