Call Energy ... not an attack....

Has anyone looked at Call Energy over on the Beach?

Call Energy
Call Energy provides * Energy. Once during your turn, if the Pokemon Call Energy is attached to is your Active Pokemon, you may search your deck for up to 2 Basic Pokemon and put them onto your Bench. If you do, shuffle your deck and your turn ends.

It’s not an attack. You never enter the attack phase ... you just get an effect and your turn ends.

That’s interesting to me. The most obvious combo would be with Holon Circle. You get to use Call Energy to start filling your bench without having to worry as much about T2 deck counter KOing whatever basic you have active early game.

Any other potential things that could be done since this isn’t an attack?

Edit: As noted in post #16

Another side effect of not being an attack is that effects like Disable and Smoke that stop attacks will not prevent you from using Call Energy to fill your bench. Sableye takes a small hit with this and T1 Skitty starts get even worse.

Wow, nice idea, it could raise havoc if played right. Too bad, Holon Circle won't be legal next season and everything else like it also ends your turn...

hah, i agree entirely. call energy isnt as good as people say. ill test it, but ill prolly get better results w/o it.

...That's totally NOT what I am saying. Call Energy is the best card in the set. Holon Circle is what I'm commenting is bad. Sorry about the mixup there.

That you just use Call Energy and not waste space in your deck that is nearly useless after turn 3, aka, don't use Holon Circle.

Not reallu. If you start with a lone Phione and a Call Energy, you aren't going to complain if you go second.

Unless you have Roseanne's or Mentor in your hand. Then Call Energy probably won't be used.

Obviously. And if you play 4 Call 2-3 Roseanne, odds are you will have basics t1-2.

yeah, id rather go second and rosseanne's and phione on your first turn.

So would I. I personally use both, which makes my decks alot more consistant. I never said you would use this over Roseanne.

Call is completely superior to Pachi... Holon Circle might come in handy once in a while, but I wouldn't use it in a deck that couldn't benefit from it anyways. (Blastoise SW... but who would use that?)

Is this for real? Why did it take so long for people to notice this?
I'm dissapointed in all of you for not pointing this out to me sooner :p

lol this is GOOOOOOD!

something who needs setup like hurricane relies on pachi. with this card you've just kicked pachi for 4 awesome energies!

definitely underrated.

The trouble with Call energy is that the probability of having it in your opening hand isn't great. Its not bad (approx 40%), but not great. So a good card for decks that aren't too fussy about their energy colour.
