What are some of the sites for buying Japanese Pokez products mainly sleeves, deck boxes, and binders?
I only know Hardrock but I've heard there was better.

Thanks,
Xic

Is Brian (the guy who runds Hardrock) that expensive? There are cheaper options out there, but probably is your best bet if you just want a few things

OK, I'm sure eBay will have cheaper options then. (There is another option but definitely not worth it for things like this, unless you buy a HUGE amount)

Yahoo japan? That seems to be where most collectors get the rare stuff, also pokemon collectors livejournal community. Pkmn collectors can be a hit and miss though... it seems to vary between getting a great deal and bidding against people willing to spend a months paychecks on one toy.

Hardrock has okay prices on some cards but you can find much better deals with a little digging. Same deal with sunyshore and that other pkmn site i can't recall the name of. (and for a disclaimer i'm not ragging on them. it's their merch and i'm sure they do sell that stuff at those prices)

You can't buy on Yahoo Japan unless you LIVE in Japan.

That's not completely true.

There are services online that will order the items for you, for a fee, and mail it to you.

Is it the most cost-effective scenario? Probably not.

For a lot of rare Japanese cards, it is the most cost-effective scenario.

Because often very few copies of certain cards make it to places like eBay (because not many leave Japan), sometimes, cost of item plus middleman fee plus extra postage is still less than buying from eBay.

Quite a few a of those collectors I mentioned most certainly do not live in Japan, so that would be wrong.

I'm not sure what they use but some anime figure collectors buy this service where they get a storage shed in Japan, and then have everything shipped over to them at the end of every month. I'd imagine that's more for plushy collectors not wanting the huge ebay markup though.

Yeah it's not the most accessible thing, especially if you don't know Japanese, but getting a few hundred off of a rare trophy card definitely seems worth the hassle.

No, Drew is right. You can't buy from Y!J unless you live in Japan.

That's why you need a middleman to purchase the item for you, then send it to you.

You just made my point that it WAS true. Not sure that was your intention, but that is what you did.

Thanks for backing me up. :thumb:

Either way it doesn't help the OP. Yeah I was talking about Y!J but don't think its a good option for this sort of item unless you're buying a huge quantity. Middleman services... well they take a lot of time to get used to, that's for sure

Actually, I've found the best place for ordering things such as sleeves and deckboxes is Paper Moon. It's an eBay store, but the quality is a lot higher than most of them. The owner is very approachable in an internet sort of way, and if you ask he combines shipping.

I've ordered from Paper Moon before.

I think I chose them because it made the most sense.

Their shipping is high, but their prices on the stuff is the best I found. The shipping being more makes sense, since it's been shipped from his location across the ocean, but the way many stores mark up the price of the japanese stuff just because they can isn't acceptable in my eyes.

It's a teeter-totter, almost. Some charge little shipping but large increases in the cost of the items. Others charge relatively cheap prices for the items but higher shipping. I just feel like the latter is the better way to go.

Back when TPCi allowed japanese cards, 100% japanese decks, I ordered multiple boxes of a few DP sets with no problem from Paper Moon, and I think I've gotten all of my japanese deck boxes from him.

Thanks you guys for the help. Now if I could only bring myself to drop that much money on something I don't necessarily need.

Well i think BrianJapan (Hardrock) has a very wide selection for fair prices.
I'm sure compared to others he is very fair.
