Now, I'm sure this question has been asked several times, I know i have seen a thread like this one a couple times. But I do not think I have ever seen the question acctually answered.
So, what I would like to know, is why do we not have the same format as Japan?
I ask this because i was reminicising in the Achetype section of the Deck Help and Stategy fourm and I reread a lot of the articles posted there and thought "Wow, I can imagine how much fun I would be having if i could still use cards like "Giant Stump", "ATM Rock", "Metagross δ", "Crussed Stone", "Magcargo", "Pidgeot", among many others.
We have a much smaller format than Japan. While they can still use cards from packs as old as Firered Leafgreen, we are stuck with just Holon Phantoms and up.
They have a heafty 16 or so sets to choose from and we only have a mere 8.
They double us in Card Pool size, not to mention some of their newer packs have had more cards in them than ours.
I dont think there is a single person who posts here that wouldnt like to have the same format as Japan does.
They have so many more card options and deck choices open to them than we do.
They could still play things like LudiCargo or Flariados if they wanted to, and personaly I would LOVE to have those same options.
Personaly, I never thought I would miss playing against LBS or Mew EX.
I do know that it isnt up to Dav, Pete, or Mike, or anyone else who runs our company here in America.
I do not, however, know who is in charge of that choice.
Is it Japan? If so, why would they want us to have such a diferent format from them?
That honestly wouldnt make a lot of sense to me, especaily considering how they have to reduce their card pool to ours at Worlds, so its more of a hanicap, if you will, towards them.
Pokepop, SDPokemon, or Bulbasnore, you all seem to know quite a lot of who is in charge of what, so would you mind my asking of who is in charge of this and why they made that choice?
I do feel as though since our format changed to the state its currently in it has become much less fun. Back when I was able to use last formats cards I looked forward to playing in any Tournaments, even Battle Roads.
But now with this formats small card pool I wasnt even looking forward to Regionals, even right before the Tounrament. I really couldnt have cared less of how I did at regionals, whether it be 0-6 or 10-0.
At this point I dont even care how I would do in tournaments, I just want our old FUN format back.
Is there any chance at all of ever being able to use my old cards agian in tournaments at all?
Is there anything we could do to change the mind of the higher up that decided to have us loose cards via pack rotations at the end of each year?
I would also like to note that I did not make this thread in any form of "Sour Grape".
I dont usually have a problem with the constant G&G or Magmortar decks at tournaments, (unless its Ian, haha).
And I didnt make this thread to bash any of the Pokemon Officials. I know that many people, including myself, are guilty of bashing the people incharge (to an extent) of how we are allowed to play the game, but I think I've come to realize that the reason I feel so content tworads those incharge is because I (and I'm sure many others) feel like I have been robbed of the amount of fun i could be having playing my favorite card game of all time.
This also wasnt made because I did bad at tournaments or anything like that (quite the contrary) and am upset that I couldnt use my beloved old format.
I made this thread because I am genuenly curious as to why Japan has such a more diverse format than us, thusly leading to having much more fun than us.
Now, if anything sounded sarcastic in this post please disregard that, as I mean everything I have written in the way it has been intended.
Isnt there anything that can be done?
Oh, and if this isnt the right place for this, my appologies. Please feel free to move it if so.
Thanks for reading!
