Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

I feel like quitting Pokemon.

Hey guys, I don't know what to do. Pokemon has gotten very boring, same old decks over and over. I have no more league to go to, and all my friends from the old league don't go to tournaments anymore. So I'm considering quitting since it isn't fun anymore, but for some reason I'm very sad about doing so. I was just thinking about selling everything and moving on. It is such a confusing and tough choice. But I bet I'll regret it in the future, so what do you guys think I should do. I know that there are many of you out there that have quit before and comeback or never come back.

NO Mew*, Dont Do that!!! Just Try ANOTHER way to APPROACH the Game, Rogue decking for Example, We Both have fun talking about NEW ideas/combos you know that, dude!!! The Game will change, NEXT set I hope, BUT dont let this get the BEST of you!!!

why does it have to be either/or?

take a break, if you feel you have to. that doesn't mean sell everything; hold on to what you have until you're more clear on what you want to do.

good luck.

Those who leave are always drawn back
Why? We do not know
Remember in your depart that new things will come
and abondoning the dull times will keep you from the brilliant suprises
The desicion is yours and only yours
do not let others influence you
but do what is best
Follow your path even if the road forks a new way
it is your life
do with it what you can to make yourself happy.

I don't think the OP ever actually stated it was an either/or. Mentioning selling everything and moving on was a seperate thought from simply quitting the game.

In any case, if you feel like quitting, then just quit. If you actually decide to sell everything, then let the test be if you can actually sell it or not. I think you'll find it's harder than you think to let go, if you still truly want to go on. Either way, two things remain constant: 1) The game itself will remain the same with or without you, and 2) this is likely to be the only post in the thread which tells you to even consider the option of permanently quitting at this point in time.

Very good advice, I appreciate it.

The another big problem with not having league is that I have to buy every card I need, since trading is out of the picture. It makes keeping up with the metagame an expensive hassle :frown:.

NOOOO!!!! PLEASE DON'T QUIT!!!
I used to play pokemon until 2003, then I quit. And I've regreted it since. I missed all of those cool Team Rocket/aqua/magma sets.
Anyways, do you have other things to do? Or maybe you could find new friends who like pokemon too.

So find a group that plays Unlimited. Problem solved. Though, IIRC, it's not really a tournament-sanctioned format in Pokémon, but that's not my problem.

Yeah you're right.

I'm just wondering, Why is Trading Out of the Picture?

Also just a side note. I don't have a League near me. I'd like to start one, or better yet, start one with other people helping. But i still buy the cards and keep up with most of the Game Play. I Collect, and just Play at Prerelease's when i can afford to go. My Stepson also Plays, so when we have a chance we play for fun. I enjoy Pokemon Everything, so when an Event comes around and i can afford to go i will. It's about 3-4 hrs to the nearest League, so usually i make a short Vacation out of it.

thats rather... whats the word...deep? idk..

I would wait until after nats, which means new set, and if you go to nats amazing amounts of fun

You see, tournaments just aren't any fun when pretty much all you do after a battle is sit around in the heat and wait for the next round. It was so much better when people from league would be at the tournaments, but I'm the only one still active! I don't have any family that plays Pokemon, so the only time I get to play is at tournaments, so spending all that money on cards is a waste considering that I don't have fun with them anymore and I don't have much use for them. I'm going to take a break from Pokemon. I'm skipping Regionals and probably all but a couple other tournaments and hoping that my league will start up again in the Summer. :frown:

But I'll still stay active on Pokegym since this is my favorite community.

A lot of my friends in my area do not play as much anymore, but I still play.
Probably for not much longer though.

Yeah you should take a break considering the circumstances. Do you use apprentice/Redshark? You can train and play online with one of those. IMO, you should atleast have a last hurrah at Regionals, but hey, just my opinion.

I don't have a league near me, but I have 3 bros. to play against, so that's different. But as Azure Kite said, There's on-line battling.

Yeah, I do a lot of online battling. Sure I make a lot of great online friends from it, but it's just not the same since I don't get to see those people at the tournaments. I'd be spending all this money on cards that I would probably only use in a couple events since I change decks so often. And those events wouldn't even be much fun. Games are supposed to be all about the fun in my opinion. I guess I'll just quit in real life unless my old league starts up again, but I'll keep playing online with my online friends.

By the way, in case anyone is wondering why my old league has been shut down since about the beginning of the school year was to make room for Christmas stock (the league is in a toy store's storage room). So while it was shut down for Christmas, my league leader said an employee threw his pants over the toaster and they caught on fire. Then he sprayed a fire extinguisher all over the place... now it is no longer safe because of the dust from the fire extinguisher. (feel free to laugh, it was pretty funny to hear the first time I heard the story) But now I find it sad since there is no more league :frown:.

Find a local library and put a temporary League in there until your League gets back running. Who knows? You might actually make the library league a permanent one!

Any kind of gaming store near you? Our league is at a comic store, and the owner lets us have it there because since he sells Pokemon cards, it gives him some business. Or atleast I think thats part of the reason.

I quit for some of the same reasons, along with the inability to get along with some people at my league. I had no intention of returning to the game, but now I cant becuase I got banned from pop:tongue:

IMHO play a different game. Pokemon has been going downhill for a long time and the rate at which it is getting worse seems to be getting worse itself.
