OK, most likely due to me hardly getting any sleep, my memory was TERRIBLE, and I apologize for the incredible lameness of this report.
I got to the tournament at 9:30, got in line, and then spent the entire registration time giving cards to anyone who needed them and tracking down Laurel.

R1 vs Michael D. w/Plox
Start is Sableye, Ho-Oh vs Pachirisu GE, Ralts SW.
He gets a Gardevoir SW set up T3, I don't get set up, and can't power up Ho-Oh manually.
0-1

R2 vs Justin A. w/Blastoise/Dugtrio?
Start is Sableye, Ho-Oh vs Miltank, Squirtle.
He was pretty clearly a returning player, as he asked me what Rare Candy did, and then remarked that it was similar to Pokemon Breeder.
I get Ho-Oh and Togekiss set up T2, OHKO'd his Miltank, he did 80 damage to my Ho-Oh with Wartortle SW. I knock out the Wartortle with Rainbow Wing, and he knocks out my Ho-Oh with an SW Diglett. I flip heads on Phoenix Turn, and knock out the Diglett to win on prizes.
1-1

R3 vs Chris J. w/Plox
Start is Sableye, Togepi, Ho-Oh vs Ralts SW.
I attach to Sableye, use Rummage, he attaches and uses Smack.
I get everything I need except Rare Candy, attach to Ho-Oh, play Crystal Beach, and use Rummage to get... nothing. He uses Bebe's Search to get Gardevoir, uses Rare Candy, attaches but can't attack or use Telepass.
I attach to Ho-Oh again, and use Rummage to get Rare Candy and Night Maintenance. Chris attaches to Gardevoir and uses Psychic Lock to knock out my Sableye. I attach to Ho-Oh and use Rainbow Wing to do 80 damage. He levels up Gardevoir and uses Bring Down on my benched Togepi, I attach to Ho-Oh and knock out the Gardevoir. He sends up Furret, benches a Sentret, attaches to Sentret, and uses Keen Eye. I attach to Ho-Oh and knock out the Furret, he evolves the Sentret, benches a Ralts and Rare Candies it to Gallade, attaches to Furret, and uses Baton Pass, switching and moving both energies to Gallade. I bench Togepi, Rare Candy it, use Serene Grace to get three energies, and knock out the Gallade and Furret.
2-1

R4 vs Jason G. w/Lickilicky
Start is Sableye, Togepi, Ho-Oh vs Lickitung SW, ???.
He attacks, flips tails, I Rare Candy the Togepi, get five different energies, attach one to Sableye and five to Ho-Oh, retreat and KO the Lickitung and various other Pokemon I don't really remember.
3-1

R5 vs Joshua J. w/G&G
Start is Sableye, Ho-Oh vs Ralts DF, Duskull DP.
I get T2 Togekiss and KO his basics.
4-1

R6 vs Daniel C. w/Monarchy
Don't really remember this game at all, but I lost.
4-2

R7 vs Joshua F. w/G&G
I set up a Ho-Oh, KO his Gardevoir Lv. X, and some other stuff. Again, I don't remember this game very well.
5-2

T16 vs Michael D. w/Plox
I win 2-0, don't remember either game.

T8 vs Jonathan A w/Infernacatty
I won game 1, he won game 2, Game three I KO'd his Delcatty ex, he KO'd my Ho-Oh with an Infernape, I flipped heads on Phoenix Turn and KO'd his Infernape to win on prizes.

T4 vs Jordan H. w/Magmortar/Blaziken/Claydol
Got Togepi starts and couldn't flip heads on Find a Friend or get set up. Lost 0-2.

Props:
All present members of Team HAT making the top cut.
Me getting fourth.
Getting Darkrai Lv. X, 2 Pachirisu, and 2 Claydol in my GE box.
Free stuff.
Mike Liesik being there.
Finally getting my Gardevoir Lv. X back from Kevin.

Slops:
People not returning cards they borrowed from me.
Everyone calling my deck Skittles.
Incorrect rulings.
Tanner not coming.

That's why I take notes  .

Nice that you got to eventually defeat your R1 opponent in the event.

People not returning cards they borrowed from me.
Feel my pain

Everyone calling my deck Skittles.
*whistles*

Incorrect rulings.
I'd like to hear about these. Not so I can rub it in anyone's face, but because, especially after surviving VA SC, I've come to the belief a lot of rulings that players complain are incorrect are infact correct and it is just the player who is confused. It also provides me with a learning opportunity

Ditto Timothy's request, especially since I judged your age group!!! Honestly, I don't even recall any rulings questions that occurred during your matches. If you'd rather discuss this via private message, that's cool!! :thumb:

Sorry, Lucario, but Skittles is a great name for this deck. In fact, I'll go so far as to say that it may take the prize for most creative deck name all year. Dump a pack of "real" Skittles into your hand and you see EXACTLY what this deck is all about. Show me a more creative name anywhere and I'll change my mind, but until then Ho-oh/Togekiss = Skittles.

Lucario_EX, your T8 opponent would be Jonathan A.

I told Javier to give a pack of skittles to all the opponents who he beat in the tournament  .

Give the opponent the regular kind if he/she wins; give the opponent the sour kind if he/she loses *heh heh*

Props to you for bring that stuff to give away ( even if Kevin couldnt get the names straight)

Thanks DrMario.

Whenever I try to write a report everyone decides it's a good time to trade with me.:frown:

Yeah.

I resent that.

GJ.

What do you call it?

As I think you know, I had a lacrosse game. I would have been at league, but not only did I have a lacrosse game, I had two lacrosse games. I should be at league on the 26th.

Thanks. I'm still not sure how we suddenly stopped arguing constantly about who was a better player, though.

Togi-oh.

Yeah, I know. I won't be at league on the 26th though.:frown:

IMO as it's MadHatter's name for a similar deck, it implies that I netdecked or something. It's at least as reasonable as G&G and Plox being considered different decks. Read Deck Help and Strategy, Skittles uses Claydol and more techs, uses a completely different trainer line, and has different starters.

Based on your comment, I was under the impression that your "slops" was a collection of rulings that other players told you and you had not witnessed yourself, instead of just what you experienced. I could tell you about a number of people who complained about rulings I made but they weren't anywhere near the tables and none of those people had any grounds to complain other than sour grapes.

For me, the definition of archetype is a theme that uses similar pokemon, although the dominant pokemon is typically the same in all versions. Like you said, GG and Plox being considered different decks, from what I've heard, isn't true. Although it is said that GG focuses on Gallade with Gardevoir support while Plox focuses on Gardevoir to abuse -Power denial, the two are nearly indistinguishable (I haven't been told otherwise). I've seen GGs that used Gardevoir a lot long before "Plox" was named. It'd be like renaming Raindance when it added Suicune; Haymaker when it added Magmar and if it drops Hitmonchan; or Riptide when it added Parasect. It's more like people want to say "oh yeah, we got to name a deck." To be fair, Ludicargo changed to 4 Corners and then there are the various Truk forms, but they have different themes from each other.

For Skittles, the theme is more or less "load Ho-Oh with all types of energy." Any decks that accomplish this theme are "Skittles." Skittles will be Skittles without Togekiss, and it doesn't need Claydol to be called Skittles. Techs don't make any difference on the name, they don't represent the deck as a whole but only regional differences in metagame. It's simply that two people are playing Skittles in different ways. Another example is the Babyporter. If I remember what I heard correctly, its name comes from the attack Teleport Blast (Dark Alakazam) and that it switches for babies. When it was played using Donphan with Rapid Spin, it was still Babyporter.

Plox and Gallade are very different, and have a compleatly different strategy. Skittles is Skittles no matter how you look at it. You power up a Ho-oh and attack, end of story.

Describe it to me. Taking Gardevoir and using it as the primary attacker over gallade does not make it a different deck. That's just taking the same deck and playing it in a different way. If the deck list is pretty much the same (Gardevoir+Gallade with supporting pokemon and trainers), I'll just stick to calling both decks "dirty"

Gardevoir and Gallade are COMPLETLY different attackers. In a typical G&G it runs 3 Gallade, no Claydol and 2-1 Gardevoir. The strategy is to go agro with Gallade and ohko anything your opponent can put out.
Plox runs 3 -1 Gardevoir 1/1 Claydol 3/4 Wager and 2 Gallade, and to be truthful the Gallade is more of a tech than anything in Plox. The strategy with Plox is to get a quick set up with Gardevoir and Claydol, wager your opponent and lock them so they can recover. Plox also realys much more on the Gardevoir lv.x, techs and thinking ahead several turns.

They ARE different, and there is NO WAY that you can say Ho-oh Togikiss is not Skittles.

Darthpika, like you said for Skittles, "Skittles is Skittles no matter how you look at it. You power up a Ho-oh and attack, end of story.", the same applies to GG. It is GG no matter whether or not you've got a Claydol and three Wager, in the same way Skittles is Skittles whether or not you've got the Togekiss. And you don't need to change around your evolution line numbers to change the style of play.

Tech-ing out a deck does not change its name. A tech-ed out Ludicargo is still Ludicargo. Unless you've also got a Water Pokemon in Plox to bring it up to be called a "4 Courners" style deck, it's still GG.

Thinking ahead several turns entitles the deck to be called a different name? weak.

While plox is different in genotype and phenotype, it is the same organism as GG. (sorry to go all biology on you, I suddenly remember stuff from Invertebrate Paleo. ). This really just sounds like people looking for a cooler name to call their decks other than "GG" (again, I nominate "dirty (and broken)").

Apparently at some regionals, multiple telepasses were being used per turn. I'd add "broken" to Timothy's comment in this case!

Ugg, your hopeless. :tongue::tongue::rolleyes:

Gardevoir is a COMPLEATLY different attacker than Gallade and there for the deck is different enough to merit a different name. In Plox you don't even really attack with Gallade.

^ Completely

and Plox is just a different build of GG, it isnt a completely different deck. it Still runs the Garde-llade line as its main attacker, it just tends to focus more on gardy than gally.

DarthPika, it's your logic that I'm applying to your opinion. You can't say "Skittles is Skittles no matter how you look at it." and not apply that to other decks. Skittles is Skittles with or without Claydol? Then GG is GG with or without Claydol. Claydol and some techs in GG does not make it Plox. GG has the cards to play the same strategy as Plox, and vice versa. Disagree with that, then what Helen played is not Skittles.

Like SuicidalPikachu said, Plox is GG but built differently. It sounds more like Plox is describing a different playstyle than a unique deck.

Thanks SuicidalPikachu.

Shadowcard is pretty much right here. DarthPika, quit being irrational. If adding Claydol and TGW to G&G make it a different deck, taking Claydol and supporters out of Skittles makes it a different deck too. Both seem like variants to me, though.

Ok, fine Claydol and TGW don't make it a different deck by its self but are a HUGE part of what Plox is. In Skittles you ONLY have 1 option which is to power up and attack with Ho-oh. Different trainers and using Claydoll or not doesn't change the deck as Claydoll isn't a huge part of the strategy, but more of a hand refresher pokemon. In Plox the Claydol is a must for the deck to work, and MUCH MORE than a hand refresher, and thats why I said it makes Plox different form G&G.
