Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Cute BR's JR story

I was at a BR in Montgomery AL on 6-15 when a Spinarak took down a Gallade. There was a 1st round battle between 2 of the nicest and most gracious kids you'll ever want to meet. A really smart 4 yr old started out with an Ariodos against a Phione. Next turn he evolved to Spinarak, while the Phione stayed put. Now, the Phione is just a starter for the other kids Gallade/ Mismagius. The 4 year old couldn't even pronounce Spinarak's attack: IMPOUND, but the other player helped him pronounce it. That was the beginning of the end! The gallade deck runs no water energies and no switches/warp points/super scoop ups. Spinaraks IMPOUND attack allows no retreat for the opponent. So after about 10 minutes of "Impound.... Pass.... Impound.... Pass....Impound....Pass" , all the Gallades on the bench that were fully powered were useless and the Gallade decked himself. Was it a lucky break? Most definitely! Will it happen again? Probably not. But it was cute battle between 2 of the brightest and best in the Southeast. Just goes to show Gallade is beatable, especially with a Phione start and a Spinarak on the other end. P.S. We still love ya B.

And if the GG only had a Claydol available, the judge would have had a BAD TIME.

Never able to deck, and never able to retreat.

Judges, what would YOU have done here? If Claydol was being used by the GG player?

I have my answer...which will be controversial.

Vince: That only becomes an issue IF the ariados player plays a Claydol also, otherwise, the spider player will deck out and lose (eventually).....(as long as the 4 yr old remembers to draw each turn).

That was my son Brandon who had the Gallade Deck. We are still laughing about the game. Niether player took a prize card and he lost the game. :eek:Brandon was undefeated Friday and Sat. it was a first game loss for him on Sunday. He made a great come back to win the tornament after the 4 yr old put him out with that card.

Both the 4 yr old and his older brother are great players. Well no doubt a few changes will be made and the lock down won't happen again>:thumb:

Brandon finished with 7 Battle road wins 33-2 . Yes the 4 yr old claims one of those loses.

Look forward to seeing everyone at Nationals.:pokeball:

Thanks Ga Boys for the kind words. Both the kids are great sports.

Nice to hear some good news for a change, it reminds me of the year I won a game with pidgey at Nationals to years ago. Corner FTW!

the small juniors are beast. there is one that i go to league with, and he plays gardilade like it's second nature. good job righting something up for this little boy, he shall be a great player.

HAHAHA!!!

That is the most hilarious story ever.

I would high-five that little kid, but I think I'd accidentally knock him over. lol

Leprecaun: Is your son one of those really high-ranked Juniors?

This is THE MOST hillarious Pokemon story I've ever read! Makes you think twice about have a Pokemon that can't do damage, and no Switch-Warp.:lol:

And this reminds me of the PR where I beat an Arcannine ex deck useing Mew and a Magby.:rolleyes:

It goes to time and the aridos player retreats and koes the phione for game.:lol: I did this with psyduck vs. pokecenter. Good times.

Your assuming the 4 yr old will realize this and make the move. The spider player may deck out before then also. Now, if both players played claydol and used it correctly, there would be no deck outs, but only the spider player could achieve a KO via retreat once time is called. IF the kid doesnt realize this and just keeps saying "impound" (after using their claydol)..................then what?

Keith

PS Of course, if the 4 yr old know how to use the claydol properly, then they probably know to retreat and get the KO when time is called. It would be a LOL moment though.

That was almost as bad as the time I beat someone with Cursed Stone and and Holon's Magnemite in Masters division.

Impound wins games!

Epic story, Must be one of the best story I heard in a LONG time. Major props to the 4 year old junior.

It goes to show that people are jumping on the Arch-type bandwagon, and not really knowing what they're doing. Any good G&G deck runs at least a 1-1 line of Claydol, Gardy Lv.X's bddy means it should have 1 or 2 War Point. Running no :water: energy along with all those other errors is the icing on the cake of misstakes (the G&G player gets the cake).

The GG player only won 7 BRs. Although this is his 1st season in OP, he has really made great strides. He hit a match up that only crippled him with a phione start. Who runs water in GG anyway??? They run fighting, psychic and DREs, maybe 1-2 scrambles. So, the deck build failed 1 time in this match up. The kid only went 33-2 in his last 35 competitive matches. (Didnt ask what your record was Musc X )

I agree that you wouldn't really run water, but haveing an active that can bet stuck like tht is not a good idea.
My record: 5/8 in premier :nonono:. I never really get to go to events, and Empoleon is the biggest deck around here (I run Infernacatty).
