Anti Empo/Kingdra

With Empoleon MD and the new Kingdra being most probably the 2 of the best decks next season I was wondering if there was a solid Lightning deck (that still holds it's own against other decks) that will beat these 2 hands down.

Much in the same way these 2 will make Magmortar extinct.

P.S. Don't just post:

LUXRAY WILL PWN etc

post what pokemon, what set, what it works with etc

Ideas/thoughts?

About Kingdra(most overhyped card of next set), I'm thinking to destroy his main source of drawing and hand. I'm presume most of Kingdra deck will use claydol so deck that can snipe or have gust of wind effect ( don't forget victrebell, cradily, and metagross in next set too) will work great too.

For depleting hand, absol and aipom( rarely used card but it's good for his 2 card discard) can work nicely.

About Empoleon, some of people already teched dugtrio cg(bench protect) and it's worked great .After rotation, you can use bastiodon but it's fossil so it's your preference to use it or not.

That's my opinion for now, hope it helps.

There's always Tentacruel/Lanturn combo which will pick water energies out of discard messing up their strategy...

But then your not getting enough ko's. Then Kingdra is spreading and doing 60 and 2HKO everything.

But I think lanturn would be a good card in a spread deck. Because it's first attack can spread a lot of damge. Also it's second attack can provide the power for a spread deck.

Also empoleon won't be used as much this next season because there are so many better spreading cards besides empoleon. AMU will be popular though for some reason. Luxray can really hurt that.

Have you ever actually tried using dugtrio cg to combat empoleon? It really isn't as effective as most people make it out to be.

I'm not so sure about Lanturn/Tentacruel yet, but I'll definitely give it a try (at least for league play) when they come out.

This is next season, Dugtrio won't even exist.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

Tentacruel/Lanturn is a good deck and I tested it against Kingdra and it works well against Kingdra.

But how would it do against other decks?

More than likely, not very well.

I am 99% certain that Kingdra will be the BDIF for at least Fall Battle Roads, until another set comes out, opening up the options.

I did not really test it against other decks but the deck runs well and the spreading damage adds up pretty quickly.

you could try maxing out wager; have at least 3 tg mars and 3 absol. the strategy works as long as they do not have claydol out.

Magmortar isn't really played anymore becasue of the Empoleon spread and omastar. It can pick up Magmortar and leave Magmar with a Scramble, discarding it.

Kingdra can not beat new Dusknoir
In Japan, Several Dusknoir is and will be provided.
Below Dusknoir already provided as PROMO cards.

- Dusknoir
PP : Darkhide
This PP only use once a turn.
Flip a coin. If heads, you see oponents hands and choose a Pokemon card and put this card to bottom of oponents library.
This PP can not use, if this Pokemon is special conditions.
Attack
Supramundane Pulse
Psy, Psy, NonColor 70
Choose 2 damage counter of this pokemon and move these to oppoments benched pokemon.
(If Oponents have no benched pokemon, this effect is not happen.)

Kingdra can not beat this Dusknoir.

Electivire can take care of both, as long as you provide him with secondary energy acceleration.
Leafeon does well too, and a tech Jolteon just makes it a cakewalk once you setup.

I think anything with water resistance is pretty good. The big problem against Kingdra is that it can 2hit anything from turn 2 onwards, and there's hardly any recovery time. If you take away the 2hko capability, you have more time to set up.

Leafeon fits the bill pretty well. With PP/Buck's it can 2hit Kingdras with Leaf Guard, which means it's only taking 10 if they choose to discard.

Eeveelutions and Garchomp increase in power next season, and Kingdra should have a hard time against both of them. You may laugh at me, but I also see Bellossom/Vileplume as a viable deck (in swarm style like Beedrill) and a good counter against Kingdra.

Empoleon won't be superior any more without Scramble Energy. It can still be a good deck, but not one of the best two in format.

Kingdra can not beat this Dusknoir.
Kingdra can easily beat this Dusknoir in a format without DRE.

With HP-on ressources, Dusknoir would be one of the greatest cards (not only because it would beat Plox at any time), but in DP-on, I don't think there will be a really strong deck with it until the Lv.X Dusknoir has released.
