I am so sick and tired of people complaining about how they get screwed by time or by GG.

Give me a break.....

Everyone knows how the game is played. It has been 30 minute limits forever. Now all of the sudden people are losing by one turn and they can take time limits? PLEASE.... Adjust your game like everyone else. Just cause you could have taken a prize that following turn doesnt mean that you would have won that particular game.

Second..... All this crying about GG.... and how dominate it is... The only reason GG is winning EVERYTHING is sheer numbers. If 70+% played magmortar.... It would also be winning everything. Sure many months ago I ask for a ban of Gardy and mortar, even though I knew it wouldnt happen. Since then I have adapted to my surroundings and done something about it. It is not invincible. Although it does make mediocre players look amazing.... Wait till next season and see where all the gardy players rank....

People.... The game is in a crybaby state.... Adjust to the rules and accept them. They are not going away.....

I would like to thank POP for not giving in to public pressure and taking it all in stride!

A 30 minute time limit is easy when you KO a poke to get 2 prizes. Or when your opponents turns dont take, yknow, 5 minutes each due to Telepass, Night Maintainance, Power Claydol, Celio, Attach Energy, Level Up, Teleportation, Bring Down.
Nowadays, 30 minutes is too short because:
A - Turns take pretty long now thanks to Claydol
B - There are no I Ko So I Take 2 Prizes anymore
C - There seems to be a lot more direct search involved as random drawing. Which arguably takes more time.

And why do you think people play GG in sheer numbers? Because its so good. Thats why it wins, not because its in sheer numbers (Does contribute), but its so good. Eh, I couldn't care less about GG at this point though because I'm fully focused on next season already, but I just needed to throw that in.
 
30 minutes is fine with me. Archtypes are fine with me too. I only have a problem with cards that are unbalanced (see my topic on this).

Gatr wasn't unbalanced. You had to have the trainer engine to make it work.

Gardy IS unbalanced. No card should have a great Pokemon Power AND have an attack that prevents your opponent from playing Pokemon Powers.

Dusknior is unbalanced too. As one who used Giant Stump effectively at Worlds 2006, you should know how much more balanced that staduim was than Dusknior.

So yeah, I have no problem with the rules. POP does a great job in this area. I just think the game was a bit stale this season due to lack of diversity due to the excessive use of unbalanced cards. JMO.

POP DON'T GIVE IN TO ANY OF THIS!!!

Even though I'm not playing in worlds, it would be very unfair to ban a card or change the rules of the game SO close to worlds. Imagine telling an 8yr old that they can't use there Gardy deck aka the only deck they have and know how to play, just because all the people that lose to it wanted it banned so they could win. :nonono:

I completely agree with this! From a Master's POV, I would love to see a restriction/ban/whatever that would stop GG decks, but you need to remember this is a game intended for Juniors too. There are Juniors who won their Nationals with a GG deck they love, and have been testing it for Worlds. Now suddenly they can't play it anymore, cos a few Masters feel the deck is impossible to beat?

It won't happen.

How can we change the time limits to satisfy 1 deck? After the rotation do you suggest they change it back? Absolutley rediculous....

I would love to see 45 minutes best of 3 back.
This season we played Bo3 at some CC/SPT's and game at others.
In best of 3- 45 minutes most times GG didn't win.

Time extension for game will not solve anything, but the option to scoop your first game and try to get back in a second one is really something else.
 
BANGONBOX FOR PRESIDENT! :lol: Seriously, as much as I dislike the GG decks that are out there, and as the turns do seem to take forever, I dont think a ban is in order. The deck is beatable, and to be honest, if you can find a way to beat it regularly, and as many people are playing it, you can still do well in tournaments. Look at Jimmy with "sausage" and Colin with Torterra. I am sure those two, plus many others who made top cut and didnt play GG, faced and defeated several GG decks.:thumb:
 
I think that the Wormadam (n?) ban set a shaky precedent...one that'll get dispelled pretty soon by there being no action against GG.

Because there was a ban at all - even in a fun format - people use that as rationale for requesting that other things be banned. Don't get me wrong: Garde's dominance is ABSURD ( look at how Nationals went, both in swiss and cut), but it is not unbeatable.
 
I agree. Gardy is only this good because everyone plays it. You can't ban a card just because everyone plays it. If you really hate it so much then just counter it. It's not that hard to beat if you know how to.

I also agree with the time limit because if you don't like it then just play faster.

I think time should have been changed way before GG. This deck is just being used as an example because it's one of the biggest culprits for winning on time. Don't get me wrong though, it's not just GG, games could have been determined with in another 5 minutes or 3-4 turns in the past few seasons too.

Extending the time limits makes it much harder for ANY deck to stall opponents out, not just GG.

99% of members here are cut throat "play to win" all the time but now they're a little flustered that the "win" deck is being played by everybody. well those that play it want to win and that deck seems to do it so get over it, its your own philosophy- PLAY TO WIN. right?
if the format is so bad and unbeatable just take a season off, wouldnt be the end of the world would it? and rotation is coming soon so relief is coming lol
and this is coming from a rogue player who never plays popular archetypes (spelling??)
 
I agree with Lia.

Do not ban GG, just give us the time to play. In this format 30minutes match are not enough, give us a chance to finish our match, because people who stall are having a great time right now.

Give us best of 3 with 45 minutes, we won't play 3 matches everytime, but at least we can scoop the first and play the other 2. And the first game will take all the time that it needs at least.


I know that soon the season will be off, but we have to play Worlds..
 
I agree with you in many point, Jimmy.
But isnt this game supposed to be fun?
Sure we play to win, but take a look back to past season: so many playble and strong decks, many rogues appeared also. Last worlds was fun (even though i just sucked at it)!

This year i'm traveling thousand miles from Brazil to Orlando. On saturday i'm going to sit on R1, look my opponent deck and find GG: "Oh great, GG!" (full of sarcasm inside). And this will repeat like at last 5 rounds imo.

Doing T32/16/whatever will turn this less boring, sure.

In the end, the mind says: No ban/rest on any cards or change time limit. But the heart says: Ban/rest those cards. Do something please.

I'm not crying, but its a shame this worlds will be boring. Luckly i'm going to see again all my good friends again and meet other people aswell.

I always enjoyed reading the international reports where they were playing 45 min best of 3. I felt a touch of envy every time and wished that I could play in an event like that.

On the other hand as a father of two young JR players I think that the current system fits them better. They love to play but there can be too much of a good thing and eventually they get tired of playing game after game.

Oh, and banning G&G would be silly IMHO.
 
Jimmy, you are right about this! But, like YOU stated you also asked for a BAN too, so keep that in mind! Those other players are doing the same, because they fell it cna change the state of the game, I CERTAINLY dont beleive that and NOR do I play G/G either, you know that! Ever since I started, G/G has been a Dominate force, until Fire Truck got big, but even then G/G was VERY powerful! I NEVER once complained about how I wished the deck would leave, I am a Farm boy, and we all love challanges! I take them day to day! As in a song, I get knocked down, BUT I get up AGAIN!

We all have taken the deck for this long, just UNDER 2 more months, and it will be freed! QUIT CRYING PEOPLE! I will ALWAYS try to conquer the Metagame for as long as I play, I am GLAD G/G is here! It givres me the fire that burns to COUNTER the Heck out of it. Next Format, Kingdra, AMU, whatever will be big! Although NOT as Powerful as G/G, it is still going to be a force! If you DONT want to see it at Worlds, DONT PLAY IT!!!

I am sad to say I wont be at the Grinder in August, becuase of a addition to my Job Schedule! But, I always am glad to see people play G/G, becuase it shows how FEARLESS I am to see that deck played. No, I am not the BEST Rogue player, neither am I stating it! A player with a TRUE PASSION for something will hang in there for whatever comes their way. You cant depend on a Company to Ban a card because everyone is playing a deck, DOnt blame the Company, BLAME YOURSELF! I DONT care how good a player supports the ban, just like someone else said, " this is EVERYONES game, EVERYONES opinion is Important, no matter what you have WON!!!"

I might not win alot, but I sure do get a kick beating those playes who decide to play G/G! Eventhough it does consume time! CALL A JUDGE over, the time is fine! If you knew how many times I have lost due to time, it would Sicken you, and I havent played but 7Months! CRYING isnt going to solve anything! After the format, this should not be an issue! I have NEVER won on time, but I dont play slow either! ANY deck with a lot of options will be time consuming, but stallers are another thing! I have Playtested G/G and Plox at league for more friends to test their decks, I Havent lost with it but 3 times in the last 5 months!!! We time each other too, and havent had but 5 games go to time out of like 80ish games! It ALL DEPENDS on the player!

That is all I have to say on this issue, which is LAME to want to change, IMO!!!

The main issue is the time people, not GG. I can already tell you that with the next sets, games are going to take at least as long as a GG mirror already does. Which is why Best-Of-3-45-Minutes-Swiss needs to be back ASAP.

Back??? :/ For the 2 yrs I have been playing the only time we have ever done best 2/3 is in top cut....
