Maybe a dumb question, the reason I ask is because I just saw the decks and boosters at the Target Great Land in Gurnee. (Illinois)

Just wondering if they broke the street date or something.

street date is May 21. mass market stores such as walmart and target are often stocked by outside vendors, not the store itself...who for whatever reason(s) don't know and/or follow the release date.

Rumor has it that if the major stores sell before May 21, the FLGS (friendly local game stores) can too. If I see boosters at Wal-mart or Target, I'm running to my FLGS.

::runs up the street to see if there are packs::

If it is anything like where I work, the product is received by the store's receiver for check in, and then the outside vendor stocks it. If the product was checked in prematurely by the store's receiver, it then may have been passed to the outside vendor who is simply looking to get all the product that was passed to him/her onto the shelf (also known as getting all of his/her work done). If the product came with a note to not stock until a certain date, it is possible that this note was not seen or discarded by the store's receiver upon check in. The people in charge of making sure that the product's section is correctly set should know the start/end dates of the product. If the stockers have a lot of work to do and simply don't care about planogram start dates, the item could end up on the shelves early.

Or, you could kindly mention to the manager of the big chain store that they are breaking a release date, and should pull the product back. We've had many a Retailer/TO let us know that they've developed great relationships with their big chain stores, and that when they point these things out, the stores are happy to comply and pull the stock off shelves.

Wow, that's what I call a case of good luck. I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a few boosters this early in the game.

Booster packs cost too much in retail stores though. Me and my friends buy packs of the new set for $2 each when they come out.
And I went to 4 Target stores in the last few days (As I always do) and none of them had any MD. That's in California BTW.

Wow. If someone can sell you booster packs at $2 each and still make a profit, I'd like to know the name of his supplier. Even my local game store is having to sell packs at nearly $5 each because of the rising costs of booster boxes.

Yeah, they also sell the tins for $9 each. I wonder how they make a profit too. They have also been open for 5+ years so they must be making something.

I would just encourage all the people tempted to dash to wal-mart, or target, or any other "big box" please consider holding off and buying from your local store, which, if anything, is right at the price of the "big box" stores, or even under.

1. These are the stores we go to play at. If we don't support them, they will disappear, and we will be playing, where?

2. These are the stores that host leagues, tourneys, and other events we hold as valuable as players. Very few big box stores support league, some do, most don't.

So, if you go to a small store to play, buy from that store.

I likey the small stores. (At least those that are nice to the piglets)

I'm definitely into supporting our local league stores. Not saying I don't hit up a Target now and then, but our Local Store is great. By the way....they are very nice to our piglets.....and older players too! :thumb::wink:

It would be nice to have a local card shop that even carried Pokemon cards. The one in my area doesn't. So Target is the best brick and mortor option. $3.99 for a booster and $11.99 for precon is not too bad of a price.

Dose any1 know the release date of the MD theme decks. And also a site to see all the cards in any theme deck as i'm new i need alittle bit of guidence.

Theme Decks officially this Wed (though my wife found some at Target this past weekend).
