Do a Battle Road! The Lusby Spring Battle Road is just around the corner!

The staff at Aardvark Gym will be organizing a Battle Road tournament.

  • Location:
    Aardvark’s Videos, Comics, and Games
    300 Clubhouse Drive
    Lusby, MD 20657

  • Time: June 1, 2008
    Registration @ 11:00am
    Round One @ 12:00pm
Late players will be given losses for the rounds they missed- no exceptions. Through our TO experience, Aardvark Gym staff has become increasingly efficient in setting up and organizing tournaments. Expect us to start on time. Show up, even if you will be late- remember, Premier events are free; you have nothing to lose! Late entry does not affect your Premier Rating.

  • Contacts:
    Judges- ninetales1234 (HJ)
    titan-girl (PTO)

  • Format: Modified-Constructed
There will be deck checks. Make sure your deck is Modified-legal the first time.
Click here to see what sets you may use for your deck.

If you don't have enough Modified-Legal cards, remember, this is a retail venue: buy some! If you are having trouble, please talk with tournament staff. They will be make sure you're good to go.

  • Tournament Style: Age Modified Swiss

  • Admission: Free!

  • Prizes:
-Standard prizes of course. aardvarkvcg, titan-girl, and I have a tendency to take things to the next level- we will most likely augment the prizes.
-Door prizes. That means you don't necessarily have to do well; you could get prizes just for being there.
-This is a Premier Event so you will be playing for a Premier Rating.

  • Make sure you come with:
-Something to write with (to record your wins/losses)
-Damage counters and coins (or dice) for coin-flipping (we sell Skittles!).
-A smile on your face, as I will be bringing my camera.
    -[del]Anti-Gardellade deck[/del]

  • Additional Info: Don’t forget to be there on time and don’t forget your POP ID#. If you haven’t become a POP member yet, come early so we can sign you up and give you a POP ID#. Membership is free. If you have any questions about this tournament, post in this thread or PM me.

To far away for just Battle Roads. Ninetales, are you by any chance going to any
Virginia Battle Roads(To play not judge.) RAIEGGS WILL NEVER DIE.

We should be there. Does MD really only get two battle roads?
:frown:

I been thinkin about it. depends on how far they are, I better look 'em up. I don't think any are as close to Lusby as States was though.
Why aren't the burrito pics. up yet? And is first prize still victory medal?
I told you they only have me in them. No need to put them up. Maybe I'll find some use for them. yep prizes are the same as far as I can tell.

Yes there is a need. And there might be other people in the background. And why not have pictures of someone who worked "hard" to help the tournament run "smoothly"?

Actually, if they came with the prizes, I could frame them and hang them on my wall of pokemon stuff.
I'll tell ya what. If attendance exceeds 52, I will post the burrito pics on somdpokemon.com.
Tell your friends about this wonderful Pokemon event, spread the word to help us get big numbers. Then, watch Nicholas Kirkpatrick eat a burrito.

Please keep in mind that the event starts at 11am not noon! We don't want anyone showing up at 12pm right when we put up round one pairings.

me but wait.... i dont think i can go because my friend invited me for his birthday party. happy andd sad.

I'd like to request a ruling here...

If I decide to use skittles as damage counters, and in the middle of the game I get hungry and I decide that I want to eat some skittles, can I count this as removing damage from my pokemon?

More importantly, if I am able to eat the damage counters I remove from my pokemon, can I do this even if they aren't edible?

I just thought that this issue was important and should probably be addressed. If you don't feel comfortable making the ruling, I can just post it in ask the masters.

Juniors- 6
1st- Dylan A (Gardellade)
2nd- Jim M (Infernacatty + Typhlosion)

Seniors- 9
1st- Jacob L (Gardellade)
2nd- LJ W (Grumpig/Mismagius)

Masters- 22
1st- Mike M (Empoleon/Palkia)
2nd- Peter M (BanBliss)
3rd- Michael M (Beedril)
4th- Ariel L (Garchomp)

Props
-Aardvark Gym did not get invaded this time.
-I would like to point out that we have picked up the dying fallacy of "curse of the first" and rubbed its face in the ground. Dylan, Jacob, and Mike were all undefeated, the whole way through.
-Our fastest SE match ever. 2nd seed v. 3rd seed in the Masters ended in less than 6 minutes. Michael M said his Beedril deck was 0-12 against his brother's deck and scooped so he could play in our side event.
-Our side event, for those who didn't make it to SE. 14 players.
-Philip's pride in being a puppet
-Jacob is now #36 Seniors player in the World.

Slops
-Realy tough ruling decision I had to make in round 5.
-That one player that would not lay out his energy cards so that his oppenents (and the judges) could see them, and continued doing so until I explicitly threatened to penalize him for it.
-Chris V, who would have been 2nd seed in the Masters, had to drop out before SE (I think he had to go to work). First time someone ha dropped before SE at one of our events.
