Guitar Hero 3 for PS2??

Is the GH3 for the PS2 much different from the WII? I am thinking about entering a tournament, and I have it for the WII, and they are using the PS2. So is it harder to play? Is the timing off a little? Anything I need to know?

I don't know how to launch the star power with it either, the start button right?? I am too used to pulling up on the guitar from the WII !

So any tips are welcomed!! I just don't want to go and waste $5 AND miss league...

Thanks,

I've never used the PS2 one, but I seriously doubt your theory on the whole Star Power part. For example, on GH2 for 360, it came with a wired guitar that when you move up, it acitvates Star Power just like the Wii version. Now GH3 for PS2 comes with a wired guitar from what I've seen on the box.... so it should be the same way. You do realize that the Wii version is the only version where you put the controller into the guitar?

I have GH3 for a PS@ and for the 360 (my fiancee bought the 360 version after we had the PS2 version since we never had a 360 until after we got the PS2 version).

ALL of the guitar controllers work exactly the same across all platforms. If you want to go into Star Power, either tilt the guitar neck upwards or press the "Back" button, NOT the "Start" button. The "start" button pauses the game.

There are different package combos for GH3 for different consoles. For example, there are 3 different versions for the PS2 and 2 versions for the 360. The PS2 version of GH3 can be packaged with 1 Wireless Kramer guitar controller, or 1 Wired SG controller, or 1 SG Wireless controller, or 2 Wired SG controllers (costs a little more). The 360 can come with 1 Les Paul Wireless controller or 1 Xplorer Wired controller. Just pay attention to what the box says is included.

GH3 with 2 SG Wired controllers
GH3 with 1 SG Wireless controller
GH3 with 1 Kramer Wireless controller

Also, you can go to www.redoctane.com and visit their online store for even more bundled combos.

Yes, there are still Hammer-Ons and Pull-Offs. Remember 1 thing, GH3 is exactly the same across all platforms with the content that comes on the CD. After that, DLC is what makes it defferent across different platforms. Wii (as far as I know) and PS2 have no DLC, while PS3 and Xbox 360 have DLC. The grafics are also in HD on the PS3 and Xbox 360, but if you don't play on an HD TV, it doesn't really matter. Some of the cheat codes are different, but basically, some of the cheats were left out of the PS2 version. Also, on the PS2 version, the loading screen and the text with the name of the song and band right before the music starts is different than the other platforms. Lastly, some of the PS2 songs are cover songs played by other bands, while on the 360, at least, is played by the real band. For example, Talk Dirty To Me is not the original on the PS2 version, I don't think.

However, for the most part, the core software of the game, like game play, is exactly the same.

Man, I wish I wasn't traveling to NJ this weekend or I would make a trip to TN to play in that tourney. We are having a Rock Band 3-person band tourney I am organizing at my local card shop in Lawrenceville, Georgia sometime in June and there will be single guitar matches as well going on. We are also planning on some point this year of having GH tournaments. It should be a fun summer at our local card shop.

Thanks! Although there is rumor on the Guitar Hero website that a future Wii Ware update might include DLC for the WII version. I sure hope so!!

Wow that sucks about the cover bands:nonono: "Talk Dirty to Me" is one of my favorite songs on there!

And you can come to another Guitar Hero tournament. My local game store hold them every now and then. They rotate SSBB, Call of Duty 4, Halo 3 Dark Sector, GH3, and do special request tournaments. So they do one when it rolls back around, which right now, the next GH3 tourny isn't until JUNE!! So, you might be able to make it if you want to travel all that way! :thumb:

just out of curiosity, whats the hardest song on the hardest level that you can beat?
Expert-One. But I still stand a chance, the store actually took a picture of the last winner, and they caught his score on TTFAF!! I beat his score no problem. Oh, it's a pro Face off style tournament so I don't have to worry about the rock meter! From the score I seen in his picture, if that's his best, I should own this! But maybe he practiced!?!? We'll find out in June!!

so in pro face off, you try to get the highest score not caring about failing from the rock meter? sick! i never knew that. hardest i can beat is bulls on parade xpert.i can get 5 stars on it

Bingo! Highest score wins, and I got this dude out-kicked by 10k. I should winz!! First Place gets a $25 gift card. But the tourny's not until June, a whole month. Can't wait!!
