2011 Rotation

My theory is RR-On.
if you think about it, they reprinted alot of HGSS in CoL and i'm also speculating that the next years rotation would be unleashed-on
CoL gives us PONT, Professor Elms Training Method, Copycat, and Ninetales all for another season.

Just saying, UL On does make sense if you rotate 4 sets every go...
RR On
UL On
BW On

Any questions?

collector was in HGSS why does that matter their not going to cycle out part of that block I still think its going to be RR and on.

No no, I'm saying that if the format were to ever go UL-On like that post I quoted said, then Collector would be out of format

this is looking forward past the upcoming rotation, not the one happening in sept.

I do hope that any of the B&W sets gain cards like those two though.

well until it may be UL-On. We still have atleast 7 sets lol

we may get collector before that or something similar

RR-On is the most likely format, simply because the reason we didn't have a rotation last year was because P!P (POP) wanted to increase the amount of modified legal sets to 13 to give players more options in deck building. How many sets do we currently have?

1. MD
2. LA
3. SF
4. PT
5. RR
6. SV
7. AR
8. HGSS
9. UL
10. UD
11. TM
12. COL

Thats where we're at currently, and we most likely have BW to go before we hit the rotation giving us 13. If we get four sets a year (based on past release schedules) that puts us to a RR-On format.

With that said I would much rather see P!P move into a block format rotation consisting of roughly 2-3 blocks, which would bring us to another year or PT-On and more SP. While I think that SP has had its time, this might be the easiest way for P!P to do rotations instead of choosing formats that break up blocks. Breaking up blocks often leaves older card mechanics without the needed support to be successful, leading to the sets being ignored for the most part in competitive play.

I don't get how rotating in blocks makes anything "easier", a set is either in the modified format or it's not (no matter what the rotation is we will have at least 3 blocks in the format anyway), the fact that a set is part of a certain block shouldn't have anything to do with whether it's rotated or not.

In the interest of maintaining a healthy tournament environment, Pokémon Organized Play removes older sets from the Modified format at the beginning of each new tournament season. Each rotation challenges existing players to create new strategies while enabling new players to get into Organized Play with a minimal investment.

I think this is something rather important to think about when discussing pending rotations. It depends on what is deemed a "healthy tournament environment" but I think rotating two thirds of the format out is not healthy. I bolded the create new strategies part because I think it'd be a shame to see the whole Platinum block go when a lot of the decent cards there didn't get a chance due to being overshadowed by Stormfront and SP.

I still stand that we'll be seeing a HGSS on format next year or within the next couple months to follow japan...

Xicious: They usually announce between Regionals and US Nationals.

Jand: Do not go posting rumors as fact. Everybody was certain we'd get PT-on last year. I was one of maybe two players posting on these boards that correctly predicted MD-on. I'm predicting PT-on for next year to make things easier on organizers. I doubt they'll go straight to HS-on.

If it's PT-on, I doubt that SP will be as prominent as it is now. It will still be very good, but it will lose Uxie and Call, two of it's most important cards.
