Pachi Or Phione/Call Energy ??

So far from testing I find Phione/Call to be far superior I love getting out 2 basics then get the evos going like T2 claydols/faster gardies. with the ability to get those togetics out and not always burning a candy for kiss can save it for later game.

Thoughts??? Flames???

Honestly, for a deck that can fit it in I play
3-4 Pachi
1 Phione
2-4 Call Energy

My Plox for DP-On has
4 Pachi
1 Phione
3 Call Energy

I never get a bad start.
The thing is, with Phione you are not guaranteed to have Call Energy in your hand. If you do, then you are lucky and will prolly setup just fine.
With Pachi you can get any 3 Pokemon off the bat, one of those being a Phione (if needed) AND you can play Call Energy just to increase consistency.

Personally, I think Pachi with tech Phione is good.

^ Exactly what I use.

I tried the 4-4 Phione-Call for a while, but lone Phione starts get old after a while.

Phione just got massively overhyped.

I don't even play Pachirisu anymore. I either want to go on the offense early, or I have a better starter (Phione/Furret (quasi-starter)). I'm seeing myself put in 2-3 Call Energy in many of my decks that starting with it quite a bit. I barely use Phione that much.

Why use any starters at all if you got call nrg ?
4 Call NRG 1 Pachi 1 Phione (incase of awful starts) works great

i think Phione/Call Energy way better then Pachi or Pachi/Phione.

here's why:

4 Call NRG equals the same consistancy to draw into the opening hand as 4 Pachirisu. so in a way its essentially the same thing.

4 Call NRG and 4 Rosanne's makes it fairly unlikely that you'll have a lone Phione start.

(not only that, but with the Pachi+Phione combo, you have to invest 2 energy to use both Pachi and Phione, and your bench is larger, and more prone to an opponent's Dusknoir)

idk just my opinions

I still play Pachi. After all the effort to get 4 Pachi I think I'll have to be completely convinced Phione/call energy beats it in every way. The power to get 3 instead of 2 is just so much more useful IMO. I don't Pachi/Phione/Call energy will help you alot but using your first 2 attachments is not that appealing.

I'm a man of my Pachirisu.
Nothing I like to see more in my opening hand than a Pachirisu, Claydol, and basic energy (or access to the later two).
Call Energy is an awesome card, no doubt and I will and do run it in the majority of my decks, but nothing beats a Pachi start with Claydol access. Plus I really don't mind if Pachi gets ko'ed while setting up my scrambles, whereas whatever might have the Call Energy attached could be a needed Pokemon that I would hate to lose.

Why wouldn't Call Energy + Smeargle be good? You get basics and basic pokemon, pretty much everything you need to get going, and you also get trace power which can use call energy's colorless.

How does Trace work by the way? Seems to me if someone sets up nice that could be a killer attack power.

Hmm. Pachi is good, but i definitely like Phione+Call, especially if you go second and pull a Roseanne's. Heck, then you don't even need the call energy and you can start Evo Wishing

Wow.. People still use Pachi? He's so bad now that it's not even funny. =/ Call energy does exactly what pachi does but gives you more options with whoever you start with. Either that, or use Roseane/Mentor with is normally used in a combination of 3-4. So there is 7-8 Cards that search for basics for Phione to abuse, along with the odds of simply drawing the basic you need. Pachi is a waste of space and is a thing of the past. I only see him as anti Cess tech, and nothing more.

To the post above mine: The answer is simple. You energy easily by having enought sence to put plenty into your deck. Evolutions that Phione get are harder to draw, as they are capped at four per deck, and most the time decks don't even have room for 3 of a said card's evolved form. Smeargle is not necessary to start with.

3-4 Pachi
and 3-4 Call energy
makes for insane consistency.

4 Call Energy and 0 Pachi makes for not that great consistency.

If you can give up a little consistency in your deck and don't have to have a Pachi/Call start then I'd say go ahead and play the 4 Call, BUT in a lot of my setup decks I am finding that when I don't start with my Pachi or Call/Tech Phione I don't setup very fast.

Here's what I play,

In my Plox I have:

2 Phione
4 Call Energy
3 Roseanne's

It works out extremely well.

In plce of the four Pachi for getting basics, I have 2 Roseanne and 2 Mentor. So in total, 8 cards to search for basics, which is consistant enough along with the generic odds of drawing basics from topdecks or from your opening hand.

I suppose either way could work, I simply prefer Phione.

You guys are just discussing this now? Lol. Yeah Phione
and Call are better. But if your going to do it that way make
sure you have some Basic Searching cards like Great Ball/
Dual Ball or Roseanne's/ Mentor. Also I think it depends on
the deck. Some decks you might not even need Pachi or Phione
for example Banette.

Phione and Call are better because anything can use Call energy, and it still serves as a :colorless energy after you've grabbed the basics.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

Pachi is a snipe on any bench just waiting to happen.
