Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Do you Bebe for Baltoy?

Let's assume that it is important to your deck that you get Claydol in play as soon as possible. But you didn't get Baltoy in your opening hand and you didn't get call NRG and you didn't get Rosie. What you do have is a Bebe, no Claydol and no other trainers.

Let's further assume a generic trainer line like:
4 Roseanne
4 Bebe
3 Buck
4 Call NRG

Do you Bebe for Baltoy so that it is ready to evolve next turn? Hoping to top deck Claydol, Bebe or maybe Buck to look at two more cards? It's tempting to play the Bebe but should you? If you do play it do you go for Baltoy or Claydol? If you go for Claydol you know there is a chance that they will wager it away leaving you with nothing.

I seem to end up in this situation more often than I like. I would be interested in your thoughts.

If you are playing 2-3 Claydol, then yes.
If only 2-2, then no.

You see, with a 2-3 Claydol line, you can bebe for a Baltoy, and then play it so they can't wager it.

I think if the 2-3 line is all in your deck (check to see what is prized while searching,) then it's a

very wise move since you have a good chance of topdecking claydol with Buck's, assuming there
are 3(in your deck)

I'll do it only if I know I can get the Claydol and/or NEED a basic.

If you don't play the Bebe for Baltoy, do you play it at all?
If you do play it T1 2nd and can't evolve do you go for Claydol, Evolved form of one of the basics you have out or hold it until next turn?

If I have the claydol in my hand or know I can get it next turn then yes. Also if I need a basic I will. But otherwise I would just probaly bucks.

I would get out a Claydol to start things up.

I assume that you you mean Bebe for Claydol. This seems to me the best answer. Hoping to top deck the Claydol (while it would be awesome) seems to be a fool's game. If you Bebe the Claydol, Claydol is still 2 turns away. 1 for Baltoy and another to evolve. Two chances to to get wagered. But even if it gets wagered away, the opponent has to use a wager and if he doesn't have his Claydol out and you can still end up with a card advantage.

Blaziken - If I had the Buck's I would play it. But the question is - If Bebe is your ONLY supporter do you hold it or play it?

Everytime I search for a claydol, I top deck a claydol. Everytime I get a baltoy, I top deck a Calydol. XD So I always grab the baltoy. But if I didn't always top-deck the claydol, I'd get the claydol, as I usually run call, 4 bebe's and 4 Rose's. with that kind of bland trainer line, I'm not sure what I would do though :/

Only if my hand stunk, and I had a Claydol in it. Otherwise Chatot is the better play as it is the gift that keeps on giving.

Thank you all for sharing your thoughts.

Wow Shino we must shuffle the same way.

i would get a chatot.

Another good reason for Chatot. He finds a home in my decks more often than not. Azelf's Time Walk is perhaps the best arguement for playing the Bebe. Find out what's prized on the search and possible do something about it by taking Azelf.

IMHO, if your deck rellies TOO hevily on Claydol it is destined to fail, more times then not. Rather the try to fix that situation when you are in it, try to work with the deck so that perhaps it uses Claydol more for support and is not SOLELY dependant on it.

If i'm your opponent, and you use a Bebe's to search a Claydol but you dont have a Baltoy in play, i will wager (If its convenient :p) so... why give them the advantage to know your hand? (Or your plans because THEY KNOW that you havent a Baltoy...) I will go for Rosseanne, or other thing.

Go for the Baltoy. The odds of drawing into the Baltoy (or something that can get you one) is higher than the Claydol, but you don't waste a turn and there is the additional benefit that the opponent will wager you if they can (thinking that odds are that you have a Claydol).
