Diamond and Pearl brought us LvX Pokemon and the Compendium leveled up. Now it’s the PokeGym’s turn. Team Compendium is excited to announce the re-launch of the Gym, bringing us to a new level of Community involvement and paving the way for enhancements and great new features.

The Gym has always been a reflection of the Community, the sum total of all of its members. TC has always tried to remain true to the founding principle that our users should direct the look and feel of the PokeGym. That has resulted in the Gym being one of the premier Pokemon fan sites in the world. However, a site that does not change over time will not continue to meet the needs of its Community, and in order to meet the future needs of the Gym we will need your help.

WE HAVE A PLAN! As the old saying goes, “many hands make light work” and in order to position the Gym for enhanced features while still maintaining the look and feel of a PG moderated site, we need Community involvement. That will take the form of forum moderators and some other special assignments. Over the last few months TC and the senior staff of the Gym have been working to outline staff expectations and descriptions of some jobs were we could use your help.

A common question over the years has always been, “how can I get to be a moderator”. Our standard answer has always been “if you're asking you probably won’t get to”, but times change. Now we want to give you the opportunity to give back and help shape the PokeGym, but it won’t happen overnight. Remember, we’ve set up some standards that will be used to evaluate applicants. We also need to move forward in an organized way to give everyone the support they need to be successful, which means it may be a while before we can use everyone who wants to help.

Check out our new Community Rules, Staff Guidelines and Open Positions. If you meet the qualifications and are willing to faithfully give some of your time to help us level up the Gym, you can apply in the “Team Compendium's Hideout”; post a thread stating the position you're interested in and why you think you are qualified.

Hold it just a second there...

FYI, this thread is for discussing this announcement and where things are headed.

Please note the fine print:

No public discussion of specific persons or types of people for positions is allowed. Such discussions are special rule violations; please see the staff announcements. Nominations are strictly prohibited in PM or post. All applications are to come through the Team Compendium's Hideout forum.

I can't see any of the three links at the bottom of the rules no permission it says. Is this correct?

TC -

Thanks for this Leveling Up!

On the how to proceed portion, step one is to read several documents. When clicking on the document links, the following message appears -

"<PokeGym Member> you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation. "

Awesome! I think the 'gym is wonderful already but I'm sure this community can come up with some inventive ways to Level Up. Thanks for your continued effort and your willingness to try new things.

After seeing the initial response to our call for help I am inclined to agree with you. We've had over a dozen volunteers already in the first day. When we were putting this plan together we weren't sure what to expect. You never know for sure what kind of response you'll get when you try something new, but the PokeGym family is amazing! Thanks to you all. We'll get busy processing the applications later this week and new staff will hit the forums soon.

Well, I'm pretty new to the gym, I'm not sure what I could do to help. But I am experianced in Pokemon,
getting started into the world of POP and learning as much as I can, and am very familiar with HTML and
web-based tasks. Even though I am new, I'm glad to help anywhere I would be needed! :)

I agree with Heather, the Pokegym is already so great, but its nice to see the Pokegym "leveling up" now as well.

Note to all have applied... we couldn't meet to consider applications last week, hopefully this week.

Just remember, PokeGym Level X can use Poke - Powers / Bodies / Attacks from the previous level.

We have met and have reviewed applications.
We will be alerting members soon of the results, one way or the other.

If you haven't heard from us, that's not bad news.
Thanks to all that applied.

Applications, by the way, are closed for this round. For those who applied, thank you & please see PokePop's post above.

Applicants have been reviewed.
Tentative assignments have been made.
Announcements to follow in the next couple of days as we confirm everything.

Thanks for all your patience.
