Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Sunday Live from U.S. Nats - Winners announced!

to all the people who have said things aganst my post its not that I dont liket the person its that I dont like how they cant make an original dck or if they can they choose to play the meta game because they think they cant win witha nother deck. The point of this game is to be the best by making a grate deck yourself and not using the easy deck that everyone wins with and just for the recourd I havin't gone to nats because canadian nats havin't happened yet but when I go I won't play a stupid meta game deck and then lose to someone that can think of a good deck themselves and be original!

It is all in what one person views to be the best deck and what will win. If you think that playing Blissey will help you win, then play Blissey. If I think that playing PLox will make me win, I will play PLox. It is the same thing.

I'll be honest, I'd rather anything but GG won. I've had it, played it, and hated it. Too easy to play, too easy to win against any other deck. I was just so bored this year.

Anyway, congrates to Gino and the other two! I may think GG is a simplistic deck, but that doesn't mean he must not have had plenty of skill and luck to win! Good job!

Ummm guys, congrats are great ideas of course, but if you have sour grapes take it politely to another thread - hopefully in the right forum. Random topics would be nice. However be advised that improper posts will have consequences - like one I just deleted.

Drew was playing GG, not Empoleon. I played him top 8.
I think Mikey was playing GG too. So three out of the top four were GG.
Congrats to everyone. Good job north east -- 1st, 4th, and top 8, and many more in other age groups.

hey just i question idk if any1 can answer this
did we have more people participate in this years nats then last years?
thanks if u can

I'm interested to see how this ranking war stacked up. I ended the day 5-4; yet, I still stand a very real chance of getting an invite.

I probably should know who you are, but I've been away too long. Anyway, since I don't know where you are in the ratings, I can't comment on your numbers in particular.

But I have been running some math as it relates to my brother, Bobby M., who was 34th in Master in NA going into the event--he went 6-3.

What I think it comes down to for anyone on the cusp is strength of schedule. If you lost three or more games, and were not over 1900, you probably have to come out of the weekend with a net gain to remain in what is essentially a "Top 41" pool.

I don't think anyone under 1900 will be able to break even and remain in the running, because there are simply too many X-2s and X-3s that are going to jump them.

In Bobby's case, there are two estimates that I've worked out, not knowing who he played.

Three losses at -30 each = -90 points
Six wins at +20 each = +120
Net gain: 30

In this model, I think the player makes it.

Three losses at -30 each = -90
Six wins at +15 each = +90
Net gain: 0

In this model, player probably misses.

Now, at 5-4, you can do your own estimate...but you're going to have to hope for a very strong +/- on the day.

So, the T4 consisted of 3 GG/PLOX and one Torterra? That's boring and uninvigorating. -_-

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for Gino, but I'm honestly more excited about Colin's T4 Torterra deck than anything else from Nats. Unless you have some sort of emotional tie to Gino, it is impossible to say that Plox winning Nationals is as cool as Torterra/somethingelse doing the exact same thing. I may as well not have even logged on to find out what won, I could have just assumed the obvious . . . and I would have been correct.

"But dude, how dare you say anything negative about Nationals U have to be good to comment about anything blahblah!"
It doesn't matter how good and/or bad I am. Gino's almost certainly better than I am at Pokemon, that's obvious, and I certainly will not try to prove otherwise. However, that does not mean I can't say what I want about his deck, and that does not mean I have to be impressed that Plox won Nationals.

I have no significant emotional attachment to any of the players in the top 8 (IIRC. I forgot who was in there), so I only care about the decks used. Thus, from my analytical standpoint, I am obviously disappointed in the results. Bo. Ring.

Again, because it bears repeating, I am not bashing Gino for using PLOX. He did what any rational person would do: he chose the deck which he felt would give him the best shot at winning. All I am doing is expressing my dissatisfaction with the decks used at Nats. Gino is good, his deck is good, the outcome of Nationals is plain boring.
