will GG run the table?

if i have learned anything through two BRs it's that GG is still boss and looks to be for months to come. yes empoleon is good, but A) a lot of it's success is coming at the expense of magmortar and B) there is nothing inherent about empoleon which gives it an advantage over GG (don't tell me it's holon wp energy either). i would rate it as the new second best deck going. so unless a very good ghost deck comes along (i mean, it has to be better than banette) that can give GG fits AND survive all the rogue matchups i think GG might be the dominant deck so long as it is format legal.

has this ever happened before, where a pokemon line was introduced and it dominated for its' whole legal existence? i have looked casually at the next japanese set and while things like kingdra look great, i can't say i saw anything which was going to become the new king of the hill.
 
Not in terms of attacking power, no.

FRLG Pidgeot dominated all other forms of searching back in the day, but there were multiple ways to slow it down.
 
GG will be common in Orlando, but it won't win. GG has now reached the state of total completion (Even though different variants exist all are based on the same concept, the techs don't offer that much difference in the end). This state is very dangerous, since this means that good players understand that taking down GG deck in a consistent way will be a victorious way in Orlando. Therefore much time is spent on anti-GG decks which probably will bring it down in the Worlds. I won the nationals in Sweden with GG, but I've also decided to bin it as a Worlds deck, since it won't make it there!

I think the new Empoleon along with Omsatar could be one possible anti-deck, but I see more potential in the Eeveelution decks and Cess.Crystal decks.
 
Ya i understand what the problem is. GG is suddenly, well not really suddenly but is, a great deck. But Breeder is right.

A ton of people out there, and maybe half off which wont be going to worlds, have built or trying to build something to destroy GG.

So what does that mean? Well that means that GG for the time being will do well, and unless and major change happens before some more tournaments, will crash and burn.

I like GG's Ideas and concepts, but all good things come to an end, and with new beasts coming from Md and Legends Awakening GG is going to have a harder time than ever before. -Gowk
 
Empoleon can completely destroy a Plox if set up quickly and run to where it gets set up. All you have to do is hit the bench for 30 everywhere and keep spreading/sniping until Empo #1 is gone. Then, send up #2 and Surf Together a million times FTW. Hydro Impact also loves sniping damaged Gallades. This is all possible, only if you get set up quick enough and the deck is consistant, though.
 
You do realize that all those ppl who have been trying to find a counter STILL haven't found one?? What makes you think that there will be one by worlds? BTW only bad Plox players lose to Emopleon.

Plox is still the BDIF and until someone shows me a counter that wins at least 60-80% of the time, I won't believe that such a counter exists.
 
Tell me when the BDIF won worlds? (crickets) Thats what I thought! Something other than PLOX or GG will win Worlds. You can just about book it!

I am positive a GG/Plox build like that will not win Worlds.
Something with Gallade/Gardevoir might, but it will not be centered around the card like other decks have been.
TBH I think that something with some kind of unrecognized mass disruption will Worlds/Nationals.
 
Nothing will be as dominant as Feraligatr from Neo Genesis, EVER. GG could win U.S. Nats or Worlds, it has a lot better of a chance than Metanite did or other things in the past. I'd probably compare it to Blaziken, as in it'll be there in the end, but it may not take 1st in the whole thing.
 
G&G is not as far ahead of other decks as it once was, but it is still the safe choice. Apart from Banette (a risky play in itself), it has no really bad match-ups. The other dominant deck in this format, Magmortar, has a lot of trouble with the new Empoleon, and Empoleon itself can struggle against Leafeon (which does get played because people love Evees).

Although decks like Empoleon, Magmortar, and Garchomp can give G&G a hard time, all of those matches are winnable with a bit of luck and skill. it's also been around long enough so that people who run it are confident about using it, and have teched it out to counter the threats they commonly face.

So, yeah, a good G&G, in the hands of an experienced player, is still an excellent choice and it will probably stay that way for a while.
 
i expect the best player to win worlds, not the best deck. was empoleon the bdif last year? when you look at the sheer volume of cities, states, regionals and battle roads victories (not to mention top 4 finishes) it is clearly GG and then there is every other deck.

Maybe.

I've had a few issues with it in testing. Especially if they have Espeon benched and they keep using Leaf Guard.
 
GG/Plox will dominate the rest of the format.
That much is obvious.

BUT there will be diversity.
Empoleon, Banette, Eeveelutions, and Fossils are all viable decks, but Plox is still the big deck of the format.
To my knowledge there is no pokemon that can completely lock down powers and has a great support pokemon line (both stage 1 and Gallade) and a power that helps it setup along with a Lv. X that can be a godsend at the right time.

Honestly GGs power is insane, and the fact that everybody and their mom is putting a huge emphasis on Claydol isn't helping. Gardevoir can pwn any deck that relies on Claydol.
A simple win with Wager and Psychic Lock can screw the opponent over for the rest of the game.

Are there things that beat GG?
Yeah, but they still struggle with other powerhouses like Empoleon.
Will there be a surprise deck that owns everything?
Probably, there's a good card pool so I wouldnt doubt it.

All in all, for the remainder of this format GG will be on top, BUT come next format Kingdra will be the new deck to beat.
 
I dont think that GG is the best deck anymore, but I think that Empoleon is at the same level with it and I still consider it the deck to beat. There are too many variables because of MD. I think that Empoleon has a favorable Matchup against GG. You have 130 HP pokemon and if you can get a fast spread going GG has serious problems. GG also loses a lot of speed late game. It makes the matchup extremely difficult. GG also can have serious issues against Garchomp. Garchomp can deal 110 for 3 to Gardy and Gallade, and the Lv. X can be used as the 20 damage diffference between Gardy Lv. X and Gallade.

gg can not only be teched to beat any deck that has a "favorable" matchup, but there are less and less gardy decks to the point that noone would really play a deck just to beat gardy
