Brawl problem!

Well this sux!!
This is(supposedly) the exact thing that happened to me and my bro when we got home on sunday!
All I can say is, I'm surprised that nobody started a thread over this yet. Understand that by "a small percentage" They could be talking about 1% to as mush as 10% of people who bought it!

P.S. and despite that, I'm still baffled by the thought that I'm the one person here this happened to.

Yeah I heard about this the other day on a show on G4. Glad it didn't happen to us....Thanks for posting the site, but hopefully no one else on the gym will have the problem since is supposed to be such a small percentage. I can't see how you would be suprised though, since its such a small percentage.

Well thats not the first time Wiis had to be sent in for repairs.

I had do the same thing right after launch when a firmware updated disabled the Wii from ever going online again.
They sent me a new Wii and I sent mine back.

I think brawls problem is its too gosh darn big for what the Wii can handle, they should of had a Memory expansion option like they had on the N64, thats what the Wii needs after I started playing Brawl and saw the lag it had especially through the SSE.

No, that's not the problem. The problem is that Brawl is on a dual-layered DVD-Rom and a small percentage of Wii's have trouble reading/can't read dual-layered discs. A memory expansion would not help this problem in any way.

I didn't notice any lag during SSE, but I know a friend who did.

So basically the laser isn't working on the discs?

I finally got the game today from amazon, they shipped it early for once.

I am actually guessing if you put in alot of hours on the Wii prior to brawl is where the problem is with it not reading the BRawl Disc, I am not certain of that though.

Not the amount of time, but the amount of use. The lense is getting dirty and the laser can't well, you know do as much as it possibly could. All you have to do is buy a CD player cleaning CD. They have little bitty brushes on them that clean the laser lense when you put it in. If that doesn't work then something more serious is wrong with your Wii or your lense is scratched really, really badly.

What they should do is replace everyones laser with one that can handle the disc. I mean it reads on mine, but man the lag it has can get really annoying. The worst lag so far is at the end of Stage 11, after you get the score. It takes a good 20-30 sec before starting the Master Hand Match.

I get a good bit of lag sometimes to, usually when you go to somewhere new is where it lags, then its use to loading it that it wont lag any more, but when I did the SSE the lag was just horrendous on it at times.

Loading != Lag.

I just got mine back yesterday. I suspect they may have replaced my old Wii with a new one as all the scratches(not to mention my faulty eject button)were fixed. Plus, all the channels I had bought were gone and had to be re-downloaded. But it works fine now!

I get lots of lag from the Disc and it makes funny noises.
Lugia58 had the prob with options and spector mode not showing up.

Guys, loading time doesn't mean lag. We're referring to the lag we get online or the skipping in the middle of a match. ugh.

Ha Ha! Sucks For You!

I never had this problem cuz mine is hooked to the internet and has a frikin 6 gig SD card. All I do is store photos and videos on it. Did anyone ever get the replays on the computer off the SD?

The files for photos are stored as .bin files. This is the quote after Windows tries to find a program to open them:
No known program will open this file. This file is part of a program.
So those I don't think you will be able to get onto your computer. I don't know about the videos, but I doubt those work either.
