Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

30-card deck ideas?

I need a little help before the 6th of March. You see, a local Pokemon league is going to have a special tournament on that day, and the rules are as follows:

Modified format
30-card decks
No more than 2 of each card in a deck (save for Basic Energies)
No Stage 2 Pokemon

That said, what sort of deck should I use? Should I split my normal SP deck in half, or is a different strategy better? Remember, I need this by Sunday.

Don't run 1-1 SP Lv.Xs. IMO run Donphan, with Glaile or Dewgong as a mirror tech.
Or run Mew + Lucario?
Leafeon + Roserade?

Start with the decks that did well at the Professor Cup last year.

Donphan
Arceus
Garchomp

Then, find other decks that utilize similar thoughts as those decks. Specifically...

Donphan: Quick, cheap, powerful attacks with tanking ability.
Arceus: Sniping with acceleration.
Garchomp: Sniping with TecH support.

Donphan was powerful in the Prof Cup because it could get damage going quickly, even utilizing a starter Pokemon, and could TecH itself for certain matchups. Mine ran Glalie to grinch other Donphans and to take advantage of my BTS spamming. I also ran Jirachi as a Starter and Rapidash 4 as a Kingdra counter (which I sadly never faced). This is the first deck that most players think of in 30 card because of its speed, power, and tanking ability.

Arceus is probably the most flexible deck for the format, because it breaks the 2-for rule, has a built-in Trainer speed engine, and accelerates energy like nothing else possible in the format. It's also the toughest to get the build correct. Which Arceus are the best? How many Normals should I run to ensure the acceleration? How many LvX? You need to have a good amount of energy to ensure the triple snipe, but you also need to ensure that turn 1 accelerate. What's the correct balance?

Garchomp is the easiest to build IMO because you simply use what you know about 60-card to build 30-card. However, your possible TecH list changes considerably because of the necessity of quick and powerful attackers. I'd steer clear of the other LvX SPs and focus instead on your consistency Pokemon. ToxiTank is always fun. Ambipom is downright nasty. You'll probably find some SP Pokes that you never even thought of before for this deck.

It completely depends on the deck.

The Arceus deck I listed above couldn't survive with less than 9 energy, and I think the ones that beat me had 10.

My Donphan had 8 energy, 9 (10?) Pokemon, 13 (12?) TSS.

Using the Collector/Communication combo is absolutely essential in an evolution deck. Beginning Door and Dual Ball are fantastic. Limit your Supporters to the bare minimum, and focus on Trainers. IMO, the only Supporters you should be running are 2 Collector and *maybe* one recovery card. Everything else should be pure Trainers.

I'd play Gyarados. Sure you can only have 2 magikarp, but you'd get them so afst and with a belt swinging for 80 is still big especially T1. Not to mention that Crobat G and poketurn along with pluspower and junk arm are also options.

If you have 2 Magikarp in the discard, what did Gyarados evolve from?

Donphan is good, Ninetales + (some Fire or Colorless attacker) + loads of energy might be fun.

T1 and belting it don't seem to sound like Mew prime at all.

Garchomp Restore ^_^

Is there a Trainer or PokePower/Body that sends Pokemon to the LZ from the Deck, Hand, Discard, or In Play? I can't think of one...

Palkia g? Lol ik that duznt work w mew w out chomp x lol.

Id also suggest kingdra or a psychic sp toolbox.

As useful as Uxie draw power is, one must be aware of the limitations of the size of their deck; decking is much, much more likely. In fact, I'd be half-tempted to run something in that format that would actively try to deck your opponent. A half-deck centered around 1-1 Kyogre Groudon LEGEND would be hilarious, if you ran Azelf, Pokemon Communication and Legend Box with Water and DCE to make sure the Box worked.

I forgot how broken Legend Box becomes when your deck size is 20 cards to start (and gets smaller very easily, especially in MD-on).
