Weakness: Fire (x2)
Resistance: Water (-20)

Ranculus – Psychic – HP90
Stage 2 – Evolves from Doubran

[P][P][P] Psywave: Does 30 damage plus an additional 10 damage times the number of Energy attached to your opponent’s Active Pokemon.
Weakness: Psychic (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 2

hmm.... Who would have thunk tis up?

You get hit for oh say 80 each turn. You spread all of it around with Ranculus to your Pokemon then heal it all off of everything with Jalorda! If you just run a 2-1-2 of each of these guys, wouldn't it be unstoppable?

Tell me if you like it or how to beat it! :D

While it's a cool idea, your setup is slow, running two stage two's is always clunky, and at the end of the day you really don't have anyone hitting for a whole lot of damage. With pokemon catcher also entering the format, you'll have people dragging up your weak uxies, and taking easy prizes the entire game. I'd like to say if you could fill your entire field with just the stage two's you'd be unstoppable save for OHKO's, but Ranculus only has a lousy 90HP, easily within one shot of range of a dragon rush with a flash bite.

I think decks like Zeckrom, Emboar, Cinciccino, etc. will be the more effective route to go. No offense, it's a good idea, but I don't see it hitting the top tables anytime soon.

Same could be said about Alakazam 4 combined with Turns, Nidoqueen, Garchomp C, etc.. But it has never touched any tournament...

This idea's actually way better than Alakazam 4/Nidoqueen:

*It's immune to Dialga G LV.X, which means it's actually playable.
*In a turbo build or a Tomb AR build, your setup speed is pretty reasonable.

Sure, it's painfully vulnerable to the usual Luxchomp game, but Jalorda+something could actually be very effectively if done right. I also am unsure if it could be a top tier deck, but Black and White is promising so far.

What is an "ability"? A power? A body?

Jalorda sounds like a body. Ranculus sounds like a power.

Alakazam has the disadvantage of being a LvX. Alakazam's power can only be used for SP. Ranculus can be used with any pokemon and evolved same turn on the bench. Furthermore, Healing Breat out shines any other SP healing strategy.

Nidoqueen isn't stackable but Jalorda is. Nidoqueen has a 3 retreat cost compared to Jalorda's 1, free with Unown Q. It also has 10 extra HP.

I think I'll try Ranculus with Tangrowth AR. With the damage switch you can swallow-up for 120 (140 belted) almost every turn once powered-up (GGCC). One strategy would be to swap 80 dmg to Ranculus, seeker it and play it down next turn via BTS, avoiding both catcher and dragon rush. Fossil techs for lostgar could work in any match to literally discard damage.

As much as I would love to see this (Serperior being my favorite Gen 5 pokemon and all), I honestly can't see this being a strong tier 1 deck based off of the fact that:

1.) Decks with large amounts of Stage 2's typically cannot stay consistent.
2.) Decks with large amounts of Stage 2's are very slow and don't set up quickly. In order for this combo to occur, you would need a large amount of Serperior benched to benefit most from stacks of its ability.
3.) Rare Candy's new ruling would slow this down even more.
4.) Gust of Wind is being reprinted and will easily pull your larger pokemon off the bench. Serperior may be capable of walling, however, I don't think Ranculus will.

Trust me, I really want to make Serperior work. The defensive capability it has mixed with the ridiculous amount of damage removable makes it desirable to play... but comboing it will prove far more difficult than planned.

Vilegar consistently has two stage 2's on the field...why couldn't this? Could work well with a slow spiritomb start.

Good point. I really think Jalorda is a brilliant card in the B&W set. It's actually a Pokemon that I like. A favorite, so I'm into building a deck with it.

Walrus - Vilegar does not require a 4-4-4 line of its pokemon line to work consistently. Vileplume is a 2-2-2, Vilegar typically is 4-3-3-1. Plus you'd need to keep your bench protected extremely well. Gengar is also protected from Gust of Wind via Trainer lock and can run significantly less trainers due to locking itself down, only requiring supporter based starts.

Don't get me wrong, I'm totally in favor of Serperior. Its my favorite pokemon this gen, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking into this myself in some way. Its just consistency might be an issue.

I'd like to address this now. Putting 4 spiritomb in a deck does not make it vilegar. Vilegar has 8 basics, that's right, 8 that can stop trainers on turn one. Furthermore its entire strategy revolves around locking trainers the entire game, attaching rescue energy, and properly recovering with BTS after a KO. I'm not going to say Spiritomb won't help, it definitely will, but at the same time it won't give you as much time as you think.

The reason spiritomb works so well in vilegar is because it allows you to hit a early game vileplume, and once that's on the field it works great as a trainer locking wall. If you just have one spirtomb, it's far to easy to play around. Like I said, I'm sure it will help, but I just can't see it suddenly making the deck work.

In all honesty while I think serperior is a good card, but I think it'll work better as a replacement for nidoqueen rather than as it's own deck.

All this is crazy good stuff. But I'm still kinda looking at post rotation, while all you guys are looking pre-rotation. All decks will be slower after the rotation.

Keep it coming! :)

Well, if we have AR still legal after rotation, then obviously go for Tomb. Belted Serperior too can do 80 damage for :grass::colorless: which I reckon will be decent after SPs are gone.
Only problem you have is Charizard. Metapod HGSS possibilty? Charizard will one shot you most of the time so you COULD try to tank with belt and your ability. Metapod helps with this. If you can swarm Serperior though (and I can't believe I just thought of this) you can remove 3/4 damage counters each turn (pretty darn sweet).
As soon as B/W comes out, I'm gonna make a Serperior deck. We finally get a grass starters that actually works! (I've always been starting with grass starts since R/B/Y)

I think I'm going to try to make a deck with these two involving Tankgrowth. :)
I'll post it in Deck help!

It frustrates me when people talk about how decks with two Stage 2s cannot set up quickly. Clearly, they are overlooking VileGar, Metanite, and numerous other decks throughout the game's history. How do they do it? Well, there's this card called "Rare Candy." Novel, I know, since most of you have never seen one in a competitive deck.

However, if Rare Candy is in the format, perhaps this deck would have a chance! And yes, Spiritomb will in all likelihood still be legal after rotation.

Thanks a ton for this I quite honestly have been so busy preparing for states I forgot about bw what I'm worried about is that bw.doesn't come out till after regs so the first tournament with the new rules will be nats and I'm worried bout how that will go

Hi Rare Candy, My name is Nerfbat, how are you this fine rotation?

Seriously, we have no idea what the next format will bring. Rare Candy will most likely be much less useful. Spiritomb may be gone. BTS will almost certainly be gone. Chances are very good though that 2 stage 2's will be nearly unplayable.

All depends on what cards we get. Remember that Pokemon Catcher is going to be the master, ruling everything unless you can stop it (Gothruzelle). That's gonna be the play, as slow as it is.

I actually think that dark disruption can do well in the format, though Donphan will probably wreck you...

As for the deck idea posted, it's weakness is Pokemon Catcher and speed issues. You'll need a consistant way to draw, and that's tough to find in a HG/SS-on (what should be the mid-season rotation if they do one) to keep 2 stage 2's going. Though props for the idea.

There will be no mid-season rotation. Worlds 11 Format is MD-ON.
