WIFI on the Wii a mistake?

I started thinking about how it seems that alot of people don't have WIFI so in order to use there Wii that must buy a WIFI router or a Nintendo WIFI device. It seems to me that games would run faster using a eathernet cord and a router since its a direct link it should be faster. Am I right?
Discus please.
 
I'd rather have built in Wi-Fi than wires running all over the place, because I'd probably be to cheap to purchase a wi-fi kit for it if they developed one.

And anyway, I know that there are Wii LAN adapters out there. You can get them on eBay for about $17 new (third party I suppose)
 
I dunno, at times I would love to have a direct cable or whatever plugged into the Wii instead of relying on their wifi, which can suck.

No, you aren't. With today's internet speeds (unless you've got some seriously uber internet) and even though ethernet is much faster, you shouldn't notice a difference between it and your modern wireless router as they should both outclass your internet speed by a fair margin.

As for a buisiness decision, Nintendo has always been about peripheral devices, so it fits. At any rate, as mentioned, the number of people with wireless routers probably outnumbers the number of people with LAN ports near their main TV. It's not like wireless routers are really expensive these days.
 
Well fact is I live out where dial-up is the only internet connection.
I have to leach off of my friends sorta high-speed internet to update whiel I am spending the night at his house and he is asleep...(Which is not till 2 or 3 am)

How is this relevant at all to the discussion? Dial-up and Wireless are not mutually exclusive.

Right now it sounds like your argument is "hai gaiz, I think Nintendo made a mistake with Wi-Fi becuz I live in the middle of absolutely nowhere!" and that's not a valid arguement.
 
No, I am jsut saying that me and alot of other people have found this it seems that using WIFI for games seems to lag and cut off alot more than using a cord would like the 360.
I just wanted to discuse my opinion on the WIFI.
That was till I found out that there is a Eather net adapter for it.

Well you might as well live out in the middle of nowhere with how rude you are!!

I happen to live out of High Speed's reach too, and I live about, Oh i don't know, 5 minutes give or take, from a town with Comcast. So just because DSL doesn't reach your house, doesn't mean you live in the middle of nowhere!!



But back to the topic, Chris is right about that the number of people with a Wireless Router outweigh the number of people with a Lan port near their TV. So it's not really a mistake by Nintendo.

But don't you remember you got the Nintendo Wi-Fi adapter to work on your dial up??? And you told me about it too!

Using a Eathernet port I would be able to do system updates and downloads for my WII.
Straining dial-up to WIFI basically kills the adapter and you get little data form it.
It not only my prob, but form most of my friends that own a WII hate the fact that they have to cough up about 40-100 for a router or adapter.

But you don't have High Speed, so how would you use it??? And if you gotta pay 40-100 bucks for one, why would you not go as cheap as you could??

Yes they would...but i don't have my computer near my wii. My wii is on the 1st floor, computer, 3rd! so wi-fi may stink but for a good cause!
