The Battle Tower??

Who else thinks that the Battle Tower on Diamond and Pearl not fair? I keep running into Shedinja and this little BUG/GHOST thing is a pain. Did the creators put it in there so it would be almost impossible to win the Battle Tower without a Fire or Dark type attack in your team?

I just don't think that's very fair when the good items are several Battle Points and you only earn 3 at a time. 48 Battle Points for a Rare Candy? And to think I can't even get 3 because I ran into Shedinja!! (Not that I would buy a Rare Candy, I'm just sayin')

So discuss!!!

Just Use fire types against that pokemon. It'll make It way easier.
I got that dude. I'm just saying that it's not really fair that I have to put a fire type in my team just to make sure I don't lose when I have way better pokemon then it.

That's considered an uber with Focus Band on it isn't it?

The Battle Tower doesn't have sleep clause or evasion clause or any of that stuff either. Of course it will seem to cheat if that's what you are used to. You don't need a fire type ... just have one team member know a fire, flying, rock, ghost, or dark attack.

I understand, I don't need advice.

I just wanted to know if other people thought that this was unfair to the unprepared.

I would hate to get to the 19th Battle and lose 20 BP just because some dude was using Shedinja.

Okay how about this?? I just battled a Ninjask with the Speed Boost Ability and he used dig every time!! You can't honestly tell me that is fair! I don't know what the evasion clause is, but that seems like it!

The Battle Tower is supposed to be challenging and difficult and RANDOM to test your abilities. Just because you beat the E4 doesn't make you the all time pwnzor of the Pokemon planet! Just be prepared for next time, and how much damage could DIG from a Ninjask possibly do to your team?

So its unfair that you lose? I don't think so, it simply means you need to get better.

While I agree with Pablo, I understand what toxictaipan is saying about the items. It's a chicken and egg situation, you need battle points to get the power items and you need the power items to get battle points. Well, you don't NEED but EV training is important and very slow without the power items. In terms of in-game no-outside-knowledge it is crucial to get the power items.

A lot! He has the Speed Boost ability, so he goes first, and Digs. I can't hit him but twice and don't have a super effective move so you do the math...

I understand it's supposed to be hard, but sheese! For a NooB who doesn't know anything about EVs it's darn near impossible!

And like Magic said, you need the BP to win the BP. My only good team is a Team full of LV. 100s I raised before I knew about EVs back in the LG/FR days (I was about nine).

And since I can't get the Items, it's hard for me to EV train my Pokemon.

He uses dig, you switch to a flyer/levitator. Dig misses. He attacks you. You attack it. Fair enough. You were never going to hit it first anyways.

You can hit Ninjask with Earthquake, OR the turn Ninjask attacks you, after using Dig, he's out of the ground now so whatever attack you chose will hit it. Seriously I can do the math, Ninjask + Dig = Sucks

A well trained team will nuke him, but I get toxictaipan's point. My 6 year old son got lucky, his team had an awesome naturally caught Walrien that carried him through Palmer's first battle and beyond (he lucked out on an autokill on the Milotic first attack ... then water/ice vs Dragonite & Rhypier). My older son is still ticked about that. I had to do some egg hatching to put together my own BT team after my haphazard first team got it's collective tail handed to it several times. It took some planning and patience, but that was it. The power items are nice but you really don't need them for battles 1-21 ... and that's the quick way to get battle points.

Ninjask=Flying. Flying immune to Ground. Earthquake=nothing.
Thank you Meditite!

Anyways, all I'm saying is if you no nothing about EVs and want to win the Battle Tower, you better learn!!

I just don't get why they put 3/4 of an uber in the Battle Tower, I battled a Wobbafette (or however it's spelled) in there and it took me 2 Pokemon to KO it!

Digging Ninjask isn't even a threat. Fighting Palmer the first time isn't even a threat. Once Palmer is defeated the second run, the AIs cheat (based on my experience)

You could, y'know, just use a Pokemon that knows a Dark, Flying, Rock, Ghost or Fire move. You don't even have to use a Pokemon of those types. There aren't many good reasons not to have any of those types on at least one of your Pokemon.

And I laugh at the fact you're complaining about a Pokemon using Dig. I'm laughing out loud.

Knows his stuff.

Ninjask=Flying.

It is indeed.

Flying immune to Ground.

Not always, only situationally.

Earthquake=nothing.

Earthquake hits pokémon on the turn they use dig no matter what.

Uber, non-uber classifications have not been develloped for the battle tower or anything controlled by AI. Wobb can be beaten easily with status or simply using swords dance or mirror coat continuously until you can KO it in one hit. In fact, as Wobb is not damaging you it is actually a blessing. You can boost your stats high and beat the other two very easily.

Funny anecdote about Wobbuffet and me:

When I was younger, my Mum (who doesn't actually know anything about pokémon) for some reason believed Wobbufet was actually called Robuffet with an R. Even though I said my Rs and Ws right in other words, as Wobbuffet was my favourite pokémon I talked about it all the time. Adamant that my pronounciation was continuously wrong, I had to see this speech therapist person in the end.

remember. Willo-Wisp can OHKO Ninjask after the turn. I think toxic can too.

You're thinking of shedinja. Shedinja is the only pokémon OHKOd by a status affliction.

But who to teach it too?

Raikou? Blastoise? Venusaur?

But yeah, I remember now!!!! But I'm not going to waste a Heart scale for Will-o-Wisp. I taught my Raikou Crunch.

Heart scales are abundant underground. If you dig until you get the crystal for having dug 100 fossils, you'll likely have 100+ heart scales.

Status conditions are not necessary but what is is a well thought out team.

Yeah I know that. I just ment there are better moves I could teach my Pokemon then Will-O-Wisp, Flamethrower for instance.

I'm just trying to get how you are supposed to beat 100 Battles in a row there, I'm having such bad type match-ups, or bad luck, or BOTH. So I don't see how I'm ever going to hit 100 straight wins in a row. Any tips other then EV training (that's too obvious)?
