2011 Rotation

That would be far more balanced, and require most people to play with skill, not a gimme deck engine suited for only SP's. AR on FTW.....

GET THIS INTO YOUR HEAD: THIS IS A LUCK DEPENDENT GAME. IT IS NOT FAIR AT TIMES. IT HAS BROKEN CARDS (UXIE, SP ENGINE, ETC.). GET OVER IT.

1. See LoTaD's post. The game is not "luck dependent" and never has been.
2. It should be fair. You should get bad hands if your deck is inconsistent. You should have a strong, quick setup if your deck IS consistent. You should do well if you built your deck well and wield it to its fullest potential. You should have a chance to demonstrate all of this past the first turn or two in a LARGE majority of your games.
3. We're not allowed to tell anyone who's listening "Hey, uh, those weren't really good cards for the game, can you... tone it down a little?" It's not like no one out there is paying attention to us, Porii...

Just out of interest, how do you test in a format where there are over 15 potential BDIFs? Like, how do you build all those decks?

They may do RR-on but tbh, HGSS on is just as likely. We have another few months yet people.

Well you can do quite a bit in your head, "if I tech this I dont have to mind this so I can test against" ;)
Then again our current format needs hardly any testing either but thats because of the fact that 2/3 of games coem down to opening hands anyway.

Probably when I was the one guy in the thread who said "I like SP".

OK. We remove donking. Absolutely no possible way whatsoever you can donk. However, you still get bad starts, and get run over, like the games Yoshi mentioned.

By the time you make this game "fair", it isn't even Pokemon. It's more like Chess.

The thing is though, we've experienced formats which WERE skill based in the past but still had luck factors in it. I'm confident I could teach my brother how to play who has no experience of the game and within hours have him winning games against World Champions just by using decks like Uxie Donk. That shouldn't be happening, but I'm sure it would.

No one is saying that fluke donks shouldn't happen, or that luck should play it's part, it's just too unbalanced at the moment. It's important to get the right balance of both and right now we don't have it. Why do you think most of the sets being released seem pretty trash? Because Pokemon themselves realise this is a problem and are trying to change what they've created.

Real easy. You get a crapload of crap sleeves, proxy everything you're missing w/ bebe's search.com (<3) get a group of friends, lock yourselves in a room for 3 days with enough food, water, and space to sleep. That should be more than enough for you to test in a 15 potential BDIF format!!

Back on topic, RR-on is the one that makes the most sense, though there could be a weird one like SV-on or AR-on (who saw MD-on coming??). Personally, I would like HG-on because it should give the most balanced format IMO.

im hoping for hgss on and mid season rotation and yes donking in hgss on is possible just hard hitmonlee vs mareep col tyrogue vs any baby
They will never mid-season rotate buddy. Call me on it when it happens and I'm wrong, but I don't think they would make people drop there decks and go for everything new that quickly.

Wow. I wish people would stop posting rediculous statements like this. Sure, Pokemon is not what it used to be, but come on. You're saying that 67 percent of games are already decided before they start? Maybe if you're playing uxie donk, and that's a big maybe.

If the determining factor in your games is your opening hand, I would recommend making some changes to your deck/playstyle/outlook on the game.

I'd really like the format to end up RR-on or AR-on, it just makes the most sense, otherwise Catcher breaks everything. I would also REALLY like a mid-season rotation because this format is getting stale.

It makes no sense why PIP would force format the condition of the meta isn't that extreme. If a few cards are too much rogue or ban them .

Just in these last few sets we've seen cards delayed until the next set for seemingly no reason (half of LL being in Triumphant, half in Call of Legends, as well as that whole Unleashed/Undaunted mess), it wouldn't surprise me to see these "game breaking" (as I've seen numerous posts refer to them as) cards like Pokemon Catcher and Max Potion pushed back a set and end up in whatever format we have for 2011-2012.

That would mean they're still within the rotation, which is why I'm saying, I'd like to see Spiritomb in the same format as Catcher.

I don't think that the first set to any new block of cards (FRLG, DP, PL, HGSS) has ever been broken up in the way Triumphant or other sets have been. I could be wrong on that one though. I really don't think P!P will break up Black & White. In the time I've been playing, the times they've held off on releasing cards and broke up sets have actually hurt the game more than it's ever helped it. To me, it seems like they blindly release sets according to a business model rather than in the best interest of the competitive player.

Remember what the point of the Rotation is? for pokemon to make money. So when they take out our biggest source of Drawpower, Uxie/ Uxie Lv. X, They are going to Implement another draw power "supreme" (like claydol, he was supreme)
So my Prediction is, in the set right before a Rotation that takes out LA/SF (I think the new Rotation will be PT on), We will have the Privilege of using another Draw power major.
On the Same note, The biggest decks of really any time, which in my opinion all lay in SF, are being rotated probably, so we should be on the lookout for Some Really über playable cards soon. if not soon expect to see a BDIF card come out by Next rotation, (August?)
This is all the opinion of a Player who has only gone through one Rotation However.

I disagree. Pokemon saw a problem and is trying to fix it by making specialized draw power in decks. No more huge versitile draw. They want decks to have a bit more of a theme.

No way. They didn't have a rotation two years ago so that they could have a bigger card pool. You are saying they are going to rotate out what would be the equivalent of two years of set? No way. I expect PT-on. It makes the most sense. However I could see them doing RR-on. Dialga G Lv. X is a big reason I expect it to be PT-on. Without it Vileplume can just run wild, not that it isn't already doing that.

Drew

Why not? They have too manysets because of the stalled rotation. Look at what Pokemon is doing...they are trying to add balance to the game. RR-on is the least they'll go.

There's a business model behind it? I thought they'd just make a ling list of cards that need yet be printed, then threw darts at them, picking out those that they hit until they hit an acceptable number for a set, print those and call it a day...

Haha, nice. Well, we've seen them pull this stunt quite a few times. I remember when Great Encounters was released, they held off on printing Phione, Call Energy, and Bronzong (among others), all of which could have been used to help decks set up better against GG. Notably, the Bronzong/Empoleon deck ended up being a nice counter to GG. Lost World was held off until Call of Legends. And can anyone tell me whether or not Medicham ex/Battle Frontier was held off to be released in Emerald?

As a competitive player, it looks like they're dead on when it comes to holding off on the release of cards that would actually change the game. I don't know why they do this.

The world may never know. Oh, as far as Medicham ex/Battle Frontier, neither were in any sets, as Medicham ex was in one of those special decks in Japan, and Battle Frontier was American made. So, I don't think they were held off so much as the two being released at the perfect opportunity, since they would not likely have come at any other point.

To be quite honest, I really hope they stop tampering with the sets, unless it really is in the best interest of the players. It gets ridiculous when, for Unleashed, they gave us two of the primes we should've gotten in HGSS, and got Legends that would've been in Undaunted. What made matters worse, at least imo, was the releasing of Entei Raikou Legend before BRs/Nats/Worlds. ERL would not have been an issue until the following season, which would've greatly influenced the format. It's things like that, and what they did for GE, that really just...ugh.
