So i just came off another pokemon website that i will not name. But there was This LONG rant about how pokemon is dead. and how PUI has messed up the game, and ect I was like this guy is crazy then i started to wonder? Does anyone else feel this way? Sure attendence at evens is down this year, but i credit that to the limited schedual that events are now held two. Instead of two weekends/ four days of regionals we now have 1. instead of about a full month of states we now have 2 weeks. so of course thats to be expected. But what does everyone else Think?

I beleive your talking about Pokebeach, but he did say at the end that he was being sarcastic.

I think it's important to note, though, that WPM didn't create that sarcastic rant for no reason.
There ARE a good number of people who think Pokemon is dead, and think all of the things he sarcastically said he believed are true. And, of course, they have their reasons and evidence for their beliefs.

I worry that if pokemon doesn't hold another JAA/Pokemon rocks america, we will never get new people interested in the game, and some of the current ones are leaving all the time, due to recent events (the format, worlds invites, player support, ect...).

I mean those JAA's more than doubled our league attendance here in Memphis. If they held more of those, Pokemon might start to reach it's fad peak again.

So yeah, slowly it's dying, but it's really slow... like in about 2-3 years, right before generation 5 is released, is when we will see low attendances again.

Uh, folks, attendance at Reg's was up 25 % from last year. The game is not dying, it is growing!

Not only that... but i mean The video game has little to NO support if i'm correct DP is the highest selling Handheld games ever! So there are Millions of people with the game who spent god knows how long playing and training their pokemon. I'm sure that a JAA even would be HUGE. I mean for the GAmestop Touneys every store that i heard about had more than the allotted number of people!

Thats the main reason I stopped playing the video game. There are more people that have the video game then people that play the pokemon TCG with tons of support. How is that possible? Heck i'd bet theirs more people who play pokemon then halo and madden and both of those games are organized and sponsered beautifully. Back when gold/silver was out imo pokemon was at its prime. I used to play at a place called GameFreak and they held pokemon GBA Color tournaments every week. After that place went under I just gave up playing because no one else did anything else like that, tournament wise. It was a basicially play with your friends type of thing. Its almost the same thing now but like its online which is still basicially between you and your circle of friends. Ik pokemon did journey across america, GBA national championships. They organized everything so sloppy imo. How do you make your qualifiers through a question survey online rather then a battle with other players? They didnt really advertise it alot. Some of those gamestop tourneys they did for the battle revolution had more people then TCG events. I think if they did some sort of organized play for the video games it would blow up more then it already has. No disrespect to pokemon but why would you rather work on a TFG when you have an amazing video game genre right in front of you? :nonono:

Tournament attendance going down!?!?!?! I don't know where you go to, but tourneys I've been to have had almost doubled attendance in the last 2 years!

From Dictionary.com:

American Heritage Dictionary
sar·casm (sär'kāz'əm) Pronunciation Key
n.
A cutting, often ironic remark intended to wound.
A form of wit that is marked by the use of sarcastic language and is intended to make its victim the butt of contempt or ridicule.

Yes, to ridicule those who often claim that Pokemon is dead or only for children. Pokemon is anything but dead (as shown by the ridiculous amount of people at Regionals), and anything but just for children (as shown by all the adults). I used their arguments with contradicting pictures.

Get it? :p

Yeah, just saying "Here are the photos I took on Saturday" is kind of boring. I was so impressed with the amount of people that I had to show off the game's popularity.

The only thing I wasn't sarcastic about was the "forget to put out your prizes and lose" blurb. :p

I definitely don't think this game is dying. League attendance is going up at where I am at . On another forums that I go on, I have seen comments like what you saw. People saying Pokemon is dumb or it's dead. Eh shows what little they know

Pokemon has come to a cross roads. Suck and die, or epic win... It's fate is in your hands.

I'm amused thoroughly by those who have yet grasped the concept of sarcasm. It's tough I know, but we'll be there to hold your hands on the way.

Kind of hard to miss when the pictures are right in front of you. Especially when I flat out say there is no one at any of the tables, no one is smiling, and that the adults are kids; the pictures are completely opposite. Really hard to miss, actually...

I guess you could call it satire against people who "absolutely" bash Pokemon or PUSA. I'm not even sure anymore what it is. XD It was just an attempt to display the photos I took on Saturday in a creative way. I just wanted to point out how the game has grown. If people take what I said literally and applied it to problems they believe exist, then I guess it's multifaceted to the reader.

... Although I am pretty sure no one who runs tournaments is evil and wants to make your kids' day bad. :p

I thought that people would get it right away from me saying "It [the PTCG] was extremely active toward the end of Wizards of the Coast's run." Pretty much everything I said was intended to be the exact opposite of what is true.

What I don't get is how a few 10-year olds on my forums understood the sarcasm/satire/whatever it is before I even posted that little message at the end of the story, yet people like PokePop, who are adults, didn't understand it even after that little blurb at the end of the story and me explaining it in this thread. XD
