I was at league today and I saw this kid with a tub, yes a tub, of cards with an old skool eevee in all of the mess. This guy I know collects eevees and I didn't know if he had that one, so I ask the kid if I could have it. He says that He would trade it, but I couldn't have it. I only carry rares and holos around with me, but I told him that he could look. He took about 10 minutes looking through the entire binder, and then says that the only card he would trade it for is my charizard ex (I have a collection of charizards). I tell him that he's crazy and that he really wasted my time. He asked me to trade him a $100 card for a 2 cent card.

Another time I traded a kid for a lv x. I gave him 5 good rares and an EX. Later he comes up and asks me for more cards for it. I go ahead and give him 3 more good rares. Later the same day he decides that he wants his lv x back, so I give it to him and he gives me my cards back after 5 minutes of trying to find them, and they're pretty scratched up.

One more crazy thing is that everyone around my league is always asking for commons and uncommons, and doesn't want any rares which I have almost all of the legal ones.

Kids at league are trading each other lv x's for pikachus and 2 wailords for a chimchar. Turtwig for aggron!?!?! It's just insane!!!

So what is your opinion on this? I don't think that it is even worth trading n00bs anymore, and to just trade people that I know won't do any of these crazy things.

if they ask for there cards back be like i already traded them sorry.also if they want more cards be like how we used to in the hood and be like slap back no trade backs.

It's anoying when you get hit by a wave of them. I've got a pretty good colection (including Charizard ex), so there's lots of shouting.
But I feel sorry for those who get ripped off. No one at my league really cares, so I try and act as the trading mediator, since they're always squabling.

this is why all trades done during league hours go through me first for approval...

Kristi my boy, you're too soft if you did a trade back. You don't commit to a trade and then want your cards back! You should have taken that chance to teach that n00b a lesson on trading cards..

But yeah, don't trade with little kids, they often don't know how much stuff is worth "Turtwig for Aggron."

I came this close to getting a GARCHOMP LV.X for $20.00 at battle roads last week!!! I swear if I hadn't jumped so fast...

OMG at my store its like the opposite. nOObs have some gold among their junk. I'll give them a bronzong or something for a TSD. I remember last format i gave like 2 celios for 3 AH Transievers when they were going for like $20 each, also gave like $10 for like 8 Mod ex's and a crapload of good rares and AH's, also why i bring lots of commons and uncommons to league. I got banned from trading for a while because i made a little kid cry when i wouldn't trade back, it was soooo funny. So to answer your question no noobs are still worth trading with. Anyone you can manipulate is worth trading with and little noobs are by far the easiest.

Here's some strategies i use.

Play1: standard double team
Traget Card(s): Anything
Speed: Medium, you need to give them a bit of time to think about it, in this situation it makes it seem better.
People required: 2-3 three is better but don't be to over the top.

Me: Your Mew* can only do a little bit of damage and has low HP. My Ryperiors has DOUBLE his HP.
Kid: I'm not sure mews still pretty good.
Me: Ryperior is better trust me i've won like a ten tourneys this year in know whats good.
My Freind: You're actually trading Rhyperior hes so broken.
Me: Yea idk i want the mew* for this junky deck i'm testing out.
My Freind: Still, hes soo good
Me: So will you do the trade.
Kid: Idk i guess
Me: Ok thanks

Play2: More and More
Target Card: Something high end.
Speed: fast, easy to realize its a bad trade just keep throwingthings on untill they say yes.
People: 1-2 i like to mix this one with the double team but it works solo too.

Me: I heard you need a salamance, i need your gardevoir lv x. wanna trade
Kid: IDK thats not really fair is it?
Me: of course not i would throw in some stuff
Kid: like what?
Me: Well you need bagons and shelgons right how about i give you three of those and another rare from my book.
Kid: Um
Me: and i'll throw in 2 bucks.
Kid: alrighti guess i'll do that
Me: Thanks kid your really helping me out.

Play3: More and More reversal
Target: Many mid-low end cards
Speed: Slow at first when you offer a good deal for the first card, then go supper fast.
People: 1, you need him to only be concentrated on you.

Me: hey i'll give you a galade for you gardevoir
Him: Ok
Me: wait a sec i'm not sure galade is a bit better how about throwing in that toros
Him': sure
Me: well i need a few trainers too they're not worth much how about you throw in 2 celios and 2 rosannes
Him: um i guess since they're only trainers
Me: K thanks how abuout 4 Basic darks just to be nice
Him: Ok

Play 4: Call it out
Cards aquired: One or more high end cards
Speed: medium
People:1
Assume x noob needs x card

Me: Hey i have a lucario lv x for trade anybody need one
Kid. Ooo i do i'll give you anything
Me: Well i like your cresselia and gardevoir lv X how about both for one.
Kid: Thats not really fair
Me: well this is the only way your going to get one and its really good and really rare i'm probably just going to keep it.
Kid: ...
Me: yeah i'll just keep it then
kid: wait can you throw in something
Me: i guess something small, how about a reg lucario and AH Riolu
Kid: fine

There are a few more but really those are he main ones got me like $600 in cards this past year.

Also on a side note let them make thew first offer if possible. And if they ever need a common/uncommon/bad rare give it to them it makes trading easier in the future if they trust you. Because the people you trust can control you the most.

Also avoid kids with parents there unless the parents were clueless.( one time a parent more or less forced his kid to trade his latias* for some junk of mine even tho the kids didn't want to).
Also it helps to actually be good at the game that earns you the nOObs respect.

Also feel free to use price guides like beckett they are useually wrong in your favor.

Also don't linger, gat in, make the trade and get out don't brag about it untill said kid leaves.

Show off your book often even if you don't need anything at the time when the kid gets something then they'll come to you.

Stock up on new set cards right away kids love gwetting new stuff.

Stand up for your right even against a league leader. If you get called out on a rip act like your right and they're wrong, it might not help with the LL but your prey won't get the wrong idea.

Know the people at your league there are always some nasty people who will ruin your trades learn how to work around them.

On ocasion feel free to make fair trades to make the kids happy. They may get ahead in the short run but in the long run you'll own everything they have.

Always act gracious and polite when not playing a part in a trade put up a good image.

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY don't let the allure of a good card cloud your judgement, don't do something stupid that would get you in trouble and halt future trades.

Well those are my tips.

^ You sound mean to little kids lolz.

Oh well :p

My moral:

Kids want big, scary things.
I want trainers, and slightly scary things.

My big scary thing for your TSD = happy on both ends.

lol, I try to throw stuff in sometimes if I feel I'm ripping off the kid but eh, Ive gotten a total of 4 TSDs like this.

I always make sure my trades are fair before I complete a trade. That way, I don't have to worry about having to give back cards or give more cards. If they come back, I can't say that I would feel obliged to give them anything else, and just say sorry. I've never had any problems with this however as I make sure that they know the deal is final.

As far as unfair trades are concerned: I tend to see the little ones want my high end cards when I'm trying to trade for something common, and they obviously don't realize that they won't be making any trades if they constantly do that. I just tell them what exactly they're asking of me so in the future they don't make the same mistake. If you see others actually accepting these types of trades, gently intervene with your opinion. They don't know any better, so the only way they'll know how to trade is if someone gives them some advice.

lol, The Captain is my HERO!
wow, i guess the professor core values don't mean anything to you then?
Core Values

A Professor should strive to adhere to the Spirit of the Game at all times and should encourage his or her fellow players to do the same. Professors are held to a higher standard than the average Pokémon Organized Play member. As such, violations of the Spirit of the Game or the Professor Core Values could result in permanent suspension from the Program.
The Professor Core Values are:
Integrity
A Professor must act with integrity at all times. A Professor should be fair and unbiased, whether judging a tournament or resolving a dispute. Personal feelings about another player can often cloud a judgment call. A Professor must not take these feelings into consideration when resolving an issue between players, parents, venue staff, or spectators.
Honesty
A Professor must be an honest individual. It is critical to the integrity of the Professor Program that its members have a reputation as trustworthy and honest. If players cannot trust a Professor to be honest, they cannot trust that his or her rulings are accurate or events fair. In addition, Pokémon USA may occasionally contact Professors to assist in player or venue investigations. If a Professor has been known to be dishonest, the integrity of the investigation may be jeopardized.
Responsibility
Professors are trusted with a great deal of responsibility. If a Professor is a Tournament Organizer or League Leader, it is critical that all event reporting is done in a timely manner. In addition, a Professor working at an event is responsible for ensuring that all event prizes and participation rewards are handed out according to the event guidelines.
Professionalism
To maintain a higher degree of respect, Professors should act professionally when acting in an official capacity. Foul language, horseplay, smoking, drinking alcohol, and similar activities are unacceptable while actively representing Pokémon. Players, parents, spectators, and venue staff should be addressed courteously, regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or physical or mental capacity. In addition, it is unprofessional to publicly make negative comments about Pokémon, the Pokémon TCG, or Pokémon USA without first trying to resolve these issues with Pokémon USA via private communication. Negative comments made publicly only hurt the brand, the game, the company, and the organized play program.
The relationship between Pokémon USA and a Pokémon Professor is an "at-will" relationship. This means that either party, at any time, for any reason, is free to sever the relationship. If Pokémon USA or the member severs the relationship, the member will no longer be considered a member of the Professor Program and will not be eligible to receive any of the benefits associated with the Professor Program.

Which is why I stopped trying to be Mr. Shining Example Pokemon Player and started being Mr. Unshaven Guy Who Usually Only Talks To Adults But Still Acts Kind Yet Firm To Kids. The fewer kids you have buzzing around you, asking to give your binder pages a fresh coat of 8-year-old slobber, the more deck-testing you'll be able to perform.

BTW guys, I think you missed Flareon's sarcasm. Not everyone says what they mean.

I guess you don't know what lol implies.

When The Captain said stuff like "But Rhyperior has DOUBLE his HP!" and started mentioning Beckett I took the whole post as a joke and srsly lolled. However, I read it again (the whole thing) and it looks like he was actually being serious. OF COURSE I don't condone such trading. I give so many cards away it's become a problem on several occasions (not having what I thought I had for a tournament).

So ya, even though you can easily rip noobs, you're a low life if you resort to it.

ps
Thanks, Phazon Elite, for not jumping on me l-o-l.

When I was a kid and my LL did this for a while I hated it and everyone did, its a terrible way to go with. They aren't your cards so you shouldn't have a say. Are there bad traders and bad trades that happen? Of course, in pretty much everything not just Pokemon. I don't know its just annoying.

With that in mind I always try to make sure the kids and parents in my league know the value of cards and keep a watch for any bad trades that may happen. Not to mention some kids just rather have a bunch of pokemon holos instead of a trainer they'll never use.

Wow. I'm so glad you guys have morals around here. I've made trades like these too, but i insist on making up for the value of the card. One time at league, a kid was looking to build a blaziken deck. He had a lugia Ex for trade. I ended up trading him 4x PK blaziken, 4x combusken, and 4 torchic. He wanted to make the deal, and I flat out told him that the deal was not fair, and he should pick out something else from my binder. I'm not one to take advantage of people that are younger than me.

the parents at my league are GLAD that i do this; 75 - 80% of my league members are -11 y/os. and before it comes up: i _never_ trade, myself there to avoid any impression of a conflict of interest.

I must say that I'm the opposite of most of you. I tend to rip myself off so much.
For the most part, I have everything. The only cards I'm missing are the Lv X's. So say I'm looking for a Honchkrow Lv X. Everyone in my league is like "I've got one!!" And I say "Ok, I'll trade ya for it". They look through my stuff, and they're like "Gimme your Gardivoir lv X, and 2 Gallades". I respond, "that's totally ripping me off". They say they won't trade for it otherwise. I'm like "whatever, I just need the stupid card".

I know in the past, I've traded 6-7 Ex's for a Mew Ex LM. All of the ex's were very playable (Jolteon, Flareon, the Bird set, and stuff like Groudon Ex [snipe for 100]). I don't really care what it costs me, I just need the card. (not for collecting, I'm strictly a playa).

I must say, I need to try out The Capitain's tactics :D

I agree with Mom on this. Trader that take advantage of kids just so they can better themself is completly wrong and sad.

How would you feel if you had kids and they got Jipped for some useless cards?

This is where Honesty in this game fails. People Cheating Out and Jipping, just so they can get something they want
