Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Tentacruel/Azelf Lv.X Deck Idea

I think that Flariados is right, the general idea should be

3-4 Absol for Start
2-2 or 3-3 Tenty for energy attachment
2-2 Lanturn LA for damage spread
2-2 Azelf and Lv.X for more spread

perhaps that is overkill? i think the general idea is good, the combo will just be hard to play

Didn't one of the Deoxyses did 20 damage times the number of energy the opponent has? Something like that?

Before I start my post I'd like to just make clear when I use the term "Tentacruel" I mean the card and when I use "Tentacruel13" I mean the user, no exceptions.

I don't like Tentacruel for a number of reasons. One being the total dependence on opponent. Things like Gardevoir and Ampharos get away with this because you realistically have to use supporters, there's no other way to set everything up as well. Tentacruel's Tentacle Tease depends on something that is far easier for your opponent to control. Night maintenance, restore, dual trans and other ways can limit or negate Tentacle Tease. Attaching energies to their pokémon is, at some point, going to help them. Keep in mind that Stark Mountain even has suprise factor in making complete use of Tentacle Tease. So either, they stop the spread or they make very effective use of it. Very easy to play around, in fact so easy it becomes an auto loss.

Another thing is Tentacruel's general stats. Compared to other pokémon in DP-on, very unimpressive. Some very durable pokémon such as Rhyperior LvX with 170HP. Is 20 even 40 really going to scare it? Paralysis isn't going to be as effective as it comes to mind when reading the card. Particularly with many strong level Xs, you level up to heal from it. Plus, paralysis can be avoided with the right plays. People are going to be prepared for paralysis because of the threat of Gliscor and Magnezone. Extra warp points, whatever it's just not a problem.

Some pokémon have some exceptionally strong effects they can get away with not being so good, such as Exeggutor. I very much like the hand swap attack and the call for family basic. Testing will show whether Claydol can stop the idea or not.

One thing that's pretty funny is that you can take advantage of Kingdra discarding energy, which is their general strategy. The only problem is that Kingdra can 2HKO Tentacruel fairly easily.

I think this combo is a decent idea, but it doesn't do enough damage and it's not fast enough to do much.
