If you havent looked yet there is a card in the next set to be released that has an attack called god blast. This struck me as odd especially since Christianity isn't the main religion in japan. Anyways im wondering if when translated the attack will keep its name. What do you think?

It won't. The Japanese culture is a shock to alot of others for their tolerance of things of that sort; like religious references in children's card games. :p

If it comes from Japan, it probably doesn't refer specifically to the Christian god. It could just be a different way of translating "Blast of the Gods," or something like that. Not necessarily the Christian one, just a general supreme being.
..That made much more sense in my head.

if the word used is 'kami', it's more a guardian spirit than the christian creator 'god'...

'umi no kami' anyone?

'mom

It'll be changed. LM Mew ex, when first translated, had Almighty instead of Versatile and good old Neo Discovery Poliwrath had attacks named Deep Stab and Hellwheel (or something similar, it's been a while) instead of Corkscrew Punch and Submission.

God Blast is too cool of a name to be accepted by lawsuit-happy parents.

Yep. They're probably going to re-name it Pixie Burst or Fairy Fury. Something like that.

I used God Blast all the time on a local tournament on Saturday, and it took me to second place. :D The card is Mesprit lv X. The name of the attack is written in "English" (Japanese English) on the card. It's not weird in Japan, but it could be weird outside Japan, so it will probably be changed. End of story. :p

With an attack like that, it deserves such a name:
[PP] God Blast: 200 damage. Discard all Energy cards attached to Mesprit. You can't use this attack if you don't have Azelf LV.X and Uxie LV.X in play.
I can't imagine the attack will happen often.

Hope Americans won't be too stupid to understand that.
PUI will probably just change the name of the attack. I challenge them not to.

DOG BLAST!

hows that for deadly
They should do that:lol:

DP5 Azelf's Power and Energy Switch disagree.

Besides, most attack names get changed at least a little when they come over to the U.S. Case in point, Leafeon Lv.X: Verdant Dance>Fresh Leaf Dance. SOOO MUCH BETTER!

Agreed with Cyrus. Name changes can be much better when it get translated. Sometimes its not... like umm.. PSYCHIC CUT? Psycho cut on japanese version sounds better for gallade... :)

OMGOMG But Psycho was a very scawy movee and it mite rezult in lawsoot aimed at PUI cuz Psycho iz baaad and evil and stuff!!

PG is the AntiCool.

It's spelled out in katakana to be pronounced "God Blast" when you read it. God Blast isn't one translation, but the intended name. It's just up to Nintendo if they want to keep that name or change it.

Probably it will just be Devine Blast, no people mumbeling about religions there, all in all it's a hard attack, just to bad for the lv x'es that they only have 90 hp. And you can see it comming from a long shot, all those active pokemon waiting to be x'ed :D

Cheers,

I can just imagion some grumpy old man in PUSA deciding on what to change the names to each time he finds something he doesn't like.
