Got up early this morning, and picked up my buddy David to head to Toronto for reigonals. I was playing G&G, but spent all last night deciding on whats tech's I might throw in. Since provincials was all G&G I expected to see a quite a few Banette, so I decided on a 1-1 Weavile tech. After having a fighting with the meter in parking lot, I finally got in a registered my deck. David was playing Gardy/Typhlosion d/Claydol

There was:
51 Masters (6 Rounds, T16 cut)
44 Seniors (6 Rounds, T8 cut)
25 Juniors (5 Rounds, T8 cut)

Round 1
vs Jeremy (Torterra/Sceptile)
I took quite a few early prizes with a Garde. He came back and took 2 prizes with torterra LvX before I took my remaining prizes.
Me: 1-0
David: 0-1

Round 2
vs Andrij (G&G/Absol/Claydol)
I started with a Patchi, but with only 3 DRE's in my hand, and no supporters to get a basic energy. It took 3 turns before I could get a bench (By which point he had discarded all 3 of my DRE's with Absol). I let him take the 1st 3 prizes while I set myself up, and after I got set up he had nothing going for him and I took 6 of the next 7 prizes.
Me: 2-0
David: 1-1

Round 3
vs Zach L - Smacktack15 (G&G/Furret)
I started out really strong on him, and just plowed through his Gardy's and Gallades, We had each taken 4 prizes, but he only had 2 furrets left (all ralts in discard pile) and I had a charged gallade & gardyX, so he scooped.
Me: 3-0
David: 1-2

Round 4
vs Kant S - desert eagle (PLOX)
I got off to an amazing start against him, I took the 1st 3 prizes and then he only had one gardy active, and I had 2 gardeX's each with a DRE and a benched pachi, but i couldn't get the energy to use Psychic Lock FTW. From there he came back and took 6 of the next 7 prizes.
Me: 3-1
David: 1-3

Round 5
vs Mike (Skitty.dec)
He only had a skitty, and on T2 I played 2 pluspowers and hit the skitty with my Gallade for 380 (overkill...)
Me: 4-1
David: 2-3

*whew* Now I know I made top cut

Round 6
vs Robin M (Blissey/Weavile/Darkrai)
I just completely swept him with Gallade
Me: 5-1
David: 2-4:nonono:

1. Sebastian S. (Pokekid) 6-0 PLOX

14. Curtis L. (not on gym) 4-2 SallyKiss
15. Scott (not on gym) 4-2 Garchomp/Furret
16. Jeremy (not on gym) 4-2 Torterra/Sceptile

*note* The top 16 round and the top 8 round were best of 1(which is terrible, there is no time limit on the room, and no excuse for not have a best 2 of 3:nonono:), and T4, and the finals were best of 3

Top 16 Round

vs Scott (Garchomp/Furret)
He didn't get setup at all, I swept him before he took a prize
6-1

Top 8 Round
vs Zach L (G&G/Furret)
I got off to an alright start, taking the 1st prize, then Zach came back, and took 2 prizes on me. I then noticed a notible change in pace in Zach's game, each turn being extended by a minute or 2. I beckoned one of the judges over to take a look, and when the judge told him to hurry up, Zach started asking the judge about how his children were doing at the tournament....... Due to lack of time I made a couple misplays in rushing my turn, and lost just as time ran out in the round. (This may sound like and I'm a bit sour about it, and you're right I am. I wasn't the only one to notice Zach's slower play once he took a lead.)
Oh well, can't change it now
6-2

Congrats to Matt K. for winning, and to Kevin for Finishing 2nd (even if Kant gets the benifits of it )

Well Sean, I can always charge Kant the Prime Rate + a percent or two for that $1,000 USD scholarship until he works. Everyone knows that no decklist can worth $1,000 ... besides, I bought him dinner already (Sorry Garret, I am not as big of a chump as you think  )

Yeah, my son got put out of top 16 by only 2 points, going 4 and 2. Too bad really. It was a good event, that's for sure, with amazing play even though a lot of the field was Gardevoir and Gallade.

Kevin: no, I guess you're not as much of a chump (your words) as I kidded you for last night, but I don't think you're as good of a man either with that comment about Lia and her family either. Sorry.

A lot of people miss out of top cut from the seniors with a 4-2 record... too bad there wasn't a couple more people so that a top16 could've happened for them. Oh well.

Well, I lied (about the charging interest thing) ... but I believe that it is pointless for me to charge someone something that I essentially did not pay for. Though it is a pity that this year is practically over for the rest of us after Battle Roads since I know some are iffy about going to Nationals in Vancouver

It's a version of G&G that runs 3 garde's and 1 LvX and has more focus on using psy lock (P-Lock = PLOX)

oh, thanks :D but i dont see how is this different from other GG tho :p the only difference i can think of is the energy type line, and starting pokemon choice :)

The difference is strategy, it's focus is using psychic lock, to shut the other person down all game, and only use gallade if they really need to OHKO their opponents active

ah, it was still a good day though.

I should have played something else, but I'm glad that kev won, and a little disappointed that he used up all his luck till the very end. There is always next year for me.

although, I am glad "you-know-who"'s cheap underhanded tactics got foiled this time around, I feel that next time, we have to be more strict in these big tourneys.

Ummm, are you sure you don't mean Matt Koo won? Not sure about "you-know-who" and their underhanded tactics, but if I as a judge have a say, there would be little to none of that.

I think Coleman meant that I got second and that I used up all the luck up until then  Then again, my folks believed that I would not have gone so far in both events if I am actually cursed ... hope that I will be able to step up my game if I decided to go to Nats this year

oh, I don't mean that. It was "something else"

Not sure if anyone brought this to your attention...

It was just that during the process of the tournament, someone, and I don't feel like pointing fingers since a) it's too late and b) this isn't the place to do it. If you are interested Garet, I could tell you over e-mail to keep this in mind in the future tournaments, it wouldn't be such a big deal when it is something like a Battle Road or Cities, but when it is something big like this where there are thousands of dollars worth of scholarship is at stake, it has to be dealt with seriously.

If I were (and I did last year) got dealt seriously for my conduct in a tier 2 tournament, there is no reason why that person be dealt with seriously as well. However may this has nothing to do with me; this doesn't change the fact that it happened, and I firmly believe in a fair play environment and what happened on that day didn't exactly fulfilled that promise.

I didn't say that the Judges failed to enforce it, after all, there is so much going on, and tending to everything will be difficult. Anyways, I'm done for now. I can either talk to you or later on down, Kev or Greg will approach to someone like Marv about this.

Actually I'd like to hear from you what this is about. I always felt that I never got the whole story last year, but I had to act upon the facts available to me. Had I found out about "the whole truth," perhaps some other infractions may have occurred. However, if this is an ongoing thing, and it involves members of my league instigating problems, I need to know about it. I won't tolerate that type of behavior, and there will be repercusions. Even if there is nothing illegal in the conduct, manners plays a lot during matches for SOTG. Those who can't show SOTG should perhaps consider another game. As you can tell, I don't take rudeness very well. Please get back to me with what's been happening. I look forward to your reply.
