They're spying on me

I need to whoop some spyware. What do I do?

If you have Windows, look up Windows Defender. It's a nice background program that runs automatically.

If not, try Ad-Aware and Spybot. Both are good, but they search for different things.

Either way, use Spyware Blaster to prevent Spyware from even hitting your computer.

^ Last I heard Ad-Aware doesn't get any updates for the free version these days

I use AVG for Anti Virus and Anti Spyware. Great free software with plenty of automatic updates!

I use Ad-Aware just for a search of basic spyware.(usually removes 100 low threats) Spy Sweeper(paid for) Avast! Antivirus and Comodo Personal firewall for my internet security needs. I've never been hit by a virus and spyware is swiftly removed if it even gets on here.

Yeah, Comodo is a great free firewall. Another great free one is ZoneAlarm.

I've had spysweeper in the past, and it worked extremely well.

I suggest, you delte any and all cookies on your computer first. Re-install the one you need liek for the gmy and such. Then disconnect from thei nternet. THen scan for spyware. THen scan for viruses

I once downloaded something that came with spyware that made lots of popups. Outer Info was the the type of ads.

Uhh... YAH :lol:. Very important. Try Comodo, it is easy to understand and use, and it is free.

I strongly suggest *not* using a software based firewall. For something like $30 you can get a router with a firewall built in. Hardware based firewalls are generally a lot better than software based ones and generally cause fewer problems for the folks using them as well. I've tried both solutions and would never go back to software. Most of the computer security folks I work with use these kinds of things themselves.

Ad aware was good back in the day. I would just say, get a Mac. They are pretty immune to viruses.

@vanderbilt_grad, yeah, that is probably true, but that would probably be too complicated for his purpose, plus it might cost little money.
