Prerelease Cutbacks over the years.....

Okay, so, I started going to Pokemon Prereleases since Unseen Forces. Over the years, i noticed the prices and prizes going up and down. Here is what I have been noticing since UF at the PR's i go to.

UF-$20.00 adm. 6 Packs to play with, 4 for completing. Promo Card. Promo Pin.

DS-Same as UF.

LM-$20.00 adm. 6 packs to play with, 2 for completing, deck box. Promo Card. Promo Pin.

HP-Same as LM. Only PR I went to where 1st pace for each age division won booster box.

CG-Same as HP.

DF-$20.00 adm? 6 packs to play with, 2 for completing, deck box. Promo Card. Promo ZPin

PK-Same as DF (except for promo pin).

DP-$25.00 adm. 6 packs to play with, 2 for completing, 60 Deck Sleeves. Promo Card.

MT-Same as DP.

SW-Same as MT

GE-Same as SW.

MD-?


So, what will we see for the future? Do you like what is given at PR today or did you like the past?

You forgot about the pins that were given out for some of the sets. At least up to dragon frontiers.
 
As a PTO, I do not see any changes in the foreseeable future. Hopefully this will continue.

At my prereleases, immediately after the main event we still hold booster drafts...the past 4 prereleases have ended with at least 24 players drafting...lots of fun.:thumb: My players love it.
 
Yeah, but i used to love the 10 packs deal for 20 dollars =]
Now we have 8 packs and deck sleeves for 25 dollars =[
 
****, let's go all the way back to ex Dragon when we were actually playing for prizes. I mean, I'm not saying those days were better or worse, but why start at UF for this comparison?

Or how about when Wizards was running the game that we didnt really have Prereleases at all. :eek:

I'd love to go back a few years and pay $1.50/gallon of gas too! (And 2.50 for gallon milk, 89 cents for a dozen eggs......and on and on) Prices go up over time. You still get more for 25 bucks than buying them retail! Sleeves (60 count = $6-10 value) (50 count packs run 4-6 bucks); Packs 3.49 to 3.99/pack retail. 4 x 8 = 32 (taxes get ya!) You still get $42 or so worth of value, PLUS getting to play and trade pokemon cards for an afternoon of FUN!

Yeah....why do you keep going to these things? :confused:

I like drafting more than the actual PR. Usually we can get 6-8 friends in a group which just makes it more fun.

Because i started going to prereleases when UF came out, if you read that.
 
Bah, you people are way better off than we do in Canada (well, at least at my part of the country). PreReleases costs $35 CAD and our currency is supposed to be at par to your American dollar ... so in theory we are over-paying for our PRs by around 40% :rolleyes:

What do you get at your PR's? Is it the same as ares?
 
Myself, I prefer the sleeves to the deck boxes. I've got dozens of deck boxes just sitting around in my closet, but you can never have too many sleeves.

Side comment: I do prefer draft to sealed, though.

Jungle: No prerelease. PR card given out at small number of leagues
Fossil: No prerelease. PR card given out at larger number of leagues.
Team Rocket: No prerelease. PR card given out at TRUs and leagues
Gym 1: Prerelease event held at TRUs.
Gym 2: no more prereleases done.
Neo Genesis: no PR
Neo 2: No PR
Neo 3: no PR
Neo 4: No PR
LC, Expedition, Aquapolis, Skyridge: No PR, no PR, no PR, no PR
RS: No PR


Seems better to me now.

I think there was a RS Prerelease at PCNY.

$35 CAD?:eek: Over here in Edmonton/St.Albert it's about $25 CAD... Odd. :confused:
