Attention INTERNATIONAL players, please read (about ranking invites)

In about a week the ranking invites will be awarded.
If you are not going to use a possible invite, you might be willing to temporarely chance your status of your "my pokemon" account into NOIR (Not Opted Into Ranking).
That way your possible invite will trickle down and perhaps given to somebody who indeed is going to Orlando and can use it.

You can chance your status back after the invites are awarded.
I would suggest if you are ranked somewere in top 60 of any agegroup in any zone go into the NOIR status for about 1-2 weeks if you are not going to Orlando.

I would be nice if we show up with many many players.

Lia, are you positive that a NOIR ranked in the appropriate place will have their invite passed down to the next elgibile player in ratings? The reason I ask is because there is someone in the U.S. who got suspended or something and is at 1871 currently (going to be enough for an invite most likely).

May I clearly quote?

This particular option said, and I bolded for quick reference:

I do not want to participate in Player Rankings and therefore will not be eligible for special prizes, travel awards, and invitations.

If you opted for not getting an invite, you should not get one and it should pass down.
But I am not POP/PUI and they always can decide different.
It's worth a try.

Anyway suspended players are not showing up in rankings, I am pretty sure about that.

If a player is suspended that can't get an invite. Therefor it would actually trickle down. I like the idea you have Lia, but I am not sure most players will read this or if they do actually change there status. If I wasnt going to worlds I would do that so another player who deserved it also, could get it instead of me.

Or you could just let the invites go to the grinder like PUI intended for those who cannot attend....

The thing is, we're expecting a grinder full of US people. And we Europeans have nothing against US people specificially, but we'd much rather have a lot of Europeans at Worlds than even more Americans, so that's why we need to get as many invites that are actually going to get used ;)

What Anna said is a really good point.

It is really unfair for a WORLD-level tournament to be spammed by a very large percentage of the UNITED STATES players, like it was in 2006. A ridicious 50ish% of the entire Masters Division was United States players. Extremely unfair. Last year in Hawaii was the best Worlds-level tournament in terms of attendence, with only approx 25% of the Masters Division being United States.

Actually PUI don't intend unused invites to go into the grinder. it works like this: the first few unused invites evaporate. I'll have to find the thread where the number was worked out or just do the sum again . It is only if there are a lot of unused invites that they might be added to the grinder.

I'm sure that the request for players to go NOIR will occur in the USA too. If I was in 26th place for a ratings invite in NA then I'd like any of the 25 above me who can't go to take the NOIR option to bring me into one of the 25 allocated NA places.

No Jason, if you check I'm sure you will find that 128 is not the maximum. That is the intended maximum. Not the same thing at all.

There are 137 invites in each age group so with age ups and 100% takeup there could be what 139 players in a pod. The smallest invited pod might be 135? POP aren't going to roll a die and turn invited players away.

With a target of 128 seats the first 7 invites that go unused evaporate. The 8th and 9th may evaporate too!

The USA players are not being disadvantaged by EU players attempting to avoid their invites evaporating. Unless the USA players are afraid of the competition that is :D

I see nothing manipulative or fishy about this at all. Essentially, a player in the T25 who already knows they can't attend, opting out of ratings, allows the invite to be assigned to someone else, rather than 'lost' or possibly added to the grinder.

Essentially, I just see this as a player notifying us early (ie; prior to invites being assigned) that they won't be able to attend.

That's great news then.

Dave, I am wondering that is there is a "set date" that invitations will be given out so it can give people who are NOT attending some time to set their accounts to NOIR so you would get a strong list of ranking invitations mainly containing people who's DEFINATELY going.

cheers
jason.

I don't think the invites will be send on june 8 already.
POP people are going to Milan for the Prof cup, so my best guess will be after the Prof cup (june 16), but if they are quick it can also be before.
