Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Virginia's Autumn Battle Roads 2008!--Now with Photo Link (end of thread)

Update: I will be at Fairfax

@ the "Battle City Games" - there were about 5 spots left on the sheet when me and nate signed up.

Wait, we are training a TO? Who are we training?
...
You don't mean me, do you? I am not a trainee! I resent that! /sniffle
Wouldn't it be funny if totoro "forgot" the event is this Saturday and left you to run the whole thing by youself? Atleast that's the traditional way to train someone in Virginia

Offer to bring tables and chairs to encourage them to raise the attendance limit :thumb:

All ratings should be current by now
I'm ahead of Javier in the ratings by 6 points! It's so good--I should just stop playing and judge the rest of the events  .

Leah, how long are the rounds going to be at Fairfax?
a) 20 min
b) 30 min
c) 40 min
d) How long you got?

For the number crunchers:
Warrenton:
Last event: 33 (06 CC)
This event: 54

Woodbridge:
Last event: 25 (08 Spring BR)
This event: 36

Virginia Beach:
Last event: 28 (08 Spring BR)
This event: 39

Warrenton was definitely a shocker, and I hear VA Beach's turnout was also unexpected. Woodbridge is slowly creeping back up to what it once was.

This happened to totoro when someone else was the VA PTO?

I meant in the top cut, Tim.
Is this your way of saying that you've updated the judging test?

Is this your way of saying that you've updated the judging test?
Nope. By "update," there's not going to be any new material yet. Instead, some of the questions and answers are going to be reformatted. There are some questions on it which have no business being multiple choice questions. It wasn't until last week we were talking about testing/grading in my education methods class that I realized how I actually wanted it.

Top Cut will be 75 minutes long, much as I hate it.

I would survive if he bailed, not that he would unless it was a dire emergency. I work well under pressure. I would just have to press-gang you into Judging :)

Update: Richmond Comix is now full. I was first on the waiting list I believe. Frank offered to bring Princess in case I don't get to play.

Looking forward to it. I promise to only threaten Jimmy and Tanner's lives once (per hour). :D

I just called the number at Fairfax and got waitlisted. Hooray. =/

If anybody here preregistered and then decides not to go, please post it here so I know whether or not to stay home.

I know that Leah, Timothy, and Co are working hard to accommodate extra players--stay tuned and I'm sure you'll get updates as Sat approaches..... This Fairfax event promises to be a slugfest--although a LATE slugfest thanx to 75 min top cuts :frown::frown: For the record, we did all of em in 60 in VA Beach just fine; nothing went to time.

Players are like gas, they expand to fill whatever they are given.....

Fairfax on Saturday, eh? Okay, time to stop messing around and play my game like I know I can.

Fair enough....

not without changing the identity of a substance. You can reduce the subscripts to create an "empirical formula" but it is NOT the same as the "true" molecular formula. Glucose, for instance must be C6H12O6, not C3H6O3. Coefficients can be changed in order to balance an equation. Thus:

C6H12O6 + 6 O2 -------> 6 CO2 + 6 H2O

describes the overall process of cellular respiration.

0.o

alright, in this thread ... for every chemistry reference .... a kitten dies

Well this is important. This is coming straight off of my chemistry homework.

Is the following equation balanced? I not, correct the coefficients.

2K2CrO4(aq)+Pb(NO3)2(aq) --> 2KNO3(aq)+PbCrO4(s)

Sure, I could read the book. But, I would rather do it this way.

Nope, send PM if you'd like help! (poor little skitty!)

Please go ahead and get on the WL for Richmond Comix. I'll do my best to sweet talk Frank about getting folks in. We have always had no-shows there at previous events.

Wait, I'm confused. We're doing 75 minutes top cut matches in Fairfax?

Did anyone really expect that Richmond Comix would not fill up?

To anyone who wanted me to take them somewhere on the 11th: I have to be at work so I can't go.

Slowly?

It's a good thing you explained that. That could have been taken several different directions.

Meowth and Skitty never had a chance.

richmond comix full!??!?!?! OH NO!!! i was considering if i should go to that or not :O

Yeah. Show up anyway. There's ALWAYS a couple of no-shows who registered very early and don't commit.

I'm bringing 6 from my neck of the woods but preregistered 7 (the 7th may be ALASKA) .. so there's 1 potential spot right there.

I decided that Tanner had a point. If we are giving 40 minutes for regular games, but 20 minutes each for 3 games in top cut doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. I know about the option to scoop and such, but in all honesty, I think most players would prefer to win or loose in an honest three games. I know I would. Nothing is worse than winning the first, scooping the second because it doesn't look good and to save time , then getting donked the 3rd.

However, that is a very long day, and I am open to what our players want. This event is for you, I just sit there and make TOM behave. If I get an overwhelming response between now and Saturday pushing for 60 Top Cut, then it will be 60.
