Bohn's worlds report

So yeah, i decided to share my experience with you guys.

  • Pre worlds

Me and Jit Min from Singapore builded together a SD. I was the only one available to playtest the deck, so i did with a couple of friends. The ratio against plox/gg/whatever was going at last 60-40, but it was failing against empoleon. I had the deck fixed, builded and i knew exactly my steps to win GG. But after looking at the grinders and seeing too much empoleon (especially empozong, which is even worse for my deck) i decided not to use. For those who wants to know, here's the list:

3-3 banette
3-2-3 omastar
1 rotom
1 pachirisu
2 unown Q
1 chatot
1 Shiftry EX PK
1 gallade
1 empoleon lv x
1 alakazam*
2-2 claydol

4 multi
4 psy
4 water

3 warp point
3 crystal beach
4 bebe's
4 roseanne's
3 Steven's
2 Wager
2 night m

Simple strategy: barely no bad starters. T2 ghost head while you build alakazam*, which had the combos:

discard empoleon - kills their claydol (good against non-GG decks to slow their set-up)
discard gallade - tons of damage/late game sonic blade against blissey
discard shiftry EX - usually you use the second attack if they had pokemon with same name on the bench, or devolve with omastar and use their big ones from the hand (i wish i could snipe for 100 using their mag)
Pokémons such as garchomp lv x, salamence EX PK, cresselia lv x were thought also, but these 3 were def good.

The deck was good: beach to slow their DRE and avoid the scramble comeback, omastar (especially if used first the MD and after the PK) to devolve (comboes MD with wager also), the rest is self-explanatory.

But, as i told before, i changed to... Absol/GG mainly becuz:

1) I played with it all the season (remember kids, our format was HP-SW until nats, and i never played HP-GE/HP-MD tourney before)
2) I didnt see absol on grinders (could be my bad, but seems like people were forgetting it, and how disrupting it is)
3) I didnt want to use regular plox.

The deck:

Pokés:23

4 Absol
4-2-3-1 Gardy/x
2 Gallade
1-0-1 Dusknoir
1 Pachi
2-2 Claydol

Energies:15

4 Call
4 DRE
4 Psy
2 Scramble
1 Darkness basic

Trainers:22

4 Celio's
4 Candy
3 Steven's
3 Rosie
2 Night m
2 Warp point
2 Moonlight
1 Castaway
1 Cess crystal

The list was solid. I had 4 call + 3 rosie + 1 pachi to bring basics, moonlight has an amazing synergy on this deck. The only thing i was unsure was between Pachi or Jirachi EX. As Pachi would gimme a better time against empoleon, besides the consistency, i decided to keep it... and was the only mistake i did on the entire list imo.

Now about the matchups:

Round 1 - Maurice v.d Bosch (Holland) with Plox

He started pretty bad, and i was ok with absol, call and claydol + gardy on my hand. He turn 2 wager me for 3, he drew dead and i topdecked claydol, thankgod. I evolved asap gardy, started ploxing all the time while setting bench. The bohwnage was about to begin.

1-0

Round 2 - Kevin Benett (USA) with Eeveelutions (?!)

Absol on start again, rosie to bring basics while i disrupted him so badly. He started with castform, rosie for mew* d and baltoy, delta draw for 1 while i was discarding 2 and setting up. Psy lock all the way. Bohwnage ftw

2-0

Round 3 - Ulisses Santamaria (Mexico) with Absol/GG

OMG, the pesky mirror, i couldnt believe. Both start with absol, both disrupting each other to 0. But he was able to set-up before me, and the rest you know: psy lock all the way. The epic Wager for 7 times tie happened, on 8th time i won lawlz. Got Bohwned so badly :frown:

2-1

Round 4 - Alexander da Costa (Canada) with Plox

I dont remember much, i know that on the end of the game dusknoir active with cess crystal (and moonlight in play) was so strong, he couldnt stand much. Bohwn

3-1

Round 5 - Leandro (Argentina) with Plox

Both started ok, he sent Jirachi EX, i had to kill it (even knowing it was a trap to do the comeback with scramble and stuff. He had on the middle of the game 2 prizes, while i only had 4. I switched to Bohwn mode and showed some skills. We had a problem about i played rosie, put on the table to show and picked up, he said it was on the bench, and told the judges he'd win if ralts was on the bench. The judges did how he wanted, but... no, the bohwnage was superior, i warp point + dusknoir for 100 ftw, for the last prize. The bohwnage was rising.

4-1

Round 6 - Agustin (Argentina) with plox

Lol, at this point i realized that i faced no empoleon and was doing pretty good!
Both started good, i had call energy to baltoy + ralts. T2 claydol + gardy, cuz i didnt want to be wagered and depends on luck again, like first round. He had exactly as me, but played rosie for jirachi EX + psy = mini-plox. Pretty bad, he ploxed me first and i had nothing to do against ;(. Bohwned

4-2

Round 7 - Emmanuel Divens (USA) with... PLOX!

I started with absol disrupting him so bad, he couldnt set-up. I celio once and realized i had 2 gardies prized (DAMN!). Had to play carefully, so i decided to stay back and keep discarding to get some time (not stalling, but using absol to avoid his set-up). Worked pretty well. Time was called, we had 3 prizes each, but he had kirlia with 3 energies, so he sniped my benched damaged claydol ftl :frown:.
EPIC match i have to say, but i was hoping for sudden death.

4-3

Due to opp's resist i ended 40th, not bad, but could Top32 if i had at last 1 more gardy in my deck on the last round.

No sour grapes, no regrets.

Props:
