Look at the text on the bottom of the card.

There it states:
It is said to be world's weakest Pokémon, No one knows why it has managed to survive.

I'm a bit confused. Shouldn't it read like:
No one knows how it has managed to survive.

I'm not good at English so it could be that I'm wrong.

Anyone any ideas?

Lol... WHY would a magikarp even want to manage to survive? :p Yeah... nintendo made a mistake. Either they ment "how it managed to survive" or "why it tried to survive"

This is not an error just for Magikarp MT, it's an error for the D&P Magikarp. You know what this means.......RARE MAGIKARP MT ERROR CARDS!

they're too common to be rare or valuable... a nearby store sells like 20 for 25 cents each, and even that's a ripoff...

While "how" might be a more appropriate word choice, "why" is also acceptable imo. Seriously, why has Magikarp managed to survive?

Don't most Magikarp not survive?
Taking Evolution into account, you kinda realize that Magikarp survive in the same way as Tadpoles--They either get lucky and evolve, or are eaten (...Didn't Meowth try that once and break his teeth? <_<). More Magikarp happen to pop up whenever Gyarados breed. Tada.
...thinking even more about it... Magikarp seem to have almost metallic strength scales in the Anime. DANG. Why can't my Magikarp have Steel good defence, as opposed to being able to flop six feet high in occasion? ;_;
[del]What I don't get about Magikarp, is how they get EVERYWHERE. EVERY BODY OF WATER has Magikarp. What the heck...? Do Gyarados breed in the clouds and watch their eggs drop down whenever it rains or something? At least Feebas/Milotic makes sense, with the Feebas only able to escape predators in certain places and thus being hard to find... But Magikarp? <_<[/del]

I guess Magikarp is like a seed and Gyarados is like a tree. The tree makes a whole bunch of seeds that go all over the place, even places where it really doesn't make sense for them to be. Since there are so many, it doesn't matter; only a few of them need to actually mature (into Gyaratrees) for it to be a worthwhile venture.
