exploud, an underdog deck?

at the c.a states there were a couple people running exploud
i saw 2 at masters and 1 at seniors.
all did pretty decent, just the build wansn't right
it kills the bench with ambient noise
anyone think with the right build
this deck would have a chance against the
top tier decks liek a g&g or a magmortar?

Personally, I think its a 50-50 against Magmortar, but its big problem is vs Gallade. You need to prevent attacks, and prevent weakness at the same time. Weakness makes gallade's heavy hitting attack do more damage, so the gallade user doesn't have to flip that many prizes. The two ways that I can think of to get rid of weakness are Holon Energy FF, and Blastoise delta. Its no big deal so far, but you will also need to get rid of effects of attacks so the gallade user doesn't use gallade's first attack, and then follow up to ko the exploud. The only way I can think of to get rid of effects is Holon Energy WP. Keep in mind that to get a good, and protected Exploud, you have to have no effects, and no weakness. WP, and FF wouldn't be a good idea because you'll need 4 energies on your exploud to make it protected from Gallade. If you are going to play exploud, I would recommend that you play it with WP and Blastoise. The only problem with that plan is that keeping a WP, and a water energy on the exploud at all times while setting up, and keeping a Blastoise in play is hard during a normal game. For that reason, I don't think Exploud can be able to compete with Gallade until something comes out to tip the match into Exploud's favor.

couldnt you just play holon ff and unown g? That would cover weakness and effects, and with ff you could also play fightings, to make your banette matchup not suck quite so badly.

Unown G & Holon FF are both super helpful in the Gallade matchup. The problem with Exploud though is the flippy nature of his first attack. If you get lucky there are few decks that can beat exploud ... but bad flips can doom him even in the most favorable matchups. An extended run of bad luck will kill you and your record. I love exploud but will never run him in a sanctioned event again.

The problem with Unown G is that you also want to run cessation with exploud, since the combo of ambient noise + no powers is just too sick to pass up.

I run mine with Dodrio/scrambles/boosts and the holon WP with water/psychic. Dodrio adds decent fighting resistance, a free retreater, and an excellent cleaner after you've swarmed an exploud or 4.

I have played it, I can get swarms going with Dodrio, but it still is flippy because of all the damage. Not strategic enough.

Exploud/Dodrio is such a good deck, I mean spread and spread and lock until you can get multi KOs. Against Gardy u Ko the threats, against Magmortar you spread let them take prizes, spread with Exploud and then clean up with Dodrio. Its nice.

I forgot about unown g. Everyone ignore what I said in my last post! Unown G + Holon Energy FF is the way to go.

I don't like the deck anymore. I tried MadHatter's build (which looks at least halfway decent) and it worked just fine until I built it IRL...then it just tanked. I rarely got set up, and I never got the flips I wanted from Ambient Noise. The fact that you have to tech so much against GG to make it barely playable is really sad. Maybe once Nats rolls around and we see a meta shift, perhaps it might do better?

Exploud is good, but will get better along with MANY other cards after dp5 comes out. Played w/ Dodrio sounds pretty good. I'll have to try that out.

play it with altaria and holon wp, cess and crystal beach lock and ambient noise
thats how i do it and gg gives it no problems

The flip is a problem.

sometimes you got heads on the first and confuse them on the second flip.

sometimes you need 50 damage to KO but you get damage spread.

It also takes a ****-lot of time to KO 'one' gallade/gardy.

when u spread with Exploud,u can get multi kos anytime and if u play it with Dodrio, its like a god sent to to spread every turn sicne Dodrio will clean up

Except Flygon, that if you in that case DONT get the damage flip...

That is the problem with Exploud. The attack is awesome, but since sometimes you want some solid damage and Exploud can't easily guarantee that...yeah...

Boost Energy to use the second attack if you need it.

I tested some matches with Exploud, but it's still too flippy, so I didn't play it at states.

Any experiences about whether it's better to run build-up support (Claydol) or to use Cessation Crystal?

I've been testing it for awhile and it's definately better to play it with Cessation then Claydol.

I use Furret to set-up opposed to Claydol since it can get your techs, special energy, exploud swarm, etc. guaranteed whereas with Claydol you need to draw into them and you can't play Cessation.
