Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Looking toward the future—Claydol.

It really depends how much you value Claydol as your draw source. If you're willing to play it despite hate because it's so consistent, play it.

You're focusing on the wrong hate cards either way. Omastar + Wager is a much bigger threat to decks running Claydol.

My earlier post mentioned a card that was amazing. Omastar and wager really isn't something to worry about. It's a one time thing, granted it can turn games around, I've seen quadruple KO's with omastar, but it's just how everyone felt about grachomp. "Oh that's amazing and I'm gonna play that", and it really never got big. It's extremly situational, and in the best of times it will just take up space on the bench after it's played.

Omastar is probably the only fossil evolution that will be common in the metagame. His power is devastating together with the new multi hitting empoleon. The last attack of Empoleon is scramble worthy too. Aerodactyl is pretty much meh, but Kabutops might have potential after all.

I love how people are saying "He is only playable in fossil decks!" like fossil decks are bad at this point.

^The point is not that Fossil decks are bad, it's just the fact that it's one deck. GG/Plox certainly won't waste space on it, Emp decks might possibly run it, but space is looking to be tight, Skittles can't run it, Eevee variants can't run it, Mag can't run it...the list goes on. And it isn't an issue unless there are 2 on the table early game, and what's one of the only decks that can get them out that early? Oh yeah, Fossils. Or some other undiscovered rogue that we haven't seen yet, which means very few people will be playing it.

Omastar/Wager is the bigger threat. GG/Plox has been looking for this kind of tech, and Emp and Fossils will take full advantage of it.

Aero won't be big, but if I sit down and am playing any deck that uses any kind of powers (Eevees, Gardy, Mag, Gatr, anything with Claydol) and my opponent has Aerodactly, I'm probably going to poop my pants.

Mostly anything will beat PLOX now...It lost a lot of power when MD came out. I've been saying this since the pre-release. Aero might be good until the rotation. Otherwise he's probably not worth playing. Omastar can be good, but honestly doesn't seem worth it. Kabutops decks can run pretty well on their own and using aero can do moderatly well against most decks, but fossils just don't have that pure power yet.

Plox and other various variants of the deck still have some steam left in them. Don’t expect these decks to be sitting on the bench at National’s because they won’t. Many people can’t put aside how dominate that deck was this season, and I am sure it will keep some players from disregarding their Plox decks.

*Looks at Latilock*
*Reads Stage One on Aerodactyl*
*Calculates odds of running Holon Fossil in non fossil deck*
*Checks DIABEETUS Monitor*
*Realizes that Latilock wrecks Aerodactyl's face*
...yeah. Not all that worries Personally.

I have seen some great Empeoleon decks run Holon Fossil. It works and help.

Have we really gotten to used to Claydol that regular draw supporters are a "replacement" for it? In my mind, it's still the other way around.

I saw a great deck made by Steve Silvestro that ran Old Rod wreck Yamato in the face. Does this mean we are going to see more of it?
