Favre Is Back

Time for Pain

<a href="http://pokegym.net/forums/showthread.php?
Now that Brett Favre is reinstated, what is the next action you think the Green Bay Packers will take? Also the Packers have announced that there will be a quarterback competition for the starting job so who will win? Now do you think it was wise for the Packers to do what they did and just say that arron rodgers would start or do you think they needed to take another form of action? Will this affect Arron Rodgers in any way since he was told he would start then Favre comes back and now he may get the starting job taken away even though he was told for months that he would be the starter come opening day?

your thoughts.

He's probably going to the Vikings. Which would be a bad move by Green Bay even though they can't trade Favre anywhere else. We'll see on opening day.

The Slackers aren't stupid enough to send Favre inside the division. Favre won't accept a trade to anybody other than the Queens. The Slackers also realize that Favre is the best QB on their roster.

Rodgers will be the opening day starter, but Favre will be in by the 3rd quarter, and will start every game after that. And I say Thank the Maker, cuz I wanna see Urlacher plant Favre on the ground one more time...

Old news. Next!

He's asking for thoughts on the matter, not snarky comments.

Anyway. Was it wise for the Pack to do this? Who cares? It's Brett Favre. =D So long as Rodgers isn't a diva, he'll get over it. And honestly, he has to. As for the QB competition, that's just a show - it's about being "fair" to Rodgers. Last, all this talk about trading... I see GB keeping both. Favre's getting old (it seems we say that every year) and with every year his tolerance for the big hits that you're bound to take in the NFL lessens. Rodgers backs him up (an honor really, to be the guy behind Favre - not as good as a starting job, but you take what you can get, and when Favre's on your team, 2nd place becomes the new 1st).

Well, the Packers are going to be dumb enough and stick with their word and stick Favre on the bench, only then to realize that 8 weeks into the season they will have made a huge mistake, and then put Favre in for the rest of the season.

If that is what happens, i see the Packers record taking a huge hit compared to last year

OK...comment. Farve should have stayed retired. I'm tired of seeing these tear jerky news conferences and then a few weeks later, they "change their mind". The GB management need to stay strong and tell Farve they run the show, not him. He can be a 12-13 million dollar back up or GO HOME. Do not trade him where he wants to go (ie Minny). IF he truly wants to play, it shouldnt matter WHERE! If they trade you to the Jets or TB, go there and PLAY...dont whine. He wouldnt even talk to these teams. What a baby!

Look at it from management's viewpoint. Farve has held them hostage for 3 straight yrs on whether he is retiring or coming back. They took it for 3 years, screwing up their draft plans etc. When they finally get a QB for the future, he wont help "groom" him. Farve sulked whenever the team wanted to give a few snaps to Rodgers bc it took away from his chance to break Marino's records. Yes, Farve stuck around for the records. If they dont find out what Rodgers can do this year, they are really screwed for a decade bc Rodgers is in his walking year. They dont want to pony up 10s of millions of dollars to a QB w/o knowing what they have! Go Ted Thompson and McCarthy!

I don't think I could see Farve on any other team than the Packers. I honestly hope he is either going to be QB for the Packers or stay in retirement.

favre needs to stay retired and of the feild cuz hes getting to old and to much of a problem for the packers. but will be awesome if he goes to the vikings ,wooot go vikings!=)

He was possibly the best quarterback in the nfl last year (excluding Brady...He isn't human).

Why would he suddenly be incapable of doing well this year?

Lets see....his last pass of the season was an interception in the playoffs. In a game in the cold where he even said his old bones couldnt get warmed up. I guess it wont get cold this year in GB???

A new offense was put in. Favre wasnt there to learn the new system. GB is doing the right thing. Itg is a team game, not one where 1 player gets to hold an entire franchise hostage. Sorry Bret.....go back to MS.

I agree completely. As a Bears fan, I either don't want to see Favre back, or I want to see him excruciatingly uncomfortable in his role or in his offense. Yes, I agree that he's a top5 alltime QB. I just hate him for beating on my Bears for over a decade...

If you are a Bears fan, you should hate Grossman way more than Favre.

I not sure which is a bigger soap opera. The Bears QB situation the last what 2-4 years or Brett Favre for the last 2 or so months.

I personally think he is going to end up with either the Jets or the Bucs. I am not sure which at this point. They said that he is going to talk to the Bucs, but supposely a bunch of his family is encouraging him to talk to the Jets to see what there idea is for him and everything.

Either way, it should be interesting,

Favre also said he wanted to play for a super bowl contender so that makes me lean towards tampa.

@Lawman: If he plays in Tampa and does well enough he'll never have to play in the cold

I think the problem with Tampa is the fact that Green Bay plays them in Week 4. You know that they would rather avoid having to face him until atleast the playoffs if not the Super Bowl. I am a Jets fan, however I am thinking he will choose to go to Tampa. I hope he choose the Jets, however I feel that Pennington will do a fine job if Favre does go to Tampa. Green Bay is asking for less from the Jets than Tampa for that reason. Supposely NY has better "recreational" activities for Favre then Tampa. I am not sure how much that is going to factor into the decision, but I think that we are going to hear something one way or another before the weekend arrives of where he is going.

To those people who thing Brett Favre is great, last year was an aberration comapred to his carrer arch the last 4 years. He isn't going to have another season like last year. I don't know what the big deal is with Green Bay. They could have solved this long ago by doing what's right for the franchise, which is using your assets to best improve your team. There are plenty of teams that are hungry for a good QB, so trade him and use those picks to further develop your team. Shockey just went for a 2nd and a 5th, Taylor went for a 2nd and a 6th (I believe), there isn't any reason they couldn't get a 1st, or a 2nd and a 3rd for a top 10 QB. Do what makes sense, make your team better by trading him and move on.

As I stated before I am a Jets fan, and I have season ticekts. I LOVE that I am going to be able to see Brett Favre play live for a whole season. It is AWESOME!! :thumb:
